  1. Loved his stuff, I couldn't believe it when I heard the news this morning.

so young, will be missed, he gave many of us a bloody good laugh, I loved him best in The New Statesman, And Bottom, I will never forget some of the belly laughs I have had watching him and Aide Edmondson ...... Will seriously miss him ......

Rest in Peace you wonderfully funny guy xx

  2. If you worry about pay wave, then worry about people who walk around with machines that can read our cards without us knowing, I could count on one hand how many times anyone ever challenged my signature in fact most assistants just gave it such a cursory glance they could not possibly have checked it. Pins well people write them down as we have so many these days. Unless people have the same one for the whole lot and that gives all the cards to a thief if wallet is stolen.

I continue to use pay wave, internet banking etc as its very convenient. I just have to be vigilant in checking my accounts and know where my wallet is at all times.

People who steal are becoming more and more sophisticated and will continue to find ways to take our money.

I do not use ATM's unless I really have to, get my cash from the shop or supermarket.

Paywave ve and people walking around with machines is exactly the same thing, because that's how they get the details,

  3. It's not called paywave over there, it's something else but you basically wave your card around and the money is taken by magic. However, only for purchases up to £10 I think. I know that the fast food chains offer this waving thing but only for small items such as one meal, coffees, etc.

My son lives in the UK still and he said he has a thing on his phone, an App or a Chip, not too sure, but he said it acts just like a credit/debit card, now for me that's scary ...... I think I will stick to my cards ....... not too sure though, if what you've said applies, I.e., small purchases, (on his phone thing) I must remember to ask him when we next speak .....

  4. It's pretty worrying, I just read up about my card because it concerned me and seems the bank will refund fraudulent transactions: http://www.nab.com.au/personal/credit-cards/nab-visa-paywave/security

In the uk I had to make a few claims on credit cards, twice for fraud and once for a company who went bankrupt before delivery. No problems getting those sorted, the banks seem to accept it as normal.

That being said I use a top up cash card for internet transactions and iTunes cards for the apple store to limit the damage (the latter more to prevent the kids accidentally running up big in app purchase bills)

Those top up credit cards are fine ..... we used them when we were on holidays, we have a Qantas card which accumulates points ..... and I know I should take the time to transfer funds to that account and use for online purchases, its much safer, the only thing with the card we have is it takes a few days for it to arrive, if it was quicker it would be my preferred method of purchases.

I am wanting to purchase some wall art online, but am scared after what happened with the card, I have got my replacement card, but haven't used it yet, I ordered some stock in the week and paid via bank transfers, it takes a bit longer, but it felt more secure.

The iTunes card is a brilliant idea with children especially, its amazing how easy it is to spend money on iTunes, not that we do it, we buy TV shows at $3.49 a pop and they do mount up pretty quickly if your not careful, but we are .....

  5. There's not necessarily a connection. Credit card fraudsters will often hold card details for long periods before trying to use them for the first time - it makes it harder to trace.[/QUOT

The card was virtually brand new, and my beloved keeps it in her purse when I am about, LOL.

He's spot on, it was only a couple of months old and had hardly been used ....... Last week when I was banging on about the incident, he kept on saying " I am the victim here, not you ", LOL, guess he was as he ended up paying for my stock :angel_happy_face_ha, my curtains, and the food shopping ....... oh and my signage and printing .....

  6. I dont like paywave either...luckily with our ANZ card (might be the same for all) anything over $100 paywave doesnt work without a pin number too.

Yeah I think Mastercard is $80 and Visa is $100 ....... My new card came today, must get one of those wallets from Strand Bags that stop the waving thing from working when you don't want it too ......

  7. My bank told me you couldn't have pay wave removed, although that was when it was first introduced. Maybe they have seen sense?

    Hi hun,

i was told the same, but apparently if you go into your branch they can order a card without it ..... I am going on Monday to request one without it, this is not funny ....

  8. Sorry to hear about your loss :( Thieves are upping their game! If you don't mind, can you please tell me which city was this in? There have been quite a few incidents of CC thefts in Sydney alone.

Brisbane yesterday, card used today, fortunately I am on bank account watch, was able to find out from my bank who the payments were made to, rang them when they opened, explained the situation and stopped the goods from being sent out ..... awaiting refunds now ..... One even said it looked odd to them  and rang alarm bells, but I wonder if they'd have still sent the goods out .....

  9. ETA I intend to make a formal complaint to the fuzz, who have said over the phone that no crime has been committed :arghh:Ah but it has $600 has been robbed off me, if they don't sort it my MP can .... I am really annoyed as we work hard and honestly for our money yet some little gob /:;() thinks it's cool to treat me as their Fairy Godmother, well I will show them, let them see what I think of it when the fuzz rock up to their door, ....... and put the handcuffs on ..... I bet I'm not the only one they robbed yesterday .....

  10. It's me he's talking about, got a recurring payment on my credit card, which I have had declined tonight, I feel sick, as I look bad, but the good news is is that the little s)$& who ordered the goods on my card ain't bloody well getting them .... It sucks that I have basically had to close off my account, because I am waiting for refunds from the UK, and was dreading Mr Perp from ......... To go shopping again ...... :arghh:

  11. One of the first things I did was apply for my ABN no and register the business name

i haven't opened my business for customers yet, still fitting out ....

Decide which type of business you are going to open and check out the relevant laws, qualifications, licences and pieces of paper.

you can apply for an ABN on line the same to register a business.

    good luck

  12. I had a similar experience LS. Very disappointed when we had not only maintained but improved the property

Its so upsetting, you've just reminded me about the lawn, how good it looked when we left, compared to the brown thatch we first saw, the 3 blinds in the media room, as the sun was very bright in there & would have faded our furniture, plus numerous other matching wooden slat blinds, the extra intranet socket for smart tv, and two extra power dockets for media .... All had owners permission, and tbh we were happy to leave as the owner was/is a star .....

  13. The "use our cleaners who charge double and give us a nice fat backhander for the business" scam is all too common. Almost the norm I think

Currently looking to buy.....the sooner I'm out of being judged and patronised by dickhead agents the better

yes the " one of our recommended " is rotten, it is on our contract, I think, defo read it somewhere in their bumf even going so far as to say .... You could end up having to get it done again ..... It stinks ....

in one email the agent asked my oh who had we used to clean and how much had we paid, we totally ignored this comment as it was irrelevant and none of their business, I left the house loads cleaner than when I moved in, and anyone who knows me, knows that, I rang the cleaner who helped me and she was really upset, we left it in perfect condition, the agent even said the tiles were full of water marks, I have no idea where this came from, all I could think was that the carpet cleaner sprayed round with flea treatment, just after I had steamed the floors, I told the agent this and they said " oh don't worry " ......

Its sad sad how tenants can sometimes be treated agents.:swoon: Don't they see the bigger picture, many who come over on temporary visas go onto buy, we hope to at some stage, but we will be using a different agent, actually, buying land then building

  14. This could come back and nip you on the bum ...

To cut a long story short, we have just moved out of one rental into another ( same agent ) we had always got on extremely well with the agents, they have always been extremely professional, until now .... Last week our previous land lord ( whom we are friends with ( now ) ) had to intervene and tell the agents they were out of order .... In a nutshell when we moved into the house, it wasn't particularly very clean, on top of unpacking boxes, and making beds I had to clean filthy sinks, plug holes covered in black slime and hairs, there was also a toothbrush, bar of soap with pubic hairs stuck to it ( yuk ) a glass marble and a razor left in the shower area, the windows were rotten, the insect screens were dusty as hell, the oven was encrusted with food, the oven door was stained very badly, the tracks the patio doors were full if dirt, the carpets had glitter trapped in it, there were paint / crayon writing in the garage doors, two wardrobe doors, and two windows, the list is pretty long ......

Anyway we were new to Australia and kind of hyped up, so didn't really think it was vital to take photos, but this time I've taken nearly 100 as an insurance for future if and when the time comes. We were given three days to complete the entry report, which is the normal, I think, three days isn't much when we think how much we've got to do, plus, it's not always possible to notice faults in three days, we have been in the new place now for two weeks and I am still finding things .....

Anyway during our tenancy we had three property managers, staff changes were the cause of this, sadly though the agent who carried out the exit report had never seen the s)$& that I had to clean up, and tried to pin some of the encrusted dirt on the patio door tracks on me, even going so far as to write to our landlord and say that there was " built in dirt and grime " I saw red and told them that I was sorry that my two years of rubbing and scrubbing wasn't quite long enough to remove the crap caused by the previous tenants ..... I am shocked and very upset at how we were treated, we've been excellent tenants as our previous landlord attested .... even telling the agent to release the bond, and telling them that the property wasn't very clean when we moved in, as well as saying we had been " the best tenants ever, who never grumbled about anything, or gave him any grief " the agent was still like a dog with a bone, even telling me after the landlord had told her to write to us informing us that we had nothing to worry about, they still told me they had no news, that they were still carrying out their investigations ..... Strangely enough the same agent visited us just before we moved and commended me on how beautifully clean and well kept the house was .... It's as if they've had a personality transplant .....

Our bond is coming back in full .... But we are still having problems we are owed 3 days rent, over paid, and they are trying to withhold it, another long story, my OH has written to the principle at the agency whom hopefully will resolve this issue, we don't want to go to the RTA but if need be we will....

Please people, take the entrance report ( incidentally we haven't been supplied with one, and I have read somewhere that the tenant should a) get a copy or b) carry out the report ..... Very seriously, take lots of photos and be strict, very strict with these agents, they like us to use bond cleaners, and is think this is why we have had such a terrible time, because I flatly refused to use one, after seeing how well they cleaned the property before we moved in ....

I think it's always a bit too easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new home in the country we are starting a new life, rose tinted specs et et ..... I was too trusting and wasn't aware of how snippy these agents can be, I am now, and I hope this post gives new arrivals some valuable advice .....

  15.

My God how gross .... Puts me off going in the night .... From now on the light is going on ..... I always keep the seat down, but one of those could push it up easily, might start leaving something on the seat, then if I hear a crash I will run

And as as for the snake in the second hand suite, I had thought this could happen, suppose even with new too ....
