  1. Well I'd have to apply under electrical or electronic engineer or even technician/draftsperson. From looking at the points system I'm pretty sure I'd have at least 75 so I assume that's ok?
  2. The degree is a general engineering degree, however my job is definitely electrically biased
  3. Yeah clinging on to the early 20's though, 25 at the end of this year. I did a degree part time at university during the evenings after a HNC etc
  4. I haven't applied for anything, no idea which route is the best to go down
  5. Hi, more than likely WA, dad lives there and we have friends there too. Just seems like the 'safer' choice
  6. Hi all, My partner and I are both in our early 20's, we are getting married this year and since visiting Australia a couple of years ago, it's always been in the back of our heads about moving. My dad is a British born now Australian citizen living in Perth for about 10 years now. I have an engineering based degree as well as 7 years employment in an engineering company and recently moved in to sales. My partner is an estate agent and she has done that for about 4 years now and progressed to a management position. My questions are; 1. Will we struggle to find work? 2. We own two properties in the U.K. and ideally would want to buy asap in Oz, how soon can you buy? 3. Does anyone come from a real estate background and can help us work out what is required to work in that field in oz? 4. Are we best to visit a few more times or just go for it and see how it goes? sorry for all the questions! thanks ?
  7. I never knew that, thanks for the heads up! I'll have a look on here and see what others have done, thanks for your help
  8. Okay thats good to know. Also Im heading out at Easter for almost a month, is it worth me talking to migration agencies in Oz to determine my eligibility or would I be better doing it here in the UK? Likewise I was thinking about visiting some job agencies whilst in Perth, would you recommend that even though I don't have a visa yet?
  9. Thanks for all of your help, its great to get a response. Is a skills assessment always necessary? I presumed that as I am only recently completing my qualifications that I would not need to be reassessed? Would my current qualifications not be transferable to prove I am able to do the job? I understand that maybe a few more years experience will help though.
  10. Is there any way my dad can sponsor me? or is that not possible? Also does my four years during my apprenticeship not count towards experience?
  11. Hi All, I'm after some information regarding whether i'm able to apply to migrate and what is the best route to go down. Firstly I'm 21 years old, just about to complete a four year apprenticeship in electrical/electronic engineering and a month off completing a HNC in Electrical/Electronic engineering. My dad has been an Australian citizen in Perth, WA for almost two years now. I'm asking, what is the best route to go down? I've searched online and there are so many visas I don't know which is the best way Thanks Tom
  12. Where did I eat? or Where did i stay? haha We tried various curries in the Rossmoyne, Willetton, Riverton, Canning Vale area and didn't really enjoy them. As mentioned above, Thai food was great and also enjoyed a restaurant in Rossmoyne called Flames. They did Moroccan lamb which was really good
  13. When in Perth over the New Year, I'd say that eating out was on a par with the UK. You pretty much get what you pay for.
  14. Sorry to be a nuisance but can anybody help? I've been looking at the EOI as well, is this a route i should look down?
  15. Hi All, Just wondering whether my HNC Electrical/Electronic is a strong enough qualification for me to compete in the job market in Australia? I'll be 21 when I complete it and my dad lives is a WA citizen, since visiting on holiday, I can't wait to come back. But I don't want to head over if I don't have a strong enough qualification to compete. Any information will help me. I'm in the process of doing a four year apprenticeship in the UK, I've gained experience in both technician-type roles as well as commissioning/field engineer jobs travelling across the UK. Regards Tom
  16. Hi all, first time posting! Anyway, after visiting my dad in Perth over the Xmas and New Year period I can't think of doing anything else but migrating. He's officially an Australian citizen now and I'm unsure if this will help me. I'm 20 years old and looking at moving with my girlfriend, I'm currently doing an apprenticeship and will be a qualified electrical/electronic engineer. I'm forecast to finish about August 2014 and am just after some advice on what to do, what visas to look at and when to start? Many thanks Tom
