  1. Hey, sorry about delay I've been do busy! If you still have details of that advert I'd greatly appreciate. How are ye getting on now? We had the relocation guys here today packing up all of our stuff! Exciting times also stressful!!! We flying this Sunday and arrive in Perth on Monday! X
  2. O that's good! Well Jamie had chosen a few places to go but western power offered Geraldton. We are both happy with to go there however I'm a bit worried about getting work. Im a primary school teacher so hopefully I get relief teacher or something. You all set for the move? Are u renting accommodation? Why have you decided on gero?
  3. Hi! we are all in the same boat here!! we probably wont get to geraldton until end of october, going to Perth first. Have you work already arranged in geraldton already?
  4. Hey! Good to hear from you! My fiancé is from outside Glasgow and I'm Irish! How are you getting on in Geraldton, do you like it? We got our visa granted yesterday, delighted!! Jamie starts his training with WP 17th sept. any pointers as regards our move and Geraldton?
  5. Hiya, I just noticed your post i have sent you a pm. Health care was very strange... because i'm Irish, i'm automatically covered so only Jamie had to organise some! I found that bizzare but I was delighted!! Yeah we sent all of our forms back last week, i'm not sure if their is a timescale, we just wanted to get ours back asap! I know i'm the same, nervous about the job situation but sure we'll be grand! I'm very excited too!!! x

    De facto

It is a relationship that consists of you and your partner living together for more than 6 months. You do not have to be married to your partner yet.
  7. No I'm not taking eletricals apart from tv and hair straightner, yes I'm going to stock up on toiletries. Jamie finally got emailed last Friday from Tara and then the relocation guy emailed him today with the visa documents to fill out. We have his contact details so we are going to phone him tomorrow. Did dustin receive an email yet? X

    Furniture

Thank you for the advice! The reason for buying the furniture is because my partners company are going to pay for shipping costs and we've heard that furniture can be quite expensive in oz. we might just unpack our items so.

    Furniture

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone could help with my query. My partner and I were planning on buying new furniture (including wooden wardropes), kitchen utensils, etc. to take with us to oz. we were just going to leave them packed in their boxes as we are due to move mid August. However, I have just read somewhere that if items are not owned for more than 12 months they must be declared and tax may have to be paid. can anyone give me more info on this? or maybe advise us? Thanks, Lisa x
  10. Hi Kate! How are yous getting on with the whole Oz planning? I'm finding it pretty difficult as WP are very laid back with updating the progress of visas etc. All we have been told is that it will be mid August when we fly however, we have not yet received an exact date which is really starting anxious. I just hope they don't spring everything on us! Jamie recently signed the relocation package forms however, we don't know anything about when we will get the container or when we need to have our stuff ready for shipping so again i'm not enjoying the lack of information. What are ye doing about taking furniture, car etc? Several people are saying that furniture is quite expensive in WA so it would be advisable to take what we can. However, I read somewhere that if you don't own items for at least 12 months you must declare them and pay tax. Do you know anything about that? Jamie and I had planned to go on a shopping spree to Argos and Ikea but that would mean our items are not 12 months old Don't know what to do. We were going to take my car as cars are very expensive. We assume the relocation package will include transferring the plates etc but again we are not sure. I know I'm beginning to sound very negative but I like to be pretty organised, especially if we are due to fly mid August!! O as regards the police certs mentioned in my last post that was just for me with the whole teaching thing!! Please feel free to update in on anything!! Lisa x

What you think? is it worth taking over? changing registration plates? Car tax & insurance for this type of car in WA? The Australian market value of this car is just not high enough to justify bringing it with you unless you are quite attached to the car and really want to keep it. It would work out to owe you probably around $3,000 more than it would be worth. Probably a better option to sell before you come to Australia if you can get a decent price for it. I hate doing myself out of work but I have to be honest with my advice. Regards, Craig. Hi Craig! Me again just wondering if you could break down the costs on how the car would end up owing me 3,000 dollars. Have you taken into account my partners company are shipping the car over? Sorry for the annoyance it's just we can't buy a new car before we go as we are going in August. If my car broke down would it be easy enough to get the suitable parts? Thanks Craig.
  12. Hi, I am going to sell my vauxhall astra 1.9 and buy something more suitable and valuable to take over to Australia. What would you recommend??? I was looking at a 2002 Toyota Celica 1.8 VVTi 3 dr coupe, worth £1000 in uk and on redbook i see similar ones advertised at around $33000 is this correct? can u help????
