  1. Hi all I have been in Perth on a 457 visa for 7 months, I have recently changed employers as my original employers stitched me up good and proper, so have been wit new employer for 6 weeks. My question is I was looking at info about gaining PR and will my 2 years start again with my new employer as I read on the net that as long as I have been working for my employer for at least 1 year of the last 2 years that I can apply for a RSMS or ENS with my new employer I hope this makes sense cheers Chris
  2. Hi Guys and girls just wondered if someone could shed some light for me, I am in Perth on a 457 visa, not the best experience but that's a different story. I have been looking for an employer that will sponsor me on a RSMS visa to gain my PR, I have found an employer that is willing to sponsor me but I'm not to sure if I can transfer over to the different visa and if there are any problems that I may encounter as I have not held my 457 visa with them and I have only been in Oz for 7 months on my 457, I am a Head Chef by trade so don't see any problems with my job, I think that I will need to have a skills assessment. Any help or advise would be great, just to settle my mind before I head down to the migration agent, thanks Chris
  3. hi mate, my first interview was with the agent witch was basicaly going through my cv and assesing what level I was at, all very informal more of a long chat, the employer then checked out my last 3 job references, then when I recieved the job offer I had a 45 min interview over skype with the owners, again more of an informal chat. very relaxed and nothing to get worried about, I am lucky as my employer is paying for the visa, but when I was offer a job through TSS I would of had to pay for the visa and agencie fees of around £2500 All i had to do was send all my documents to the agent and they delt with the whole visa application for me, I have just had to sort out health insurance, now im just waiting to hear back form DIAC
  4. I kept my cv simple just a brief outline of the positions that I have held, the style of restsurant and duties involved in running the kitchen. My covering letter was only half a page with a brief outline of myself and family, experiance that I have, future goals and that was about it, I had a couple of skype interviews with the employment agents and then with the employers. If you need anythings else give me a shout. chris
  5. i have just been sponsored the job was advertised with a company called nucleus recruitment, I also was offered 4 other jobs with a company called TSS who deal with catering jobs, I am just waiting on our visa to be approved, Its happened quite quick only been looking since christmas, pm me if you need any other details. I am in the UK so it can be done

  7. hi guys, I have been offered a job in Sorrento Perth just waiting on my visa. I am just starting the process of looking for a short term rental for our arrival, It will be for 2 adult and 2 small children, does any one know of anything suitable, I can only find holiday rentals and all seem to be fairly expensive. any help or advise would be really appreciated.
  8. thanks thats good to hear, our current accomadation comes with my job so not leaving much behind, I dont want to live like a lord just be able to live outside and not be stuck inside with the kids so much, I would rather go to the beach or go cycling with the kids than go out drinking, all I really want to know is if is possible my wife will work part time as well but im not counting on it to survive only as a little extra spending money. thanks for all your comments
  9. thanks for you help....! on realestate.com/au i can find a furnished 2 bedroom appartment for between $300 - $350, so im not dreaming just trying to be realistic.
  10. I am looking to rent between $300-$350 a week + bills and food, I dont smoke or drink and like to go out for lunch now and then, I dont plan on buying a car at first. Is it that unreasonable out in australia that $60000 - $75000 is not enough to live on. I live on alot less hear in the UK
  11. hi all, myself, my wife and 2 young boys aged 2 and 3 are looking to get out to aus pretty soon on a 457 visa I am a chef and have been offered 2 different jobs the first is in caloundra qld, with a salary of $60000 and the other is in hilarys in perth with a salary of $75000. I dont want a lavish life style just to pay the bills, eat well and let the kids do some activaties and a meal out once in a while, im a little unsure of the best route to take, qld has cheaper rent than perth but would love to hear your thoughts on quality of life and pros and cons to both areas, also good ares and ares to avoid, good primary schools. If in perth i would need to be able to commute to work near the harbour at hilarys so good bus routes also any other advice would be great cheers chris, nicole and kids
