  1. Hi All, I have recently been successful in applying for a 190 visa (sponsored as a vocational education teacher) and am moving to Australia on the 8th Sept. I am unsure of my options in regards to my current qualifications and therefore my question is two-fold: A) Will my FE PGCE enable me to obtain a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment upon my arrival into Australia? I really do not want to have to study again to get this recognition. B) Will my PGCE enable me to register with the various Australian state education institutions? Oh and any advice on getting a job in TAFE would be much appreciated.... Thank you for your time Adam
  2. Thanks mate, I am over the moon! The official visa grant letter came through on Tuesday morning and we have started looking at flights already! No point hanging around any more, as we have done enough of that over the past 7-8 months! Best of luck with your application. Fingers crossed for you! Adam
  3. Thank you Lana, I submitted my original visa application on the 12th March and the CO was assigned more or less a month to the day (April 12th). They requested some further documents, that we complete Police and Medical checks and re-submit everything before the 7th May. It has therefore been about 3 weeks since we re-submitted all of those things and therefore just short of three months since we submitted our original application initially. This is also the timeframe given on the DIAC website for 190 visa processing. I am guessing that if you have already completed Police/medical checks and they are happy with your original documentation, then you might just be looking at a month (the time it took for us to hear from our original application). Hope this helps. Good luck Adam
  4. Hi yetimonster, I checked my page this morning, totally devoid of any expectation as it is the weekend........and imagine my surprise when it had changed to 'Finalised' and 'Granted'!!! Woo hooo Only trouble is, I am having problems opening the attachment with my visa grant letter at the moment (has anybody else had this problem?). The link just produces a grey pop-up. I don't feel like I can go as mad as I want to, without seeing the actual letter first!! I hope you have good luck too. Adam
  5. Hi all,Thought I would jump into this conversation, as I am waiting for a final decision on my 190 visa application and the wait is driving me stir crazy! I know I not strictly a member of the feb gang, but I'm hoping you'll accept me! ;-) My details are as follows: submitted visa app on 12th march assigned a case officer on 11th April, who requested further documents and completion of police and medical checks - this was all completed by the 7th may deadline and sent off to CO. Still waiting and my case officer says he will chase after 3 weeks (which is Monday 27th) Will update if I hear anything......There seems to be no set time-frame for this stage. Fingers crossed!

  7. Hi All, I appreciate it is difficult to give an exact time frame on these things, but I write in the hope that somebody might have been through this stage of the immigration process recently and therefore be able to give me some idea on the following: My case officer for my 190 visa requested further documents (relationship and employment) on the 10th April 2013 and instructed us to complete medical and police checks. These were both completed and were sent across (with our extra evidence) to our CO before our 7th May deadline, however I have not heard anything since. I would assume that the documents that were sent across originally have already been assessed (in order for them to request more) and that all that is now required is for our CO to go through the additional info - something I wouldnt imagine would take that long? With this in mind, I am now wondering whether or not anybody else has/is experiencing a similar scenario at the mo/recently? If they have, are we looking at weeks or months for a final decision....? If the latter I think I am going to go crazy! Any help/info would really be appreciated. Thanks Adam
  8. Been through the same process recently and I heard back from the State after about two weeks. The next step is to put together your main visa application and submit. Ours was picked up by our CO after about 5 weeks. Police checks were sent off this week and medical next week. We then await final decision, so its all moving pretty quickly! Good luck!
  9. Sorry, pressed send by mistake! I meant to say...... that I am hoping it all will be enough. Good luck Aster, if you are still going through the process yourself. To all others that have replied on here, thank you for your info, it was most helpful and has indeed helped to put my mind at rest slightly. It wouldnt be ridiculous to suggest that its something new that they are focusing more on. Fingers crossed........
  10. Hi Aster and thank you for replying. We have been living together for the past 4 years, but only got married last summer. We are hoping that it might mean an end is nearing for our visa process, so fingers crossed it will be a positive conclusion! I have gathered lots more evidence of correspondence, bank statements showing transaction to/from my wife's account during the time we have been living together and lots of other stuff, so I am hoping tha
  11. Hi Rupert and thanks for the reply. In answer to your question, yes I provided a marriage certificate, tax documents, work statements as part of my original application. We have been living together for the past 4 years, but only married last summer, so it is a new marriage. Oh and we got married in Cyprus, so I dont know if that had any bearing on their decision!?
  12. Please somebody either put the frighteners up me even more, or help put my mind at rest. My 190 sponsored visa application has recently been allocated to a case officer after receiving a positive skills assessment and state sponsorship approval. However, they have now requested further evidence for the relationship between my wife and I and also for my employment history. This all seems a little strange considering I have a total of about 75 points, my wife and I are married, I have a successful skills assessment (where presumably they are happy with my experience and quals) and state sponsorship. I only hope they are not making it difficult for us, in an attempt to trip us up and make the decision to reject us easier. My migration agent has said that they have not been asked for this additional info often in the past and usually our marriage certificate and all of the other successful stages we have been through have been enough. I hope I am only being paranoid, as they have still requested that we carry out our health and character checks within a 28 day period. Please can somebody tell me if they have experienced the same thing, or they think this is unusual? I think I might just cry if we get this far and get rejected...... ;-) Thank you in advance.
  13. Hi and thank you for your reply. I have a Further Education PGCE, so it sounds as though its the same as your partner's. That is really interesting to hear about getting the Cert IV by only them assessing my skills. I had been looking into gaining the Cert IV (which I considered to be frustrating, but necessary), however I will definitely look into what you suggested. Has your husband got it now then and are you planning on going back? What is the availability like for TAFE jobs in general and what subject is his experience in? I am happy to bide my time and do anything upon arrival (and I consider the plan to move to Oz as a long term one), whilst looking for a suitable role within teaching and I appreciate that this might take a little time. In the same sense, I wouldnt want to continue 'flogging a dead horse', so to speak! Thank you again
  14. Hi All, I am an Sports/Phys Ed Lecturer with nearly 10 years experience of working in FE in the UK. I completed a 3 year Sports Science degree and a PGCE in Further Education (part-time while I worked at a college), however I dont know where my qualifications/experience leave me in the WA education system? TAFE teaching would be the most logical step for me due to my experience/qualifications, but I am a little worried that there may not be the volume of jobs available in that level of teaching. I am in the final stages of my visa application (i.e. had skills successfully assessed, been accepted for state sponsorship for WA and now completing final visa stage) and am getting a little anxious about the job prospects for me, even though I have been accepted by the state as a Vocational Education teacher (which makes me assume they think there will be jobs available for me!). I will be looking to get into employment as soon as possible after arriving and I appreciate I might have to bide my time for the right teaching job (being open minded about what I did for work in the meantime). On another note, my wife is a hairdresser and I am told that I should be pretty confident about her ability to get a job soon after getting out to Perth. Is this misguided? Can anybody either A - Give me some info/advice on how I would best get into the TAFE system and where my quals would put me in regards to employment B - Reassure me as to the strength of the health/fitness/sport job market, to put my mind at rest about finding a role for my skills and knowledge Thank you for any help/advice you are able to give. Adam
