  1. Wow, thanks for this. I've got to be honest I wasn't expecting a positive response (I was hoping for one though!) You've given me a bit of hope again
  2. Hi, thanks for your reply, it's very helpful. Some of your questions I've answered on an earlier reply, but we lived in Perth from Oct 2008 - Feb 2010. We haven't any ties to Australia and haven't applied for an RRV simply because having read the guidance on the immigration website, I couldn't see how it would be granted. However, I'm happy to be told I'm wrong I'm not aware of the employer sponsored route - how do you go about gaining employer sponsorship? Thanks again.
  3. Thanks everyone for your replies and advice. We had 175 skilled migrant visas which expired on 13/03/13. We would have been eligible for an RRV until 05/02/15 as that is 5 years from when we were last in Australia. As we don't have compelling reasons to apply for an RRV beyond those 5 years (we moved back due to the ill health of a close family member in the UK then stayed here for my eldest daughter to finish her secondary education. I don't think these reasons are classed as compelling), we'll have to start the process again. I hadn't thought of applying now for a new visa before we're too old - that's a good idea, thank you. Am I right in thinking fibrous plasterers/carpenters are still in demand in Perth and able to earn a good wage? Thanks again for your time in replying, it was very useful.
  4. Hi, I'm hoping someone can offer a bit of advice please. Having lived in Perth for 15 months, we're considering moving back however an RRV is no longer applicable so I'm assuming we'd hve to start the immigration process all over again? Due to the ages of our children, we wouldn't be able to make the move for a couple of years (looking at 2017) but by then I will be 44 and my husband will be 47. My husband is a fibrous plasterer and carpenter so is on the skilled list I believe (I realise this might chamge by 2017) but are we both too old to be accepted by Australia? Are there any options available to us for migrating back to Perth again? Looking forward to reading your responses, thanks.
  5. People leave Perth all the time thereby freeing up school places. My advice is get your children on all the waitlists of the schools you like and it's likely it wont be too long before you get offered a place at one of them. Good luck.
  6. Hi Rupert, I hope you don't mind me contacting you again but you seem to have a lot of knowledge about this. We have submitted our RRV app and got an immediate reponse saying the offer of work letter couldn't be considered as evidence of ties. My husband was self employed when we lived in Oz so we provided letters offering him work on that basis again but apparently that's not sufficient even though his occupation is still on the skills wanted list in WA. We have 28 days to provide more evidence of ties to Australia but all we have are bank accounts, an offer of a school place, medicare cards and TFN number but I don't thnk any of these things really help. Are you aware of any other way we can get ourselves back to Australia other than all 4 of us having to make the move in 3 weeks before the current PR visas expire? What if my husband moves back, starts working and renting a house. Could we then apply for the RRV on the basis of personal ties to my husband who's there or is that a bit risky? Thanks for your help.
  7. Wow, how long ago did you apply for the last one? Did you have to say what your "ties" to Australia are and if so, do you mind me asking what they are? The only "ties" we have are that my husbands job is still on the WA SOL list and we have an offer of a school place for my daughter! Did you send your forms to the Australian Embassy in London? Thanks for your help
  8. Thanks for your reply Nigsystar. Are these letters from companies you've applied for jobs to? The problem is my husband is self employed so all we could do us get a letter from a company he might sun contract to which just says they could offer him work on a sub contract basis. Not sure if this is going to be enough?
  9. Thanks Rupert, I was just hoping to hear from people who had been granted an RRV without ties to Australia. The only "ties" we have are that my husbands occupation is still on the WA SOL list and we have an offer of a school place for my daughter. I'm just not sure this is enough and the problem we have is that if we apply for the RRV, by the time we get an answer we won't have enough time to get back to Australia before the current visa runs out, if the RRV is refused. Alternatively we just come back so we're in Australia before the visa expires but that only gives us 4 weeks! Just not sure we can do it in 4 weeks but don't want to lose the opportunity to come back to Australia at all!
  10. Sorry, just read back and seen you're not going until August! Good luck, hope it works out.
  11. Hi, I've just seen this thread. Did you manage with ok when you arrived in Australia? How much did you take with you in the end? We're in the same boat but my husband is self employed so it's a little bit more risky for us!
  12. Oh really "Melza"? Where you living in Australia at the time you applied for the RRV? What evidence did you have to provide? It all seems to be a bit of a minefield as far as I can see on the immigration websites!
  13. Yes the clock is ticking and I'm panicking! Not sure I can make the move in the next 4 weeks?! Employment not a condition of the visa but all the info I can get on the immigration website is not clear as to how easily the extension is granted when living in the UK still and having not lived in Oz for 2 years in total. Apparently you "may be required" to show links to Australia such as a job offer. Can"t get a definitive reply from anyone. If we apply and dont get it granted, it will definitely be too late to get back then! My own fault for leaving it so late but it's a nightmare all the same!
  14. Our 5 year PR visa expires in 5 weeks. We lived in Perth for 15 months, moved back to UK (long story) want to move back to Perth again but have left it too late to do it with ease. I'm looking into the possibility of an RRV and have had some advice from immigration which implies it's not difficult but won't "pre-assess" am application and say whether we're likely to be granted it or not. My husband will be a self employed fibrous plasterer and without a job offer, I'm just not sure how likely it is that we'll be granted a 1 year RRV. Does anyone have any experience of this please?
