  1. one other thing is it not illegal for a company to expect us to pay anything towards cost of visa?
  2. of course we will but I wanted other to share their experiences please thanks
  3. Hi Some of you may remember I was on here a few weeks back saying we were playing the limbo game waith to hear if the job for hubby was going ahead. This am we got an email saying all is still good and they are putting things in place at their end. But being a worrier I have a concern. In one of the many emails back and forth they said they were going to bear the cost of the visa. In this latest email they have asked for information from us "so they can start their part of the process" then they have given us a link to the DIAC website saying this is what we might expect from our prespective and what costs are involved. Does that sound like they are expecting us to pay for our part of the Visa and is this normal? And can anyone give me an idea of how much we would have to pay if this is the case?
  4. umm will certainly see what he says when he gets home, we can't use that excuse as we have emailed back and forth so "not having right email would look strange to say" my hubby is not the most confident on the phone so I don't think he will be keen especially as he is having to chase up. I think we really need to face facts if they wanted to employ him they would of been in touch before now. They said it would be following weekend, she has apologised so many time for the delay and said it has been one reason or another. then as I say its just gone silent all together.
  5. why did your hubby say I am not doing it now when they said the contract was on the way? yes I did think about calling but the thing is we have sent a couple of emails now so would calling not look strange. Why don't they just say when it is not going to happen then? specially as they have put so much work into contacting him!
  6. Yes we tried another email last night, or via another source (linked in) which is the source they contacted my husband by they had originally been trying for weeks to contact him and kept trying why this is all so strange!
  7. yeah I thought of that one too, but his job is so specialisted we would of seen it advertised. we have looked everywhere and there is nothing and no agencies have the role either. I think they maybe looking for more than one person. One thing I did think Is I know they have to advertise the role locally to prove they could not get anyone and that is what they are doing, but can't say why they would not just say! but in answer to your point takes two mins to say go away maybe they can't even be bothered to do that! but that for taking the time to post
  8. Hi Blosson 79, don't think it is the visa thing as proffession is on the list although I will check again, as that was last year and I know they change it all the time. this company has sponsored others from other countries successfully for similar roles, we haven't even started the visa process yet. If that was the case surely they would just say. the lack of contact is strange! after regular contact especially as we have asked them to let us know what is happening, and they ignored the emails. Could try again with other employers but don't think I could face all this emoitional roller coaster again, but it depends how much I want to go doesn't it. there is an age restriction with student visa isn't there, we did have that idea last year? Think we are too old now. my husband is computer specialist. Maybe we pick ourselves up and start applying for jobs again! and say third time lucky. Just so frustrating as they came to us about the job!
  9. i will try and be patient but the no contact makes me think they are no longer interested just don't know why they can't say!
  10. ps I know they are laid thats what I love just not with this, I want to be laid back too!
  11. Thanks so much for you reply and support, I wish I could feel the same that they are just ironing out all the bits. I can't believe how emotional I am about this I said time I would not get caught up in it until we had everything sorted but have done, guess that is human nature. Surely if they wanted my husband their would be an email saying please bear with us we are trying to sort things out, the silent is our answer to what is happening! I Keep hoping there is still some hope, but the more days that pass the more I think not.
  12. Look for a bit of tlc. For a second time my husband was offered a job in sydney and it has fallen through how can we be so unlucky. I feel completely devestated for second time! Found it hard enough to full myself together a year ago but now life in the UK is so much worse for us and it seems like it is going to be so much harder Just can't understand it..... this company head hunted my husband, offered him the role. Directors in sydney said we need you to speak to HR in NZ and she said this is the offer, I need to get the directors to put it in writing and we will come back to the following weekend. Then nothing it has been two weeks and we have sent a couple of email asking what the situation is but they have just ignored them. Its all so strange, obviously my husband has not got the job, but can't imagine why as they will not make contact. They were always slow and getting information to us, but they never ignored emails before. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? I guess I just have to face for second time the dream has been taken from us again. So so Sad words cannot explain! Thanks for reading this
  13. Fantastic news :smile:when do you expect to leave UK for OZ?
  14. Fantastic that was not even 4 weeks. How is it going where are you? Do you mind me asking how you were ready to move so quickly. We would have to wait until visa granted before arranging move just in case our visa was turned down!
