Thanks for your welcome's and comments. Yeah....clearly a bit of a dream then, I guess I'll need to leave the surf for the weekend... *Nicky Cook, I don't have a visa. I'm lucky in that I have dual nationality (British/Australian) so hold a passport. It makes thing a little easier . I'm definitely moving to the Brisbane region rather than Sydney but thanks for your suggestion. So, now I'm looking for suburbs/areas within a commute of Brisbane that will offer me the rest (arty, independent, relaxed vibe). I'll check out Flathead, thanks TickledPink G

Hello all, I've just joined this site so thought I'd say hi. I'm planning on moving over to Queensland later this year. I'm going to spend a little time visiting different suburbs and areas etc to get a feel for them and see where I'd like to settle but wondered if anyone could give me some suggestions? I'm considering commutable distance to Brisbane or further up the sunshine coast (perhaps in between). Work options for me are greatly increased if i an get into Brisbane CBD. The problem however is I really fancy being near a swimming / surfing beach and I believe that these are an hour or so away from Brissie. The thought of being able to go for a surf each morning before work is quite literally a dream. Also, I like places that have an arty and community feel, ideally with independent shops rather than large Coles stores etc. Any ideas? Look forward to hearing your suggestions. G
