  1. Hi Russell, I am currently awaiting a phone call from Go matilda for migration and visa assistance.
  2. Hey, Just after some further advice whilst my partner and I are researching the defacto visa. Can anyone confirm if this route would be a better option to take over a job sponsorship? My partner is currently employed with a company in Brisbane as a warehouse worker/forklft driver and they are willing to sponsor him (a job which he actually enjoys). I am aware this is not regional and it does not qualify under the skilled category but when I have used the visa wizard on IMMI it says he could still be eligible. He has called the department of immigration to query this and he has found the staff to be unhelpful and not interested. They said its possible but his employer would have to prove the job was open to anyone and advertised fairly. The operator was not very forthcoming when he asked questions, he was told to read the IMMI website. Does anyone have an input on this?
  3. Hey everyone, I'm an Australian and my partner is English and currently on a working holiday visa which expires in mid November. We are considering applying for a De facto visa however we have a few questions. We have also heard about paying for a migration agent to help us make the right steps and achieve permanent residency for my boyfriend. How much does this visa cost ? How long does the process take? What are some things my partner and I should be aware of in terms of evidence that we have been together for a year? Any advice or suggestions? Or any alternative routes we should also try? In regards of employment sponsorship; my partner is not a professional, he works in a warehouse as a fork lift driver, so his career may not be appropriate? P.S we have tried calling the immigration department up, and they have been short, vague and unhelpful. Thanks x
  4. I'm sorry to hear about that, I think you should leave here, and start it fresh. The stress isn't good for you x
  5. Hey I know how you feel. I was in the uk for three years and im back in bris. Its so boring here there is hardly anything to do for people our age. Im thinking about moving back but everyone thinks im "mad". Its hard, but we are both young and we can travel back and forth as much as we like really.... But hey you're not alone .
  6. Thanks everyone some very interesting points there. Its good to know I'm not alone, England is a good country & you realise that when you leave ! My boyfriend & I are going to see if things improve & make a final decision at the end of the year . x
  7. Hi guys, I'm Francesca & I'm 20years old. I was born in England and moved out to Australia (Brisbane) when I was 2 years old. My mum wanted a change of life and we moved to Birmingham when I graduated from high school. I didn't like Birmingham at all so I saved all my money & came back to Brisbane 3 years later with my boyfriend who I met while I was in England. I've been back now in Brisbane for 3months and I feel homesick, confused & like I've "outgrown" Brisbane. My family are based in England so I miss them aswell. Not sure what to do? I just feel lost and need some advice. Also, my boyfriend who is 26years old is unhappy with his job and finds it difficult to get a new one. It's kinda like he's been "ripped off" as Austalia is supposed to be the land of opportunities. He also feels isolated & that Aus is behind with the times (I feel like that too). Help!
