  1. The trouble with the CSA is that they base their figures on what you earned in previous years, so if she has requested it it may be that they have do e a reassessment and feel you've not paid enough. This is all guess work though to be honest. I'd say ring them and find out but that's useless in my experience. Do you actually have a name on the letter you can contact? They really are a nightmare to deal with. Good luck.

I haven't seen the letter, so have no idea about a contact name. My mum phoned to tell me about it in panic, wondering why I hadn't paid...

I'll have a beer before I try calling them...or two. I'll have the tramadol waiting for afterwards ?

  2. Hi all.

I paid child maintenance through the Uks CSA while living in the Uk. When I moved, I wrote them a letter (in duplicate) stating that I was no longer in the Uk and as I was moving into temporary accommodation out of the Uk, they could contact me using my email address stated for any additional information they needed. I advised that I would continue paying on time.

I have yet to receive any emails from the CSA. They have now acknowledged my letter by means of a notice of court proceedings for unpaid arrears sent to my parents address. I have paid maintenance to my ex wife ahead of schedule since I moved. The same letter from the CSA mentions that they're aware that I've been paying!

What have/am I being taken to court for??! (I don't know if a court date has been set or has passed). Any suggestions on what I should do from those who've had contact with the CSA?

  3. To be fair it works like that here too in WA, but people don't seem to know about it or they can't get the time off to go and get it.

So if you want your bond back quickly in WA, get the agents to sign off the paperwork and head to the bond office on St George's terrace where you will get it there and then in your hand.

    simples xx

I couldn't last time although I had heard of that option (from poms in oz). I was in hospital for a few weeks with a sick baby while my OH tried to juggle work and 3 more children.

I guess something lacks a little though as we shouldn't have to chase everything

  4. when we lived in Melbourne it took 3 months to come back , now we live in Qld you can go to the real estate who then release the forms , can walk straight into the post office show your ID , it gets faxed there and then and within half an hour the MONEY IS IN YOUR HAND Well done Queensland !!!!

    That sounds ideal!

  5. What seems to be a laid back attitude soon descends into sloppy lack of professionalism. You're lucky you're getting your rental bond back. Every agent I've used seems to view this as a handy revenue stream

I'm expecting this of the agent we're using now unfortunately. The previous bond was through a private rental with someone on poms in oz, who unlike most we come across was very professional

  6. Is it just WA or all states...5 weeks for house bond returned (after I chased it), no sign of new tenancy agreement for 3 months (on 3rd time of going to Real Estate company, finally got a 'copy' slightly doctored), Passport application not processed but when I chase it I get told that 'it's on hold' due to an error Auspost made. Good of them to tell us. This list carries on but I won't bore you all with details. Just needed to rant.

WA certainly living up to its 'waiting awhile' persona people keep referring to.

  7. Be wary if you're a brickie and offered sponsorship. A guy I know moved over on a 457, had to pay all fees, had to sign a lease on the bosses rental and his boss has asked for $0000s to sign for his family to join him.

  8. Mount Hawthorn is lovely. For a pool, it may be over budget though as it's close to the city. There's a big park/reserve on the way up to Ellenbrook with lots to do called Whiteman Park. I don't know what it's like in areas near there though.

You appear to get more for your money in Armadale area (SOR) ...we went to Brookdale (nearby) and the road had lots of signs along the lines of: Sienna Wood town centre will be here next to a field.

  9. Also, it will be necessary to check with airlines as they have "cut off" dates after which they will not permit you to travel.

Emirates let you fly all the way through. Post 37 weeks you have to be cleared by their medical professionals but who wants to risk giving birth surrounded by passengers on a plane or risk health if complications arise onboard. I don't know about other airlines
