  1. Frank, check previous my comment. There are certain situations in which DIAC issue a Tourist visa after they have denied you once. But like I said, my case was completely different from the OP's.
  2. I was denied a tourist visa in February this year, but was granted one in October. My case was completely different from that of the OP (I was onshore when I lodged my PR application, then went offshore after getting fed up of waiting for 4 years. Couldn't travel back to Australia coz my Bridging visa B had expired and Bridging visas are only issued onshore). In my case, I was told I would need evidence that my PR application was nearing completion (pre-grant notification), to be allowed back onshore. So it is possible to get another visa, only if your circumstances change when you are re-applying for the visa.
  3. Benoli, any update yet? Hoping 2013 will bring something good for you and your family.
  4. Two weeks is nothing! I waited for my application to be processed for 4 years!!!
  5. Unless they've changed, immigration usually give Bridging Visa B on the spot
  6. Hey guys Just dropping by to say a quick hello. I've noticed lots of new members, and I'm hoping that it's a sign that most if not all the members that I know have already had their medicals finalised and visas granted. Hang in there people. Ur day is coming soon too.
  7. Thanks bma! It all worked out well in the end. Because I didn't have a valid visa to re-enter the country, I was advised to apply for a visitor's visa which I did and was granted. I got back to Australia on 6th November, and 3 days later (9th November), my permanent residency was granted. The gloom that filled my life for the last 4 years is finally over :-)
  8. Your best bet is visiting the immigration office as they can offer you the best guidance. All the best.
  9. Unfortunately, no applicant is able to access the health check results. Medicals are processed in Sydney by Global Health, and the only people who have access to them is the Global Health (GH) team, Medical Officers of Commonwealth (MOC) and panel doctors. The only thing you can do is check online using TRN and password, to see if your medical status has changed from referred to finalised....I know the pain of waiting, but when it comes to medicals, all you have to do is wait!
  10. Just curious, what visa are you currently on now? If you are on Bridging visa A, you can study without applying for a student visa. It might be worth popping in to the immigration offices to double check with them.
  11. Thanks Mannu, and congratulations on your visa grant too!
  12. Thank you Indyanexpress! I sure hope my story can encourage those who are still waiting. Could you kindly update the timeline tracker. You put down the grant date as 8th November. It's 9th November.
  13. I've just read this and I had to laugh. While I did apply for the 885 visa 4 years ago, not sure where you got 7th September from. If you look at my signature, my medicals were referred on 9th August, finalised on 19th September and then I had to apply for a tourist visa to re-enter the country, as I had gone offshore last year. My tourist visa was granted on 31st October, and when I returned to Australia, my 885 was granted on 9th November.
  14. GH= Global Health. This is where all medicals for immigration purposes are sent. MOC= Medical Officer of Commonwealth. The MOC who is obviously a medical professional goes through all medicals that have been referred. The Department of Immigration and Citizenship has absolutely nothing to do with the medicals, and only updates the immigration website once they get the go-ahead from GH.
  15. That's the correct number, but the best time to get hold of them is at 2:30pm Sydney time.
  16. Great news! My visa was granted 09 November, 2012  Thank you all for the encouragement, prayers and support, this site kept me sane. For those still waiting, don't loose hope. If mine has come 4 years later, yours will come too. Indyanexpress/pumpkinhead, could you please update the spreadsheet? Don't forget to include the tourist visa which was granted last week (and has now ceased).
  17. I've been back to Australia for 3 days already, and still no word from my CO, even after I emailed her my itinerary, and sent a an email to confirm that I had arrived back. Was hoping that for once things would go smoothly for me, and I wouldn't have to wait, considering how many other things I've had to wait for throughout my entire application process, but noooooooo! The day isn't over, so I'm remaining hopeful.
  18. I am officially back in Australia :-) Landed 3 hours ago. I've just emailed my CO to let her know that I'm back, so praying that any time now, my four year wait will be finally over...fingers crossed, but let me first catch up on some much needed sleep, after traveling for 29.5 hours.
  19. Hi everyone some good news from me today. I finally got my tourist visa the day before yesterday. Heading back to Australia this Sunday, and hopefully when I get back it won't take too long for the grant of my 885 visa  Thank you all for your prayers and encouragement, and watch this space for more good news from me soon. Bless you all.
  20. Wow! Ronku, was thinking about you today, as our meds were referred at around the same. CONGRATULATIONS! So happy for you, and wishing you all the best in your future plans. Still waiting for my final visa, as I had to apply for a temporary one to return to Australia first (waiting for the temp one at the moment). I think I have become immune to this waiting game, but I'm hoping and praying I will get it soon.
  21. Wow! Congratulations Indyanexpress! So very happy for you :-)
  22. Thank you Indyanexpress and everyone else who is keeping me in prayers. I am praying for all of you that are still waiting for your medicals to be finalised, that it will be done soon. Let us hang in there and keep the faith.
  23. It's been one month and a couple of days since my medicals were finalised and I received the pre-grant notification from my case officer requesting me to return to Australia for a decision of my 885 visa. Been waiting for a month for my Visitor's visa to be processed (usually takes 10 working days). In that month, I have prayed, cried, emailed the Nairobi High Commission, prayed and cried some more. Even at the last leg of the race, I have been sitting at the edge of my seat hoping that each new day will be better than the last. Today, I have ran out of tears and I am running out of prayers, so I will look up to God, for I really need a miracle.
  24. I have rejoined the bandwagon of those on the waiting list! The visitor's visa that was to take 10 working days for processing has taken a month and I'm still waiting. It's times like this that make me wonder why I left Australia in the first place
  25. Congratulations Wendy! Wishing you all the best in your new adventure
