thanks for your reply, our nearest beach is the gold coast surfers paradise or mains beach, we tend to go to the latter, people are friendly and laid back, crime is slowly increasing , the cost of living has got very expensive we don,t go in the cbd often but Brissie has some good shops and cafes, I suppose the wife is from london and you can,t help comparing all the time, I still have a habit of converting costs back to the uk pound, we are waiting for our citizenship ceremony hopefully on Australia day as we arrived five years ago on that day. thanks for your post.

I can undesrtand the situation you are in, my wife and I also feel the same we have been in brissie for nearly 5 years, when we fist came it was great but i think the novelty wares off after time, we have met some great people but only 2 we can call good friends, our eldest who is 15 has gone off the rails, we haven't seen him for 5 weeks he is taking drugs and drinking alcohol, not to say this wouldn't of happened in the Uk, so we have just passed our citizenship test and hopefully we should get our aussie passport soon, life is too short if your heart is telling you to move back then I would personally go with your intuition, maybe move to a different state before you make your mind up.
