  1. hi maryrose, no problem with the casual per say, can see the logic for the company as other poster mentioned but there is no mention of a different pay rate or any explination of terms (like no sick pay). if they offer casual do they have to specify the terms cos at the moment i feel it is just a handy excuse to trial me with no impact on them if i don't work out. At a bit of a loss to be honest, thanks ozy
  2. so getting mixed messages from potential new employer, they are talking about a casual probation with a view to full time job. checked the government website and see casual explained and see full time with probation period explained , but it feels like casual probation is them fudging their responsibilities by taking advantage of the newbie. does anybody know the score, i am intrested in the full time job but dont want to waste my time with an employer who is just looking to take advantage. does casual on probation exist? ozy:nah:
  3. thanks, i am wondering what power the child support agency has to get a payment from a non aussie to pay for a child living in oz now? ozy
  4. quick question, does anybody know what is invoved in the centrelink pursuit of a parent for maintence when they live outside of oz? can they make someone pay? thanks ozy
  5. hi lady rainicorn, any advice on schools in the specialist sports programme, my son has been accepted out of catchment for one (i applied because i though it might help him settle to have lots of other kids with the same sport in common) but now that we have got here the reports of the area are very mixed! do schools offering the sports programe have to have decent sport facilities? should i be wary after hearing mixed reports about the area (thornlie) thanks ozy.
  6. Hi Yvonne, Could you pm me on costs & space available. Looking at July also. thanks Ozy
  7. Congrats keptray, Much deserved, best of luck with the job hunting!
  8. Mannu, I was checking online status every few hours and it never reflected the chenge untill whole page changed to include grant info! The automatic email reply from team 2 said my Co would reply within 7 days so i honestly expected to have to ring at that point, but he did get email so fingers crossed for you! I emailed on the 5th granted the 8th! hope that helps
  9. Morning, I have been employing the polite persistence approach lately as I am very tired of waiting. I have been ringing GH asking for an update, being told the date they are working on (mid august)then telling them I am several weeks behind that date and politely asking what is the procedure for missed files. It kind of throws the staff so they look my file up. Finally got told Monday it was finalised, nothing changed online so I rang again. I got a very nice lady who explained they have 3 systems!!! The one (system one) the CO can see is updated but the co is not notified about a change in status in a particular file (?). I was concerned it would never be noticed based on simonbrands experience so I asked what I could do. I was advised to email him which I did. Online system (system no 2)never reflected finalisation. He must have got my email as finally this morning got the grant. Huge delay has meant we only have 8 months to validate, because we were waiting so long we kind of gave up the prep work we had been doing (felt like jinxing it) so all a bit daunting now. Referral was by far the most stressful part of the whole process (even worse than IELTS). Really feel the system is not client friendly. Allowing the panel doc to outline why a file would be referred and even explaining a percentage of 'A' grade file will automatically be referred as a checks and balance system would go along way to putting peoples mind at ease. Having copies of the panel doctor's booklet for people to read through in the doctor’s offices would be great. Then if you know you have an existing condition you can be aware of the process. Everyone here is great to share and I would have cracked up long ago it was not for the great work people have done with spread sheet and even links to info. I know technically all the info is on the diac website but it is not easily found and when you are worried and stressed already it makes it extra hard. For those still waiting, keep ringing and politely asking, at the end of the day the move is your dream keep working on it! finally got it!!!
  10. Keptray, I have been waiting on an update on my son who was referred on the 2nd August, no reply to my email to GH from 3 weeks ago yet either! Rang GH last night and nice lady on the phone agreed that files from that date (2nd) should be finalised already (they are working on mid August). She promised to try and get somebody to look at it for me. (no news this morning, but fingers crossed). But I would recommend you ring them too, you're only one day behind my file, you should be finalised at this stage also. Good luck PS Congrats to all the grants lately, well deserved! :jiggy: PPS OMG the spreadsheet has grown huge! I was jokingly going to suggest we set the entry bar a bit higher but it seems lots of people have been waiting a really long time already! :arghh:
  11. Congratulations, So happy for you. Thank you so much for all the hard work you put into the thread and spread sheet, it has been a real support to us all! Best of luck for the future!
  12. Congrats Deroche! now apparently the hard work starts. best of luck in the future!
  13. Addisson05, Morning, when you do your medical they are graded A or B. An A grade is good health, a B grade is a pre-existing condition (if you answered yes to any of the medical questions, even about something that happened a few years ago). It seems a precentage of A grades are referred as part of a checking process and B grades automatically get referred. If you check the thread 'Medicals referred for more than 30 days lets connect' there is loads of medical details. Unfortunately the wait is awful, but hopefully it should be straightforward for you. The thread has links to the panel doctors booklets etc which should help you figure out why you were referred.
