  2. Hi All I will be going away (leaving Oz) for a sabbatical for a year starting in September, and will return again to Sydney September next year. I am single and I live alone. I have some questions which hopefully you can help me with: 1) I am looking to store the majority of my household items here in the UK for a year. I'm looking for a pack + carry + store service. I have the usual stuff like furniture, TV, fridge, microwave, vacuum, fans etc. Has anyone got a service to recommend? 2) I'm also looking at the option of selling some of the furniture if possible. Has anyone got any advice what is the best way to go about selling them? Gumtree? They are fairly new, and I'm reluctant to sell them as I'm going away only for a year? Has anyone got any recommendation? Many thanks!
  3. Hello All After Googling around, I understand that the electrical appliances, e.g. kettle, toaster etc from the UK can be used in Australia too, although because it uses a different plug, I'll have to use an adapter. Having said that, I've read around and also advice from my dad (who's an electrician), told me that for appliance that would be used for a long period of time, it is best if I change the plug to an Australian plug. Just wanted to know if this is what everyone else do in Australia? Many thanks!
  4. I didn't actually think that far as my visa is sponsored, including the cost. I suppose you will just have to ask them directly although the feeling is that you'll have to write it off.
  5. Hi I got mine through BUPA. Speak to them, you will have to pay now, but they will 'activate' your healthcare only when you arrive in Aus, so you're not paying for months whilst you're still in UK.
  6. I'm flying on the 29th and I've just bought my ticket yesterday  The ticket is about £900.
  7. It's not essential, just I've been told that the public transport is not as good as London and a car would be more useful. It's something I'll think about a bit more, but just allowing for it now. I'll have a look around West of Moore Park, thanks.
  8. Just realised I couldn't edit my post. I am looking at a few removals company, but have read some good things about SevenSeas. I'm a single chap and not moving anything too bulky, albeit I have my bicycle with me! Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks.
  9. Hello All First off all, excited that I will be relocating to Sydney Australia in the not too distant future. I have some questions, which hopefully every here would be able to help me with! In Sydney, with the Woolloomooloo area being where I go to work everyday, where would be the best place to live in? I prefer to cycle/jog to work so somewhere quiet (no nightclubs etc) within 4-6KM radius would be great. I intend to drive, but would definitely appreciate having a local market nearby. I'm looking for a studio, with a parking space (or parking available) for around 400AUD per week excluding bills. I've looked at a few places, e.g. Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Moore Park, Newton, and Alexandria. I have my eyes on Darlinghurst or Newtown but would like to know how is the area like? Many thanks in advance for your help!
