1. Hello all, I am a qualified teacher emigrating to Australia in January 2013. Currently, I am not sure where I am going to live; it's between Perth, Adelaide or Melbourne. My question is, can I register with all 3 states to get my qualifications assessed, is there any harm in doing this before I arrive? I just wanted to do this before I arrived to give me a bit of a head start, or do you think you can only register with one state at a time? Or even better can you do a national registration...at the moment I can only find the process to do this for individual states. Any help is much appreciated.
 2. Hi, Just wondered what anybody knows about KL airport and city with regards to shopping. When we stop in KL in January (for 3 days) we wanted to know what sort of prices things like perfume, make up (clinique) and sunglasses (ray bans) are. Are they any cheaper (than the UK) either in duty free or in the shops in the city? Want to try and stock up before getting to Oz. Thanks!
 3. Hi there, I am currently looking at shipping companies and can't decide between two different ones: Seven Seas shipping or Excess Baggage company. We are only shipping boxes so these ones offer the services that we need. Any experiences with these companies? Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks :-)
 4. Hello, does anybody know if you can ship over spices and dry herbs? We have a large stock of spices and wondered if u could seal them and shop them?! Not the end of the world if we can't but it would be on less thing to but when we get there! Thanks :-)
 5. Hi ya, just wondered what sort of wage you can earn as a fire alarm technician...if you don't mind sharing?!? Is it enough to live on until you get your license? Thanks Steve

Hello everyone,

Now I have to say this forum is quite addictive and generally good for getting questions answered but recently all I have been reading are bad comments/posts about Australia. My partner and I are emigrating in January and I am starting to get worried!

It would be lovely to read about all the good things people like about Oz and to read positive reviews; ones that highlight people's love of Australia and their new life!

Of course, I know that is a long process and lots of people have their ups and downs when emigrating...but I need some reassurance that it is all worth it and life in Australia is what we are hoping it will be!

Please :-)

 7. Hi, Apologies for repeating anything that has already been said or asked I just want to get it all straight in my head.... First of all, I have come across 2 forms: the ARTC application form and the TRA migration skills assessment. Is the ARTC application form the main one you do to gain the first part of your license? Is this the correct order of things... I arrive with my 175 skilled visa having also completed my VETASSESS in the UK last year. I then apply to the TRA and fill out the ARTC application form with as much information about my experience as possible and hopefully get that granted. I then go to a Tafe college to do the 5 day course (with lots of revision beforehand!) and hopefully pass that. I then apply to Energy safe for my full license. Is it also correct that you only have to complete the log book experience thing if you do not have a VETASSESS...? Would really appreciate some help as it is such a mind field of information and whenever I think I have it sorted in my head something else pops up!
 8. Apologies if these questions have already been asked and answered but wanted some up to date information. Myself and my partner have our 175 visa and are planning to come to Perth around November 2012. I am fully qualified electrician with over 12 years experience and have completed all the Vetassess etc etc hence we have our visa but wondered what the next best step is?! I just wanted to know if I can do any of my class A license in the UK and is it advisable and or beneficial or is it just better to do it once I get to Australia. I have heard it is difficult to find work without it but then have also been told it could take a few months to complete so wondered if I could get a step ahead and get the ball rolling by doing it in the UK before I go to Oz. Could I at least study for it here and then take the test as soon as I am there? Also, does each state have their own test as I have read some states want you to do their specific test/qualification. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Steve
