  1. Well after years of planning myself and my wife and soon to be born baby will be moving from Sunny Stockport near Manchester in England to the Sun Shine Coast. We have family living in the Palmwoods area so that is where we will initially be based.... weve been on holiday a couple of times and really like the beaches near-by and we literally cant wait to get over there and get cracking now. Any one on here currently living in that area or on the Sunshine Coast? Ive got a few general questions I wouldn't mind asking. We land at the end of July after a short stay in Dubai and a stop in Melbourne to watch Man City play Real Madrid.
  2. We're going to need all the suitcase room we can get, although I do like the idea of taking it on the plane.
  3. cheers everyone! Out of the box it will be
  4. Well, after many years of chasing Visas and waiting to sell our house it looks like were off to Aus in a few weeks. We are expecting a baby and my wife is very keen on a trolley from the uk, we are shipping all our belongings from the uk to Aus with a company we've had recommended to us. However, when we mentioned shipping a brand new trolley with them they mentioned that we might have to pay tax on the item.....I cant see how its any different from the rest of our belongings really.....anyone on here have experiences of paying import tax on similar items?
  5. Count me in for this. My wife an I received our VISAS at the end of 2013, we haven't made the move yet as we actually had our wedding June 2104. We are now going to make to the move in the coming months, house is on the market, hopefully get the flights booked for June/July. Currently based in Stockport Uk, will be moving over to the Sunshine Coast (initially). I'm 30 and my wife is 28! Bring on the sun :notworthy:
  6. Hi All, C/O was assigned on 15/07/2013 (BG). He requested that we email all of the remaining documents and not upload online. All of these, including Police Clearance Certificates, were returned on 05/08/2013...... We are yet to receive any response. Is this usual? We have since sent a further email to clarify everything has been received and is processing, as our deadline to respond has now elapsed, however, yet again we have had no response. How long should we leave it before we telephone the office? We just want to know that everything is in order and has been received as necessary.
  7. Morning, Yes the link to medicals disappeared around a week ago.
  8. hey guys, not been on here for a while but im just looking for some advice. We lodged our Visa request on the 10th June. We have had our medicals and we have been assigned a case officer. The case officer informed us to not bother uploading any more documents to the web page and instead send them directly to him. Well we did that 3 weeks ago and we are yet to hear anything back (apart from the standard email aut replies).... So my question is, how long does it take to for them to verify your final documents and medicals? Many thanks.
  9. Sorry, yes I meant 190. i can't apply for 189 as its not on the list.
  10. Thank you for your help. With this info I think I will apply for the 189 visa in NSW, I have to send a copy of my passport so this will hopefully give me the required "English" levels.
  11. My job is classified as Systems Admin so I dont think a 189 visa is an option. My other issue is that I paid a migration agent to complete my EOI, do you have to log on to the skill select web page to see if you have an invite?
  12. Guys, i feel like haven't explained myself very clearly on my previous post. I am an English citizen with 55 point scored at present, i require 5 points to gain the minimum of 60 required. I deem the easiest possible way to collect these points is to gain state sponsorship (NSW). Aside from this I have not actually completed the IELTS test although I still have the required points total....will this hinder my application for state sponsorship? Many thanks and Merry Christmas.
  13. Afternoon guys, I'm just completing the form the apply for a 190 visa for NSW. The form has a section for English Test Results.......if I haven't taken the IELTs test what should I enter in the score boxes?
  14. Has anyone completed an EOI yet, is straight forward?
  15. Thanks for the info, either way it looks like I should start my EOI. The agency are looking for payment to assist me with this, is it worth completing on your own?
  16. Afternoon all, Its my first post on here so please go easy on me . My girlfriend has family in Queensland on the Sunshine Coast and we are looking at making the big move. We have been in touch with an agency for a number of months and its seems I will be able to qualify for either visa 189 or 190 as I am rated a Systems Administrator. Today I received my positive skills assessment from the ACS , giving me a rough point estimate of 55. It seems there are now a couple of routes I can take:- Apply for my EOI and start to pursue State Sponsorship living in SA or ACT. The only downside is that my family live in Queensland so I would prefer to live in the same state as them, not SA or ACT. Apply for the IELTs test which on passing would give me over 60 credits to then apply for a 189 visa, leaving me free from state sponsorship and able to live in Queensland. I suppose the main question is, if I take state sponsorship in say ACT, would I have any legal obligation to live there and how long would it last for? The agency I am using have been very helpful, but because of the time difference it inst always easy to get quick, straight forward answers. Any help would be really appreciated. FTG44 xxxx
