UBank seems to offer best rates but this can only be opened/operated online. Very easy to link to your accounts.

Insurance - You need two types - Compulsory Third Party (CTP) and your own Fully Comprehensive if you want to get this. You "MUST" have the CPT before you drive any car. We found NRMA Best quote by far for Comphrensive. CPT is a standard price across all insurers. Go to insurers websites for quotes online for specific car types
Rego - Same as Car Tax in Irl + Stamp Duty (Paid on all car purchases new or old and included in the Rego price.) Go to the department website for your state for estimates. This is for QLD
https://www.service.transport.qld.gov.au/eQuote/eQuote.jsp
Always Bargain - Never pay RRP for new car. This includes a loading for a Trade in. So if you have no trade in you should be able to negotiate up to 10%. I stand to be corrected on this so if anyone can confirm please do so. Have not bought new yet but plan to do and this seems to be the case from my research so far.
And.......Cars are expensive here
Transfer your licence to an Aus one ASAP makes everything so much easier and quicker. Very quick to do in the local transport office
All above applies to QLD but should be similar for other states but check relevant websites

I am not sure what sort of pension you have in Ireland. Is it a Public service pension or a private pension. If you dont live there any more crazy to being paying tax there.
You might be able to get a "PAYE Exclusion Order" in Ireland. This would stop the deduction of PAYE, PRSI, USC charges etc from any payment. You would then have to declare this for tax purposes in Australia.
This could be worth looking into. Hope this helps.

Just clean it yourself. No matter what you do they will more thank likely request it be cleaned here on arrival and charge you a nice few hundred dollars for the pleasure. Nice little racket they have here

Driving licence is quick to change in a Department Office. They will take your photo and everything there
Just use the address of wherever you are staying and change it later when you have a more permanent address. They will then issue a change of address label for your Licence

If leaving the money in the UK but you need to convert to AUD for Tax Declaration/Return purposes, which you have to do. These are the rates to use

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a Tax Accountant in the Noosaville/Noosa area. Just need a little assistance in doing our first return as we are here since March
and would like a little advice. Getting paid from abroad so monthly conversion rates etc need to be taken into account.
How much on average does it cost to do your returns. Will only be for three/four months this year.
Many thanks

I use CurrencyFair constantly great rates and $4 commission per transaction. I have not found anywhere better. Once the accounts are setup it is all pretty seamless. Great communication from them also everything is very prompt and efficient.

You just head to your nearest transport Office and bring loads of ID and your Old Driving Licence.
Bring Utility Bills or Bank statements etc for proof of address in Aus
Pay the charge and all done in a few minutes. They will take your photo for the Licence in the Office.
All Very efficient

I cant see how it would be worth your while to do this as most cars here are more expensive to buy than in Ireland. So would be better to sell here and buy back home cheaper. UNless yo have something extra special. You would also probably be liable for VRT on entry I imagine..............

Sorry to piggy back on this but similar question. We came back on an RRV in March this year. Stay:Indefinite Entries:Multiple
Our original visa is we have a PR Visa with no restrictions
We need to leave for three months maybe in November. What do we need to do or do we just get stamped with another return date when we leave at the airport. Or do we have to go to the Department of Em.
Many thanks

Yes you must have owned and used the car for over 12 months before you can even think of bringing it over
-
Try NAB we have found them very good and yes you can open before you arrive. Once in AUS Ubank are very good for savings accounts but you have to be in Aus first for this.
-
Why dont you Use Currency Fair to transfer your pension as soon as you get it and stick it in an interest bearing deposit account in Australia. With Ubank you can get 4% and more with bonus. Might make more than you can ever do in the UK.

Looking at bringing over a BMW520d to Aus, can anyone advise if you have a 20ft container is it possible for removal companies to use the space above the car for storage/boxes etc. Dont really need a 40ft container as we have little no furniture but have boxes of personal stuff etc. Car will take up most of the space on the flat so wondering do they stack over the car? Any advice appreciated if anyone has done this

Our car was in showroom condition.........still hit with cleaning fees here. My advice is give it a good clean forget about paying to get any cleaning done as i think its a bit of a given they will request it is professionally cleaned here.............
Funny there are only a few companies that do it here, so someone is making good money at this end. oh and our car was even dirtier than when we put it on the container when we got it back "professionally cleaned"
