Did you accept your SS and how long does it last for? I know how you feel IELTS is so bloody frustrating!!!

Hi yes we did, 190 has 55 points and 489 has 60 points and this is with Victoria as selected state..... Thanks

Yes we did ask if we could go for that visa but this was the reply we got:--- In order to be eligible for Victorian Government nomination for the Skilled Regional (489) visa, you must provide an offer of employment with a regional Victorian employer and a confirmation of employment form to support your nomination application for this visa. This is a mandatory requirement for this visa category application. Should you wish to pursue this option, you will also need to withdraw the current Skilled Nominated (190) visa Victorian nomination application and lodge a new application for nomination for the 489 regional visa. It just seemed a bit silly to retract a permanent offer to go for a temp.....My hubby has done the IELTS 3 times now and got overall 8 everytime, he is 0.5 or 1.0 of a point off getting 8's in all sections, so frustrating even though he has practiced and practiced before his test....I think he is going to do it again to try and get the points that way... i know you can gain 5 points for getting partner skills assessed, I am a childcare co-ordinator/room lead with a level 5 (foundation Degree children and young persons) qualification, i have 3 years experience in this present job with overall 6 years in childcare (3 as a childminder), can i get mine assessed to gain points this way?? if so do you know who with & do i have to do the IELTS or will my passport do as equivalent? (think i read this somewhere ???) How long do we have to accept our Victoria 190 SS???? i read 4 month is this true? My head is ready to burst, we have done so well in getting everything passed and assessed supper quick with no problems at all but because my hubby is 41, reaching the 60 min pass mark is becoming a struggle..... Hi we got an email this morning to say we were successful in our application for a 190 SS for Victoria......But our dilema is that my hubby only has 55 points on his EOI, he has done the IELTS 3 times now and even tho he is revising for the tests his marks are getting worse (8's would give him and extra 10 points), he feels really frustrated by the IELTS system and can't bring himself to do it again....My question is will we still be able to apply for the 190 visa on 55 points as we have SS or will it be refused??????? Please can anyone advise us! Tracey

Hi my hubby has had his plumbing qualifications assessed and passed by Vetassess can anyone give us some info on what happens when he gets to melbourne, Vic, we are aware that it is just a temp licence but how does he go about getting a permanent one and is there a cost involved.... Will employers take him on b4 he gets his licence or while he applies for it? Just you hear so many thing that people have done all this and cant get a job in their trade because you don't have the licence or the austrailian work experience????? Thanks for the info guy's, There is just some much info to find out on what you can and can't do and with everthing having a price tag on it to get over there i don't want to be waisting money on getting my qualifications recognised if it is not going to help us or be refused.... If i am able to get a job similar to what i am doing now (early years) with what i have then i will be happy, i supose i can only try once out there... O well Just means my hubby will have to do the dredded IELTS again... Ta Muchly Tracey xx

Hi can anyone shed some light on this for me? We have just had an email for Vic SS asking us to confirm our total assets, we have already gave them a figure of 45000aud, we are going for a 190 visa on my hubbys trade as a plumber and i am qualified worker in early years so hope to find work too. they have asked us to look at the cost of living in victoria and the required money you need to support yourself and your family we are a little below this requirement, Do you think this will reflect in the decision they make? I was wanting to get my skills assessed to gain the extra 5 points to go along side my hubby for partner points! So if this is the case for me, how do i get round this when i get over there, as i would like to work in the same job i do now? Does this mean my qualification is not worthy over in Oz? No i'm not a teacher as such we are called Early years practitioner, but both job discripions cover what i do in my job role,,,if you get what i mean

Hi i work in a playgroup(early years) with a foundation Degree in Children and young persons (level5), i have worked there for 2 years and with 4 years previouse experience as a child minder working for myself, i have looked on the list to see if my job is on the same list as my OH and there are 2 Early Childhood (Pre-Primary School) Teacher - 241111 and Child Care Centre Manager - 134111 can anyone advise me on the one i should be getting my qualifications recognised with as we want to boost our points with partner qualifications. i have read both requirements for each job and i cover both of them so i am now confused on where to go next Any help would be gr8!!!!! traceyandedd

I think when i done the EOI it takes this into account as it gives you a points mark b4 u sumbit, he has 60 for a 489 visa but we have applied 4 190 not realising our mistake...never mind we can just hope it works out...

He's done the IELTS twice allready, and only been 0.5 on the first 1.5 on the 2nd, points in it to score 8's, i'm booking him on another one for the 22nd sept, my job is on the same list so thinking of getting my qualifications recognised....we applied direct to Victoria for SS yesterday on 190, so need to get the points boosted quick incase we get accepted as you can only apply for SS once in a 6month period......Bloody rules! Gutted...ticked yes in our EOI on a question about Australian qualification and it should have been NO and it has dropped us down 5 points to 55points....GUTTED is not the word!!!!!!

Hi can anyone tell me does my hubby have to have his points verified by TRA? We have just submitted his EOI, & applied to Victoria for SS and none of these have asked questions about points being verified..... If we get selected to apply for our 190 visa does it ask for verification of his points in the Visa aplication?????? I would hate to get that far and not have it done:(! Any help would be good traceyandedd...xx

My OH has just submitted his EOI, for a 489 visa where he earned 65 points, but he could have also gone for a 190 permenent visa on 60 points, has he done the right thing going for that visa with the higher points in thinking the more points you have the better the chance of an invite or does it not matter..... we would have prefered the 190, but reading the forum it looks like the 489 is going thro quicker and we want to be out there ASAP! Any advice is appreciated Traceyandedd...Xx

My Hubby is a plumber too, he needs 8's in his IELTS to get the 20 points, he gets his results for the second time tomorrow if he doesn't get the 8's i think we are going to go for the 489 as we want to be out there ASAP.... Totaly agree with you on IELTS being a rip off----they clearly know people are needing the band score overall and dropping them 0.5 of a point is just wrong i think the know what they are doing....... We would have prefered the 190 visa but can apply for that after 2 years like yourself......... good luck on your new adventure.... Tracey

Hi Guys, can anyone tell me do i need to get my qualifications recognised to gain the extra 5 points to support my hubby? Our jobs are on the same list. He has passed all of his assessments it just this blood IELTS thats becoming a pain!!!! and thought if i got the extra 5 point he wouldn't need to score as high in this English test! My job comes under Child Care Manager/coordinator, just i am a little confused after reading some posts on here some say you just need the suporting evidence when you apply for the visa (190) and others say yes you need them assessed by TRA????? Really appreciate any sound advice Thanks Tracey

Hi, This IELTS is sooooo frustrating........ My OH who is also a plumber has just sat it for the second time, we find out on friday 7th Sep if has got the 8's that we need, we to are desperate to get out to Melbourne, he was 1.5 of having all 8's last time, we said 3 attempts was our limit then look at getting my qualifications recognised for the extra points......(then we can go with the 7's)..I hope you get the pass you need.....Good Luck

My Hubby had a few of these certificates for his plumbing, we just put down the training provider and address that was on the certificate when we sent them off to Vetassess (and passed) and we will just do the same again for his EOI, hope this helps.

Hi Guys, can any1 help? we are busy filling in my Hubbys EOI, we are the Education History part, does my hubby have to put all of his qualifications in or just the ones that have been passed by Vetassess????? Thanks

HI, I'm doing my pracrical test at the north west college of London on Saturday 14th July, can anyone give me a bit of advice on the test its self? Is it best to take my own tools or use the college tools? and how long does it take? what sort of things do they cover etc Many thanks
