  1. i originally applied for ahpra in september... had to send several things again as they werent detailed enough from university but i still think there lack of progress is unexplainable, i appreciate thousands of people are waiting but a straightforward case should not take this long.
  2. found out today that the dream nursing job in perth i had been offered is no longer open as my registration has not came through yet! absolutley gutted and do not understand why AHPRA took so long despite understanding i had the job offer... owell back to the drawing board! does anybody know the situation about maintaing australian nursing registration while working and living in Scotland... thinking of getting a years experience here before reapplying now and surlely will have AHPRA reg by then, will this effect it at all? thanks , gutted!! kirsty x
  3. hey there, you sound like youve had a similar experience to me, i got an email this morning from ahpra saying i had not put the date on the application form so to resend the whole thing!! argh!!! and im absolutly positive i did acctually put the date and my mum checked it at least twice for me.. nightmare. anyway welll done for finally getting it through , i cant wait. best of luck kirsty
  4. just sen this post , yep im going alone, err iv found it long and annoying to be very honest lol, but these forums are really good with advice , its AHPRA thats a bit difficult as some of tthe things they require found hard to get e.g. a university transcript as my uni didnt have one available. im from sw scotland u? if you have facebook pm me ur page link and ill add you xx
  5. hey , ah cool did you, i forget to chek them lol. im going alone which is a bit scary, i applied for a job via the WA governemtn website then had my interview via phone then was offered a 457 sponsorship as a theatre nurse . do you know which state you want? kirsty xx
  6. hey im kirsty im 21 and im also a nurse, heading over to perth to start my friest job this summer x
  7. i have removed my post seen as it was so "unhelpful" . and will be revising my statement the next time i need to apply for a job, maybe then i will have post registration experience and have a different persepective on what to write. thanks for feedback.
  8. I wasnt trying to be defensive, constructive criticism is good . I was merely saying I felt my statement was aimed towards the job i applied for and it was a copy and paste error.
  9. hey jondoe and ratchet . well it was acctually set out diffent on my word document it just altered itself when i copied and pasted (all the words seemed to be joined together now with no spaces), and i did say it wasnt perfect i was trying to be helpful to the people who said they didnt know where to start and to read and criticise someone elses statement is good inspiration for their own. It was acctually tailored to the job i applied for as a scrub nurse in my opinion.

  12. hey carly , it scares me to hear that people are struggling to make friends as i would hate to be alone especially in a strange country so i would definately be up for meeting up , going out etc if you want to add me on facebook my page is http://www.facebook.com/#!/profile.php?id=1313882504 kirsty
  13. hey , well as for a CV i went to my uni and got help for our careers advisior, so definately worth finding out if theres anyone who will help you, also if you like i could send you parts of mine like the core strengths i specified to get the employers attention and then my personal statement. im not saying its perfect but i was quite pleased with it after i managed to secure the first job i applied to . I am unsure about companies who sponsor and that side of things as i applied directly to the hospital and have dealt with the theatre manager privately and no company. kirsty
  14. no bother , if you want any more advice then ill try help, im still waiting on AHPRA so it myt be a while till i get there
  15. hey , erm because i wanted to go to perth i went on the westen austraila governemt website http://search.jobs.wa.gov.au/page.php?pageID=215 and just searched for nursing jobs, i think if you want to go through an agency it is different and they help you find a job. it feels like ages ago since i applied but just make sure you have a good strong CV tailored to your specific field e.g. theatre and a good personal statement to support your application. good luck kirsty
  16. hey there. im a newly qualified nurse i qualified in september 2011 also in scotland. first of all i started applying for jobs in august time before i new if i had passed , not really expecting to get a job straight away however after a phone interview i was offered a job in perth working in theatres, although most posts advertise for experience i was able to bum myself up in a way and say that i spent 2 placements totalling 3 months in theatre and new this was the job i wanted to do, knew the basics etc.. and they said yes. i then filled in the forms for the job and the hospital which i was able to do before recieving my degree certificate that you get a wee while after qualifing. The hospital then told me to apply for my AHPRA registration when my NMC registration came through.. i advise that when you do that bit you go on these forums and absolutly give them everything as i have had to send stuff back twice already as it was not "detailed enough" , i am still waiting for my ahpra registration although i applied in september time, they can speed up your process however if you send them your job offer (which i only found out about 4 weeks ago). then i believe when i get my registration i can be nominated by the hospital for a 457 sponsorship visa, meaning you have to work for that hospital and do 40 hours work a week , im not sure about the other kinda visas but this suits me as im interested in building experience in skills for a couple of years. then i think the visa process takes about 2 weeks as you have to get a chest xray and bloods for nurses and then its booking flights time !! bit of a long winded story... but thats my view of how it works good luck. kirsty
