  1. Freesia, much sense do you speak! Forums are great for info, meeting people and a sense of going through things together. I'm on several, and it's the same there too. If you put this many people in a room for hours on end, there would inevitably be some that didn't get along. We all know a forum isn't real life but sometimes I think people lose sight of that. You don't 'know' someone until you have spent q good amount of time with them...until then, I too think politeness and non judgement are key to a happy forum :D

  2. For info we were told the feed Advantage in Eastern Creek. We now have our 2 on Coprice, working dog food, with occasional BARF raw mixed in. They are doing well, with no sloppy pick ups for us... :)

  3. Yep...it was a freight terminal for Qantas & others on Hibiscus St. Quite easy to find if you print a map off...right next to a rail track, and they have a 'safe' enclosure so you can meet & greet your pups before putting them in the car. We went straight to Kedron Brook Floodway for a leash free walk/paddle in the river before going home :)

  4. We collected our 2 border collie crosses from Qantas freight, Brisbane yesterday! They are totally fine. Very pleased to see us, just as they were, only hotter :)

It's fab to have our whole family together again!

We used Golden Arrow then Jetpets...both of whom were FAB.

They had 4 visits/walks with Darlene the Dog Walker (PM me if you'd like her email/no) in the last 2 weeks of their stay in quarantine.

I'd advise researching dog food now so you know where you're at when they arrive and are prepared for the cost: we're giving them Advantage, as that's what they had in Eastern Creek, combined with some RAW/BARF food..which you can buy frozen in portions at most pet shops & will hopefully be a bit cheaper.

If you have time, try research & visit dog parks/beaches close to where you end up renting, it helps to know where you'll be walking them & you can meet some local dog owners...

Lastly, buy tick collars so that you can go walking straight away & there is no chance of them being bitten by a paralysing tick, which are apparently quite evil...

You'll be so busy for next few weeks..they'll be back with you before you know it :)

  5. Morning! I wonder if anyone can tell me the quickest/easiest/most economical way of setting up a business for my husband's tiling/stone work? He works away 5 days/wk so I'm going to try & sort it myself in the next few days. We're starting to run low on $$ & need an ABN pronto, so he can invoice for the last month's work. Any pointers appreciated TIA Megsx

  6. Thanks Srgs...I had a google & thought as much ;( Oh well...I think we'll still ship it, use it for this year/next (or until the sun fries it) then buy new when we can actually afford one...our 2 dogs have just cost us £7k *shudder* I would prolly struggle to sell it this time of year anyway...plus, I've already scrubbed the dang thing so it's coming with!!

Shippers arrive tmrw...*runs off to finish a million small tasks*

  7. Thanks, hadn't thought of UV protection so will absolutely investigate!

Good advice re the pegs as well. (Bins pegs) I had thought to write a label, but customs forms is of course the place to mention it, so thanks for that too! I'm prepared for them to open the boxes of outdoor stuff & have scrubbed & Jeyes-ed the lot, but TBH since scrubbing it the tent is so tightly stuffed in it's bag I'm hoping they'll take one look at it, think 'sod that' and move on to the stuff that I know IS spotless!

  8. We have a manhoosive and much loved tent which I spent most of today vacuuming & cleaning with Jeyes. Has anyone else shipped camping gear? The camping chairs, table, tent poles & pegs are spotless, and I'm pretty confident the tent is as clean as I could get it, the question is, is it clean enough? Also, even if it is up to Aqis standard, will we be hit with a big fee for them to inspect it? I'm sending wellies, dog leads etc & they are also now immaculate...will it help my cause that everything else is spanking, or will they still pull tent out and go over it with a fine tooth comb? Aargh this is such a minefield...

Tomorrow I have to do the bikes (any advice here as well??) start cleaning hubby's tools, not to mention that I still haven't sold his van or my car and we leave on Sunday...How I wish DH was here to help *wail*

I'm just thinking about seeing hubs for the 1st time in nearly 4 months, and the thought of us all sitting in the family hammock on the veranda in 9 days time is pulling me thru :D

  9. Hi there :) We have 2 collie crosses and they're currently fed on Skinners working dog kibble (complete) which has the added benefit of being tax free here in the uk. Is working dog food tax free in Aus? We're moving to West Brisbane next month and it would be good to find out if there is any point in my looking for rural suppliers who might sell working dog food.

Also, can anyone outline the cost, conditions & process of registering our 2 hounds with the council?

    Thanks in advance :)
