Citizenship

    3 months from start to finish. Apply late September, got test appointment almost three weeks later. Do the test and get approved the next following day. Approval letter sent one week later and called the department and they informed me my next ceremony is 18 Dec. Cheers

    I think I kinda understand what you are trying to point out. My answer would be if you got PR already, it is not necessary to inform them. Even the address you gave when you applied PR is different from when you are about to apply citizenship. You only need to inform the department in case you change address during the process of your citizenship application as the wait time for the whole process of citizenship is quite long from test appointment to ceremony. Some people do change their address and it's important to inform the change so your name for the ceremony will be on the appropriate council. My guess is maybe you are worried because you have certain conditions in your grant letter of PR visa to inform the department of change of circumstance inc address ( Rsms or state sponsorship) in that case, I would say no as well. I got Rsms visa and when I applied my citizenship, I just use my new address which is different from the one In my pr application and I didn't inform the department before or do anything. Now I got my citizenship approval already and waiting for the ceremony. So don't worry. It's not gonna harm you application if you don't do anything wrong or breaks the rules.
  4. I already called the citizenship info line. It seems that I have to stick to my own shire unless I change my address. The lady was very helpful And offer to check my schedule for the ceremony. She was surprised that I got my upcoming ceremony very quick. My application got approved 8 November 2013 and my ceremony is on 18 December 2013. Very fast I would say. Never thought it will be this quick. Now have to invite my family here. No time to change plan. So excited
  5. Hello all, I just got my citizenship application approved last week. I have a question regarding the venue for citizenship ceremony. Currently I live in regional nsw and wondering if it's possible to request to attend a citizenship ceremony at other state (Vic)? The reason being is my husband , family and friends all live in Victoria. It would be great if my beloved ones can cerebrate the moment with me. Don't want to cause troubles for them travelling to see me in nsw. Figure it would be a lot easier for me to travel to see them all. has anyone got similar experience about this? Or should I try to call citizenship hotline and see what are my options. Appreciate all comments.:rolleyes:
  6. It only valid for 3 months GeorgeD. I only requested for single entry at that time cus the paperwork is a lot less to apply.
  7. Oh I see Rupert. Thanks for enlighten me. You are right. I only got my tourist visa for three months but I only use it for few weeks. Then come back to hometown awhile and decided to apply for student visa. Thank you for your comment
  8. Thank you for all the reply. And sorry for not being clear. i have been in Australia on temporary visa between that. After 15 nov when my student visa finish, I applied for 485 visa and got bridging visa a. After that few months applied for Rsms and got it granted in may 2012. During that time, never been out to any countries. When I talked to operator last time, his answer wasn't very clear though I mentioned that before I enter in September 09 I did stay in Australia for about two weeks on the same year as tourist. And he said that's should be ok as long as its not more than 12 months but still told me before hang up that the earliest date for me would be September this year. So still confused until now. Any comment would be appreciated.
  9. Hello everyone, I have a question to ask about residency requirement to be eligible for citizenship. Here is my timeline 3-14 April 2009 - tourist visa 20 sep 2009- 15 nov 2009- student visa pr granted 15 May 2012 my question is when would I be eligible to apply for citizenship. Is it in April 2013 or September 2013. i used to think that I will be eligible on 20 sep 2013 but I read from some posts which states that yr tourist visa also counts towards citizenship too. So I'm a bit confused now Cus there is a big gap between April and September. I called Immi to check and the operator said I will be eligible in September this year but I'm not sure Cus he didn't ask for my old passport details which shown my travel entry in April 2009 too. Can anyone advice? If not clear I plan to contact Immi in person and show them my passports thx
  10. Hi all, I have some question to ask for those who already applied for their citizenship. I am about to apply one in the near future so I have a look in the website about the checklist. I have one question about the proof to show current residential address as part of the document to be submitted. As quote: [h=3]Evidence of your current residential address[/h]

[TH=width: 92%]Document[/TH] [TH=width: 8%]Checked[/TH]

A utilities notice such as electricity, gas or water bill, or

Rental contracts or rates notice.

At the moment, I dont have any documents mentioned above to show except my bank statement and driving license with the current residential address. Dont have electricity bill, gas, water or rental contract as I am not the one who sign those agreement or contract. (live with my close friends) I just wondering if bank statement is valid enough to be evidence of my current residential address or not. If not, what are the alternatives? Do I have to put my name as person who pay the bill? Any comment is appreciated. Cheers
  11. Hi all, I have a question to ask regarding the RSMS visa which had been granted to me few months ago. I already started working with my sponsor. However, one of my colleague resigned because she had an issue about Superannuation with the boss. So she reported this to Fairwork to investigate the matter. I wonder if this impact my sponsorship or PR visa or not if the outcome shows that my boss is guilty. Any comments or feedback are welcomes. Thx
  12. That's great Sandie. Hope you hear the good news soon. It took only few days after I submitted the additional documents. My agent sent it on Wednesday afternoon and I got it granted Friday afternoon. Good luck

Once your application is allocated to a case officer for assessment, you will be contacted by your case officer if further information or documentation is required in order to make a decision on your application. This will generally occur within one working week of your application being allocated to a case officer. Please be aware that the Department may make a decision on your application without requesting additional information. If you do not think your application has been allocated to a case officer and more than a week has elapsed beyond the relevant date of allocation above, please make this clear in your email. We will get back to you in such a situation.
