  1. thanks everyone. the job is on a farm and would include some farm duties. Thank you for the advice
  2. Hiya, I have seen a few posts about some nanny jobs being able to sign off for your 2nd year WHV.... Has any one had experience with this? I am currently on my first one and already work as a nanny. Im from London, 4 years Nanny exp and a Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Thanks!
  3. Awesome. Thank you. I was assessed for the skilled migration visa and I think there was an issue with the UK degree only being a Diploma here. I will look into it now that I am here. Thank you!
  4. Hiya, I have been in Sydney since early Sept. This is my second visit on my first working holiday visa (I was on a student visa last time). I have a degree in Early Childhood Studies in the UK, which has been assessed by ACECQA as a Diploma level. Which means I am able to gain sponsorship working in a nursery, as I need to be assessed at a Teacher level. I am keen to get sponsorship sorted asap and get truly settled. I am actually a Nanny back in the UK, and I would love to be able to continue my career path. I would love to know if there is any way that I can seek out 457 sponsorship in this career path. Or if there is a way around it. I have heard of On-Hire Sponsorship - does anyone have experience with this? Thank you for help in advance!! Lauren
  5. We are looking into it. Just trying to cover all options really. Are you a tradie? Would be great to get some advice from someone in the same/similar trade that has made the move.
  6. Hiya, High quality painter and decorator for just over 15 years. 34 years old and looking for a sponsorship opportunity. Moving to Sydney in December just before xmas. Any help or advice as to where to look will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jacob
  7. Hiya! just wondering how you got on with finding work? My other half is a painter and decorator and has been for almost 20 years. He is looking for sponsorship in this field. Wondered if you had any tips?! thanks
  8. ooooh how stressful!! I hope we can all get to take our dogs with us! Im sure we will! I have had my franchise rabies shot and blood test done - not sure what the next step is.....looks like getting hold of an import permit? Also, my vet said that its 180 days from the date of rabies vaccination and not the blood test?
  9. Hey everyone, Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. On the DAFF webpage it says that the quarentine will close between late 2015 and 2018....If I have read it correctly! Aug/sept was the time that Pet Air were given and still, as far as I know, don't have a fixed date. It is very worrying don't get me wrong, but all we can do is make sure our beloved dogs are ready to go I guess. My dog is going for his Rabies blood test today (the vet who did his jab miscalculated the date of this blood test!) So we are now able to fly on the 14th so I am hoping that it is still open OR a air carrier will decide to fly snub nose dogs into Melbourne.
  10. Hi Bob, Thank you for your message! My destination is Sydney so thats awesome! I was concerned that if Sydney closed, Melbourne would not allow my dog in because as you know Melbourne doesn't accept snub nose from out side of Australia. HOWEVER if 7th September is ok, then I'll be in touch very soon to get my dog in with you guys - providing that the blood test goes well on the 11th March!!! Thats great to know RE the flight that arrives at 7am. That will be the flight I book for myself and then be in touch with yourselves to get quarantine booked and the permits ect. The vet is also sorting out his passport too. Thank you so much Bob Lauren
  11. You say to get booked......do you suggest that I should book my flight - and then once we have a date from DAFF, I can call you guys to get him on to my flight? My frenchie has his rabies jabs, and has his rabies blood test booked for 11th march, which makes 180 days 7th Sept. I will happily book flights for that day! And Melbourne currently do not accept snub nose dogs right? Do you think it is likely that it will stay like that? Surely Australia won't put a stop to any more adorable frenchies running about! Also, Bob while you're here Ill ask you another quick question....the flight I am looking at on the 7th sept arrives in Sydney at around 7am ish - Will there be someone to take care of my dog? Its just all the other flights have two or three stops which is obviously a no go with a frenchie on board! (Just to clarify, I am looking at Qantas at the mo).
  12. Hey Emma, I am also hoping to move my French Bulldog to Sydney with me September 2015. I am awaiting to hear from PetAir UK on the info about the Sydney quarantine closure - as the aussie gov have only given them "aug/sept" as a date so far. It has left me feeling real nervous How are your plans coming along Emma? Lauren
  13. Hiya Thank you for your message! Its great to hear from someone that has done it! Do you mind if i ask you a few questions? Was you on the same flight as Hardy? Where you allowed to visit him during his stay in quarantine? Yeah, I am super nervous about moving him, but also reassured by your experience. Although Hardy over heated, it is nice to know they were keeping an eye on him to take him inside to cool down!! I have read that quarantine only feed dogs once a day, so I was expecting my boy to lose weight as I feed him two meals a day. I have only gained a quote from PetAir UK so far. Although this was just to gain an idea of price whilst working out the budget, so will need to obtain a new quote and will look into other options. Thank you so much for your help every one!
  14. That would be amazing if you could let me know how to all goes!! I had my quote from Per air uk, however they advised that I go via Dubai. Did you choose to go via Canada? Thanks ?
  15. Hiya, I am also looking into moving my french bulldog to Sydney. Did you manage to find a way to safely get your frenchie over there? Thanks, Lauren
  16. Hi Nicholas, Brilliant Thank you for the advice on area, we have only been able to look on google maps/earth ect to get a very vauge idea of what the towns look like! and everthing looks so far away from each other! Will have a look into corws nest - thank you for the heads up! I dont mind a short commute, maximum would probs be about 30 mins. I was thinking of checking in to a hostel for our arrival and then hoping to secure a place once were in Australia. $500 is our absolute maximum so anything under is great! Night life sounds great , also oppertunity to get some part time bar work maybe? Thank you!
  17. Hi! A massive help! Thank you How long did it take you to get into a property? Im worried about the time scale as I need to be in somewhere by the 17th-25th feb and ill only be arriving arounf the 30th Jan - is this enough time roughly do you think? Im not renting at the mo, as ive been staying back with my parents for 3 years so no landlord letters for me and the same goes for everyone else that will be living me! Could i get a character ref type thing done? I have an aussie friend thats over here at the mo and she's a teacher so i was going to ask her if she wouldnt mind. About area - I ma just going on price and radius of Macquarie Uni so i dont really know anything about any areas, so fingers crossed they are not too bad!! Im well up for making freinds with the estate agent to get us in somewhere quickly lol!! And the Bond is basically like a security deposit over here isnt it? And do most landlords offer a 6 month agreement? i think im just over complicating things but I just dont want to be cut short of time. Sorry for even more questions and thank you sooooo much for your help!! xxx

  24. Hello! Im a student from london and Im going on a exchange to Macquarie uni in Sydeny from end of Jan to June/july 2013 and Im stressing about accommodation! There will be three of us in total and are hoping to rent a 3 bed property for the duration, but I have no idea how the process works or whether we are able to rent. We enrol at Macquarie mid/end of feb and need to be in a property pretty quick upon arrival. We are hoping to arrive in sydney around 30th Jan 2013. I have been looking around the Epping area - is this a nice area? Or can anyone suggest a nice area with in commuting distance of the uni and places to shop and work ect. Can any one help in giving me any advice and how long it all takes as we will arrive with no where to stay (will be booking into a hostel short term) and as I say we need to be in a property asap upon arriving! I am totally new to all of this and have never been to Australia, so any help we be great!! Thanks Lauren x
