1. Anyone have any experience of importing a trailer tent or the like?
  2. Hi all, after a bit of advice re my hounds! I understand that you can provide their own food in quarantine but that it needs to be from Australia. My 2 (Shih Tzus) eat a natural tinned food and a bit of Royal Canin biscuits mixed in. I think I'm right in saying that Royal Canin is available in Oz, but I would be very keen to have any recommendations re the tinned food. Also, how did you get it to quarantine (unless of course you were already in the country). Hopefully somebody can help. Thank you x
  3. Hi there Has anyone had any experience of taking a folding camper to OZ? Please can you give me the low down on exactly what to expect. I need to understand the charges involved (obviously excluding the shipping), whose valuation is used ie UK or Australia, and what changes need to be made in order to bring it in line with Australian standards. It is currently valued at approx £4,500 in the UK but these things sell for a great deal more in OZ (perhaps up to about $17,000). Any help gratefully received as I know we will use it so much over there but it may just end up being too expensive. If anyone is super clever/helpful, perhaps they might breakdown all the charges for me so I have a really clear idea in my head. Thanks very much in advance. Annika
  4. Can anyone please recommend companies that we can send some extra baggage ahead of us, things we will need immediately rather than waiting for our stuff in storage. thank you.

You're not alone, I find this site a bit tricky too!!

We've now paid the placement fee at PWH for my dsug. About £1000 but I think worth it. Planning to fly out mid December, I'm so excited! ! My husband is from Australia and we used to live in Perth but we know the Northern beaches. He is from further north of Sydney.

We chose Robinsons in the end. Not sure where you're based but we has Theresa as our rep, very good. Don't be afraid to push them down on their quote. I recommend you contact Doree Bonner, they will come in cheaper then yiu can get Robinsons to match. They recently moved a friend of mine oit and she said they were exceptional.

When are you actually heading out?

Hi Annika,

Sorry I didn't reply to your last message, I wrote a long reply which failed to send and didn't save. I need to get a grip with how to use this site!

How's things going for you? We have not progressed on very much yet. I have been in contact with Pittwater House and they have a space at the moment for my two children but we are still not certain of our arrival date. I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the places are still there when we try to enrol them.

We also got a removal quote from Robinsons but are going to try another to see if it is more competitive. Who did you try?

Have to visited the northern beaches before? It is so beautiful, we can't wait to return.

Good luck with everything,

    Car Finance

Hi there, not sure that this is in the right area.... So, we were bringing our Audi over but have now decided against it. My question is, does anyone have any experience of getting car finance pretty much on arrival? How willingly will they offer it up if you can put down a good deposit, say $8k on a $27k car? We won't immediately have proof of earnings, and my husband is freelance so it will be hard to tell them an approximate... thanks in. Advance x
  10. My daughter will be doing the same as Jackson4 albeit a year below, currently in reception she is 5 in April. We move at Christmas and she will star their academic year (jan) in year 1. This means she will do the first term of year 1 in England and then repeat it in January when the new school year starts. hope that helps a bit x
  11. Hi there Would be very grateful to hear about your thoughts and feelings for Pittwater House. Very mindful of getting the new school right to make my daughter's transition as smooth as possible. Thank you. Annika
  12. Hi fellow Howell. I would like to know as I am starting to get quotes. Thanks. Annika Howell
  13. My husband has a British degree - BSc Hons in Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation (sports therapy). Will this be recognised in Oz or will he need to sit some kind of conversion test? Any help/advice greatly received. Thanks. annika
