  1. Hi all, we've used ******** to ship our belongings from the UK to Perth. They were collected 14 weeks ago and we've been advised last week that they've not even left the UK yet, with no information when they might do so. When we got the initial quote they told us 6-12 weeks so we banked on it being the 12 weeks, but to hear it might be another few months is concerning. We are sharing a container so apparently need to wait until it is full. Is this just something we have to live with & part of emigrating? If anyone has any advice or experience it would be useful to hear. Thanks, Dean
  2. Many thanks for your reply Ashley83. I also like the answer! ;-). The generic 8-12months we originally got was a little worrying as we'd like to go this year. Fingers crossed we get the same processing time.
  3. Hi All, We've just had a baby in the UK and have submitted a 101 visa application for him. My wife and I already have activated 189 visas. The 101 visas go through the London High Commission. We've been allocated a case officer and have had the medical and parent police checks done and submitted. The generic email we had when we submitted it said the processing time is "at least 8-12 months." I'm wondering does anyone have an updated processing time for these visas once you've been allocated a CO and provided all additional info. Many thanks Dean
  4. CaptainC many thanks for your replies. I must have been looking at the wrong category when I thought the processing time was 12 months. So to hear it is 3 months is very pleasing. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Also, we did consider having the baby in Australia but timing-wise it won't work out for us. Thanks again!
  5. My wife and I have 189 permanent resident visas. These were granted and activated last year. Our plan was to move to Oz in 2016. My wife is now pregnant and our baby is due in April 2016. Question 1: Do we need to apply for a separate child 101 visa once the baby is born? Question 2: If yes, do people have an updated view on the processing times of 101 visas? The government website says processing is approximately 12months. We have a family wedding in Australia in November 2016 so we would like to fly to Australia in time for the wedding and stay there. However, we're worried the child visa may not come through in time. Question 3: Would this mean we'll have to fly back to the UK and wait until it comes through? Many thanks for your help.
  6. Hi all, I am looking to move to WA within the next 18 months and would like to know if anyone on here has purchased a house before they moved over? My family live in Perth and could manage the house as a buy to let. They are renting right now whilst their new houses are being built and found good rentals are snapped up straight away. I have a visa already and only holding back on the move due to a recent promotion which will benefit my move in the near future. Thanks in advance Dean

  8. Thanks Robert, all Comms has also been listed within my EOI apart from this and my EOI has no mention of an invitation which why I thought it was strange.
  9. I have received the below email today. My EOI has not been updated / any communications. The link to start the application does not work and this is the first I have heard about an invitation to apply. Is this a scam email? Anyone else had one of these? I thought my EOI would have an update when I log in. You recently received an invitation to apply for State nomination from Western Australia. You now have seven days to complete this application or your invitation will lapse. You can start your application here. If you have already started your application, you should have received an email with a link to your existing application. If you have not received this link, please contact Skilled Migration Western Australia on +61 8 9224 6593 or by email at migration@dtwd.wa.gov.au Regards, Skilled Migration Western Australia Department of Training and workforce development
  10. yes, mostly good but the speaking didn't go as well as hoped. The topics were plants, letters plus 1 other and she has no interest in plants but we will see soon enough.
  11. thanks is for all the advice, it's really kind. yes my wife will be the main applicant as my role is on the schedule 2 for WA. I've had a positive skills assessment but feel she is best to carry us forward. here are the roles my wife falls under Accountant (General) Taxation Accountant

  13. Thanks, my wife's test is today so wanted to be sure we have done the right thing. This is what I read today. How can I prove I have competent English? To prove that you have competent English you must provide evidence of one of the following: you have achieved a score of at least 6 for each of the four test components (speaking, reading, listening and writing) of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application you have achieved a score of 'B' for each of the four test components of an Occupational English Test (OET) that has been undertaken in the three years immediately prior to lodging the visa application you hold a valid passport from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand or the Republic of Ireland and you are a citizen of that country.
  14. Hi, if you hold a UK passport do you need to take the test? I know people that have taken the test but I am reading UK passport holders don't have to. thanks d
  15. the WA list was updated a couple of weeks ago so is very current
  16. Just to add, I was surprised to see my job on the list. my skills are being assessed at the moment, then EOI so a long way to go. i have a degree and over ten years experience working in events so hopefully will be straight forward.
  17. thanks is for all the replies. I thought the whole idea of the skills list was lack of skilled people, jobs to place people. Why would they need the skilled people if the jobs / work is not available? I am a conference and event manager so any tips would be great.
  18. Hi, what have people done in terms of researching job opportunities? my role is on the wanted list but there are not many roles advertised on seek + + Have you applied for roles in advance of having visa approved? Have you asked recruitment agencies for feedback on CV? i think it is hard to get some reassurance that you will get work if opportunities are available when you make the move. d
  19. Thank you. I ticked the box for the letter as a back up.
  20. Hi, Just about to submit my skill assessment info on-line and wanted to know if the letter is required and what is it for? I have searched for more info on this but nothing is clear. Quick background on me: Degree Education Job Experience across 4 related positions over 10 years. Thanks
  21. Thanks, as I know the list is changing next week I will wait. I have all the evidence for the skills assessment but if I pay and my job is removed then it's a waste.
  22. Here is a copy of the role 149311 Conference and event organiser VETASSESS Available Is there anyway to find out if the role will be on the next list? Should I get my skills assessed now or wait for the new list so I don't waste ££ thanks dean
  23. Thanks for such a quick reply. I am a conference and events manager with over ten years experience plus a degree.
  24. Hi, My job is on the occupation list for WA and I am about to submit my skills assessment form but I understand the list is about to be updated / changed. My question is: if I submit my form and my job is taken off the list before it is approved what happens? Is it tough luck or as the process has started will I be ok? Does anyone know when the new list is coming out? thanks dean
