Hi. I gave the agent my bank statement which had a healthy balance at that time as I had just moved to Oz. I also gave them a letter explaining that I was new to Oz and I was due to start a job and how much it would pay. My manager and banker both kindly agreed to provide references for me which was amazing coz I had only been here for 1 week and was not sure where I'ld get the references from. I think they basically want to know that you'll be able to pay the rent. However, Perth really has a rentals problem so may not be as easy to get into. Good luck with your search.

Hi I got my 457 visa yesterday and the instructions were to go and get a label at the nearest oz office. I 'll be going on monday morning and flying out monday evening. It could possibly be because I am originally from zimbabwe but am now a british citizen so not sure where that leaves you.

If it's any help, I had e-mailed the australian high commission and they replied the next day confirming that my visa had been granted so they may give you some sort of an update. I never had a case officer to e-mail. Good luck and I hope you hear from them soon. I know how frustrating it can be.

Hey All. I finally have my visa. It's been such a harrowing experience. Wishing you guys all the best and thank you for sharing your experiences. It gave me comfort to know I was not the only one going through this, hence allaying my fears that maybe it's coz I is black! lol

Took months of not hearing anything. Even after interview, it took them a few weeks to confirm I had the job. It's an exercise in extreme patience.

Morning all Got up this morning to call Global Health and only got their voicemail. However, checked status today and it says my meds were received yesterday and finalised today and visa being processed further. We are finally getting somewhere which is just as well coz I've handed in my notice for 3.8.12.lol. Insane! I know.
