  1. Some pics from our holiday to Perth... The view from Kings Park: Cottesloe Beach: And, Oz, Land Rovers & Chicken, my 3 favorite things in one pic. Regards Greg
  2. I'm told by my agent that I need an 8 in all four sections in order to progress with the application. I have 8 and above in reading, listening and speaking, it's just the writing test mark that is holding me back. I have sent them my dyslexic report each time I've taken the test, and as a result i have had 15mins of extra time in the reading and writing sections. The woman i spoke to on the phone told me that I get the extra time, but was unable to tell me if they take dyslexia into account when marking it. Cheers Greg
  3. Across the all 3 tests I have got 7.5, 7.0 and 7.5 for the writing test. The thing is I'm not overly confident about it as I have dyslexic and that leads me to think that this mark is more than likely to be correct. I think I will give the test another go, I shall just have to study harder and keep my fingers crossed. Cheers Greg
  4. Hello everyone, I have recently got the ILETs results from my 3rd test and I have scored 8 and above in all but my writing, which came in at a 7.5. I have been told I need all 8 in order to progress with migration. Is it worth me appealing for a remark of my writing test, or should I just go back and have a forth crack. My partner tells me she read somewhere, that I am very unlikely to get a higher banding if I get a remark done. Can I book another test and also apply for a remark of this test, or will the new test cancel out the test I am appealing against? Greg
  5. Cheers guys, I have had a look around and applied for a couple of jobs, but I'm still going to crack on with my 189 visa. Does anyone know of any rail companies looking for people on the civils side? I have been searching the Seek job site and there are a lot of adverts for rail people, but they mostly seam to be on the signalling side. Greg
  6. Hello everyone, My partner Carrie and I are in the process of our 189 visa app and are hoping to move to WA. I’m a Railway Engineer and she is an administrator for an Asbestos removal firm. I have a degree in Railway Engineering, and work in the civil & structural maintenance side of the Rail industry. I sent my details to Engineers Australia and they have classified me as an Engineering Technologist. I was wondering what the opportunities are like on the Railways in WA, and what it is like to work on them. Greg
  7. Hello, My partner and I have started our application for a 190 visa and I would like to bringing my car with me. I expect this has been asked before, but: I have just been given the option to buy my company 2003reg Land Rover Defender, which I have been driving for 3 years, and was hoping to be able to bring it with me when i migrate. My question is, if i get my visa granted before I have owned her for 12 months, will i be able to leave her behind; still taxed, MOT'd, insured and registered to me, and then bring it over once the time has elapsed? Greg
  8. Hi everyone, This is my first time doing any sort of forum-type thing but there's so much experience on here - it seemed silly not to have access to it! My partner and I have recently appointed our Migration Agent after visiting WA twice in the last 9 months. His trade is on the SOL1 list so hopefully our application will be successful! Any tips on anything Oz-bound will be awesome! Many thanks, Carrie
