  1. hi guys,

Im in Auckland and got the grant letter last night.

Quick question though, do you have to do the evidencing in auckland, or can you use the grant letter to get back into Oz and then get it evidenced at the DIAC office?

my return flight is tomorrow and the "agency" that diac uses here says it will take 3 days to get the evidencing done...

    Im confused!

  2. amazing how much lesser time we spend on this thread once we have the grant! I do still have that mixed anxious-exciting feeling, but not of getting the visa, more like if we'll succeed in getting work and moving to Oz :)

i think i got addicted to this forum... i still check for updates like 4-5 times a day!

Anyways guys, off to Auckland tomorrow to get my visa evidenced... will keep you all posted on how it goes.

  3. Well mates, looks like it's my turn to liven up this thread

    I just received my grant.

Just wanted to thank you guys for all of your support, and I wish for those of you who are waiting a speedy grant! Also, this board is an amazing source of wealth - thank you so much again!!

By the way, my medicals were finalised on 28 May, and a day later today, I received my grant.:biggrin:

Congrats Sol2Oz... i like how you calmly delivered the news... lol!

Hope you have a great time in Oz.

  4. Quick response from the CO, Visa granted...

    Yipeeeeeeeeee...

The process lasted close to two years for me because of hiccups we faced along the way. The wait has been more than worth it... Now need to setup a date for the validation trip (Need to validate before Jan 2013), will try to go over in July or Aug to Melbourne. I want to search for jobs while on the validation trip. Suggestions on how to search for a job, or which month is likely to be more productive for job search in the field of IT / Software Development are most welcome.

    Congrats!!! http://www.seek.com.au might help

  5. Looking good Flo. Members of this thread are the best and im sure you will have the best time. i cant even bring myself to stop coming here... :D

and this is my first trans-generation migration so i am a bit psyched! LOL

  6. Hi Guys,

Traditionally this thread has been run on a voluntary basis. I took over from BPremji after his visa was granted in February 2012 and he in turn took over from TaniaHolmes when her visa was granted in December 2011. For this thread to remain active can I ask that someone consider taking over from me now that my visa is granted? I am at a stage where I need to focus my energies elsewhere as I am sure some of you will appreciate. Running the thread is simple enough. Also two members could perhaps share the effort with one running the spreadsheet and one updating the first page. I must say that I found running the thread to be very rewarding and I would hate to see it end at this stage. So if you want to step up and give this thread the attention it deserves then please let us know or send me a PM.

    Regards,

    SHandGH:wink:

i been dreading this very message... lol. SHandGH has been a legend at doing this!

  7. Thanks Oppyddrum!

We got our NZ visa in about 15 mins yesterday :)We will let the CO know today for our travel :)

    cool!

apparently, they don't acknowledge the itinerary (except for that automated message).

Anyways, last leg of the process... i cant wait till i get it done! lol

  8. Guys got a pre grant a couple of hours ago!!... We are so happy :)

    SHandGH please change our status.

Thanks guys for all the support and information. You have been tremendous :)

Oppyddrum, we are also planning to go to New Zealand.Would you be able to tell us the time required to get NZ visa? Any major issues or was it fairly simple? How long are you planning to be there for getting the grant? The pre grant letter is quite confusing.

    Regards

    Siddysweet

Congrats Siddysweet! on the NZ website, it takes about 15 days to process the visa, but if you walk into the NZ embassy in Sydney, it should happen same day... it took me 30 mins! its pretty easy actually, just take your pregrant letter, statement of account showing you have money for the trip (1000/person/month), the application, your passports, and (for 457 holders)maybe a letter from your employer stating your employment status and that your leave for the time period you plan to go has been approved.

You can go through their website for confirmation as to what else you need to take. oh, and all your family can be on one application... so convenient and cheap. :)

I am leaving Sydney on the 3rd of June, its a Sunday and i leave NZ on Wednesday evening. so 3 business days but 4 whole days. i hear NZ is quicker coming through with the visa so fingers crossed. i suggest you email your CO as soon as you land in NZ though, so that you can at least trigger the action in case it was going to be delayed.

i agree with you, that pre-grant letter is pretty confusing.

    Again, congrats!

  9. i promise, this has got to be the bestest week ever!!

Congrats Zee80 and Arunblr... its been a hell of a run guys.

Still wishing everybody who is waiting good luck and speedy allocations and grants!

  10. A big conrgats Oppyddrum! So are you having to hop over to NZ to get your visa granted when you re-enter Aus?

We are in Sydney and with some travelling coming up, really hoping we get ours granted while we are away already rather than having to book another trip for it!

Yea, have to go somewhere, NZ is my cheapest option, just got back from getting the NZ visitors visa today, by far the easiest process actually. got it in less than 30 mins. lol. It was harder to get to Sydney and find parking in the sydney CBD (where i paid A$49 for 2 hrs parking), than it was getting the visa!

Anyways, trip to Auckland in the first week of June. Sending my itinerary to my (very efficient) CO tonight, and i plan to send him another email the moment i land in Auckland to let him know i am out of the country... just in case he did not notice. ;D

Have you got all your PCCs in? i hope you get it while you are away, the extra trip can be a pain to the pocket and just a general pain.

  11. Huge congrats to Sol2Oz! was so happy to hear that your Co finally contacted you! and about your documents showing as "MET", mine still say "required" so i think if the CO doesnt say anything, you are all good.

Hope you get that grant soon!

by the way, is there anybody here who has gone through the "pre-grant process" lately? i need some clarification on how that works... just so i am clear.

  12. Turn Me PURPLE!!!!!!!

Got my pre-grant letter today! I emailed my CO this morning to let him know that i had uploaded everything he asked for and 8 hrs later, i got an email with a pre-grant Letter. Needless to say, i am pretty excited!

That being said, this pre-grant business comes with its own set of confusions, they have said i need to allow for at least 3 business days when i go offshore to get the visa evidenced, and i should send them details of my trip including time, date, flight number, destination, etc... and that they will not respond until the visa has been granted... so that means they will not respond till i am off shore (probably in NZ)?

Its a bit confusing but i am going to enjoy the moment first and worry about the rest 24hrs from now.

I will really like to thank the members of this thread, you all are an amazing bunch and i wish all those still waiting speedy allocations and grants!

  13. Hi

In general, if you have applied online, your document checklist might not get updated. However, in my case, my spouse's and child's medicals got updated in the checklist (they were outside australia), whereas mine did not get updated (i was in australia)...

when i checked with DIAC, they said that if we do medicals in australia, DIAC has access to medibank servers and therefore CO will directly access the information...hence there is a good chance that the document checklist will not get updated until a CO gets assigned and he/ she looks into your medicals..

Thanks for that. I hope my CO has looked at it cos Medibank sent it the same day he asked for it.

  14. Quick Question guys:

How do you know if/when your medicals have been finalized by DIAC? All my other documents still say required so i don't think the medicals on there will be changing either... or am i missing something?

  15. Guyz,

Please help me build some confidence...

I have applied for AFP on 10th APRIL and it reached AFP on 20th APRIL.

Please let me know the timelines for AFP, if any1 have applied recently.

AFP is the only document pending and rest all other documents are "MET".

    Thanks in advance.

Mine took a while as well. they recieved it on the 6th of april and didnt send it until 30th of april...

  16. That's great. It must have been torturous having ABPF since 7 April with no sort of CO contact whatsoever!

and.... in case anyone is wondering, nope - no sort of news for me whatsoever. :em4600:

its beginning to become ridiculous how they can just skip people like that. i am inclined to believe that the allocation has been done but the CO has not actually made a move yet... its impossible that your case hasn't been at least given to somebody! Still holding on to this week for you anyways.

I was wondering the other day, in what numbers do COs get allocated cases? 10s? 100s?

  17. Update on my situation...

Called DIAC yesterday about the CO requesting evidence of work experience when i didn't claim any points for work experience.

The lady was really curt and told me to reply the email with my concerns... I did and got a reply today that i do not need to provide the evidence of employment anymore *fist pump moment*

The clinic just confirmed that they have sent in the medicals and AFP have sent me the PCC for Oz, so everything is moving smoothly and i am glad my CO is one of those that responds to emails!

SN: does anybody know what the sch 6 points test is? the CO said i met the sch 6 points test...

  18. Hi All,

    I have a question.

Me and My husband applied for 175 sub class visa online on 14th December 2012(currently on a 457 visa in Sydney). We have completed our medicals and have received our PCC. I have been reading in this forum that people upload their PCC and medicals.

As far as my understanding goes we are not supposed to open the medical's envelope. I want to know how to upload them then? Also, where do you upload the documents unless a CO is assigned, because we do not have a CO yet.

    Hi Siddysweet,

I am also on a 457 in Newcastle and i applied for the 175 as well. the medicals are sent to you in an envelope but also sent to DIAC electronically. you should call the clinic you used (i assume Medibank) and ask them if they sent it electronically. they can confirm that for you. keep the envelops sealed though in my opinion just in case you have to forward it to DIAC yourself.

    http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/

The above link (1st 3 options on the page) shows you how to view the progress of your application and how to attach documents to your application.

    Hope this helps.

  19. A question to those who were already contacted by CO in the recent past. When you receive an email from CO then whether your online status says something like "an email sent to you" ?

Mine is just an ABPF... and i got the email within minutes of that happening.

everything is still showing required though.

  20. Ok, but what do you mean "evidence of employment claims"? :wideeyed: Did you submit your references initially? Gosh, I am really hoping I submitted everything!

I didn't, because i was going with the study requirement instead of the 12months work exp in the last 24 months thing. and i did not claim any points for work experience either, so its weird that they would ask for that. i replied though letting him know the situation, hope that gets sorted ASAP cos he's got my BP rising to high heavens now!

  21. I just got an email from the CO (team 6) asking for Evidence of employment claims... i did not claim any points for that though... im confused now.

@Sol2Oz: i had a feeling for both of us for this week... i believe that strongly.

My heart is pounding! now on hold to talk to somebody at DIAC... so far, 20 mins of holding. i need to clear this up.
