  1. thanks for your reply - my daughter has a small hole in her heart - I think you may of replied to one of my earlier posts. She currently takes medication for the condition but i've done some research and its inexpensive. Fingers crossed we hear something back soon x
  2. Hello everyone We went for my daughters medicals on 21st June and I checked the Immigration website and it changed on the 23rd June to the following "further medical results referred". Does anyone know when we might hear something back? The waiting around is so hard - I even know my passport number back to front i've typed it in so many times!
  3. Hi Everyone My daughter has her medical booked for this thursday at Bridgewater Hopsital with Mr Millan. I have heard lots of positive reports about Dr Smith but just wondered if anyone had recently had their medicals done at this hospital by this doctor. Hope he has as lovely feedback as the other chap
  4. Hi Everyone We have our appointment this thursday pm at the bridgewater hospital in Manchester. Will keep everyone updated xx
  5. Hi Loopylou that is really good to know. Its not by any chance Dr Robert Gusto? My daughter is under the care of Mr Gordon Gladman at Alder Hey and he mentioned about one of his former colleagues going out there. I'm not sure why Zara needs a medical but it maybe as she needs a follow up appointment/and or she hasn't been operated on so isn't classed as cured yet? XX
  6. Hi Flexi We have been requested to attend medicals (7 days after submitting our Visa Application). I've not been able to make an appointment yet but should be doing that tomorrow morning. I will let you know what happens on the day etc and our timescales. P.s. I spoke to my daughter's cardiologist this morning and he said in causes such as my daughters they usually approve the Visa, its just if we get an akward so and so that we would be very unlucky not to get through. Good luck with everything xx
  7. Hi there Stacy I hope you get on ok - I will be watching for some positive news for you hun! My daughter has a heart condition (hold) and we have also been asked to attend a medical which i'm dreading. Keep positive xxx
  8. The company who are sponsoring me are using a migration lawyer (not sure if this is the same or if they are as well up on such things?). She has just sent me this update: We have in fact just received notification that the Department has approved the nomination application for your position with X. We have checked on the status of your visa application and can advise that the Department received the application and began processing it on 7 June 2012. Currently there are no comments on the system regarding medicals. However, we continue to check the status of your application daily and notify you of its progression. I'm guessing that no news is good news for the timebeing? Anyone have any idea as to when they may ask for the medicals side now the above has been approved? I've asked the same question to the migration lawyer but she hasn't replied (not sure if that is because she doesn't know?!) Thanks Louise
  9. Hi peeps I'm doing some investigating work to see if we are going to cost the ozzy system more than the $21k over 5 years and if we will be able to get through the door based on costings. My daughter is given Diurectics as she was born with a hole in her heart (she does not need an operation as the hole is starting to close spontaneously by growing a flap of skin - in fact she is currently being weaned off the diurectics and is likely to be off them for good come Feb 2013. At present she is taking Frusomide & Spironolactone (both liquid form as she is an Infant) I am struggling to find the costings so anyone who is currently aware of the costs would be helping me out a great deal! Also she will need a yearly echo with a cardiologist just to check on how the hole is closing - any idea of that cost would also be gratefully received! Thanks in advance x
  10. Hi Everyone I posted on here the other day about my daughter having a hole in her heart. It has been mentioned to me that we will probably be asked by DIAC for my daughter to undergo a medical. We sent the Visa application a couple of days ago (via a migration lawyer). We weren't asked for one immediately but I was wondering what is common practice if they see a potential health issue that they wish to explore? Any advice appreciated in terms of timescales - I keep jumping on my emails at 5am every morning to check. Very nervous Louise
  11. Just out of interest how much are the medicals? Just so I know roughly what to expect xx Thanks again everyone
  12. Hi thanks for your replies guys Out of interest what happens with regards to the standard medical? Will I need one too? Kind regards Louise
  13. Hi Everyone We are now in the process of applying for our 457 visa (we are using a migration lawyer through the company that are sponsoring me). I was looking to find out if anyone else has been in a similar situation to us. My 1 year old daughter was born with a VSD (a hole in her heart). She has been under the care of our local pediatric doctor and is also regularly reviewed by a cardiologist from Alder Hey. They are very pleased with her progress and do not believe that she will need an operation as she has been "thriving and doing well". Her medication hasn't been upped for 6 months which is a good indicator that she does not need to be on them much longer, as this is generally done on body weight (which has been steadily been going up). Clearly one of the questions on the application is about heart disease which I have therefore answered yes to (a hole in the heart is actually a congenial heart defect but some class this as a congenial heart disease). With the application I have included a very positive letter from our local pediatrician explaining that she is doing well, what medication she is on and also it states that the hole looks like it will eventually close spontaneously due to a flap of skin growing on it and that she does not need to see a cardiologist for at least 12 months). Has anyone out on this forum got a heart defect or who has heart disease that has had their VISA go through. I am so worried we will be turned down! Best wishes L X
  14. hi everyone just to update you things were resolved with work and i've managed to get my references etc and have just received a verbal offer. Now its the fun game of waiting for the VISA stuff! Thanks so much for all your help xx
  15. Hi I am at second stage interviews with a number of firms in Brisbane (I work within Recruitment) and I am confident that I will be getting 1 or 2 offers in the next week or so. My issue is this - I have been employed by my current firm for 6 years. It is a very small business and at present I am going through a grievance process with my employer - to cut a long story short I raised a grievance with my boss as he has basically appointed someone into my job whilst I've been on maternity leave (I am told I have a very strong case for Pregnancy Discrimation and a number of other claims, however I don't want to go down the tribuneral route as I would rather walk away with a severance deal if something can be agreed). Obviously as there is some unpleasantness at work, I am starting to worry about what will happen if the immigration peeps need some evidence as to what my job is/skill set etc. Does anyone know what i'm likely to need in order for my 457 to be successful? The guy who has lined the interviews up for me knows about what is going on with my boss so is likely to be able to smooth things out from the employers perspective - its just the visa issue i'm concerned at. I do know all the companies that I am likely to get offers from use migration experts. Any advice really appreciated! x
  16. hi everyone thanks for your answers - sorry meant private healthcare not medicare (me being a dumb ass lol!). In terms of getting onboard with a doctor how would I go about doing that? My little girl has a hole in her heart (its not a big problem it sounds alot worse than it is) and will need to probably have a Echo (heart scan) about every six to nine months by a cardiologist. The only treatment she has regularly is oral duriectics which I need to get on perscription about every 8 weeks (i'll bring a supply with me for the first couple of months). I'm assuming i'll need to register with a doctor there first who will refer us to a cardiologist at the designated hospital? Thanks again this website is a godsend! Louise x
  17. Hi there I was just hoping you folk could help me out a bit. We are hoping to move to Brisbane at the beginning of August on a 457 sponsorship and we are in the process of looking at houses to rent on the web - but I need some assistance with other more generalist costings in the following areas: 1 - Food/Groceries budget P/W - in the UK we spend approx £70 2 - Public Transport costs - I believe there is a card system for area? 3 - Mobile Phone costs - I spend approx £30 per month on mine at the moment (Iphone with 3G) 4 - Wireless Internet cost for home 5 - Gas/Electricity/Water (will be living in a 2 bedroom place at first -probably a small house) 6 - To fill up a small car tank what is the cost of petrol - probably automatic, something like a small Mazda Auto 7 - Council Tax/rates if applicable? 8- Cost of visiting the doctor/GP? We are getting the mid/high range of Medicare 9 - House Insurance Thanks in advance! Louise
