  1. Hi

Just interested in your thoughts really. We sold our house 'subject to contract' being the buyer needed to sell his house and he had until July to do this. A deposit of $100k was put down and a 'sold subject to contract' was put on the board. He has decided to pull out of the sale and has had his full deposit given back! He has taken his house off the market as he has changed his mind. We have however, offered to buy his house for the asking price but he has declined.

We have been left out of pocket and we have not marketed the house for 4 months as he was buying it.  How can this be that he has got his full deposit back with no comeback on his part? No one seems to be bothered! How can this be legal?  Our solicitor is bloody useless.

  2. Hi there

we accepted an offer on our house with a “ subject to sell” from the potential buyers with a $50k deposit. . Our buyers have now pulled out of the sale as they cannot sell their house. However, we have offered to buy their house so sale can go through. They have declined to accept the asking price for their house.

Were in limbo now. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

  3. Hi

i was wondering if anyone has done this ? I want to go to the uk for 3-6 months every year and want to take my dogs. I've just brought a house so I can spend half the year in melbourne the other half in the uk.  I cannot be without my dogs.  I know it will be expensive but that's how it goes.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi

We have just lost our beloved 17 year old cocker spaniel.  I have  a 3 year old blue roan also.  I would like another dog not too fussy about the breed.  I will be going to the dog homes this weekend but just thought I'd put a note on here first.  Happy to look after a dog if owners are going overseas.  Anyway .... let me know if anyone us interested.  I live in Lilydale Melbourne east.  Thanks

  5. Hi what airline is it and what's the cost of a name change with them?

    qantas

obviously if I can't change the name then I won't sell it! I was told $50 for each way ... I will need to check this. If I can't change the name then I'm not the slightest bit bothered . No one has died ..... ! Worst thing would be that I've lost money for the flight. My fault for not checking my mum had insurance.

  6. Hello, I previously posted up a similar thread but would really love to hear some opinions on this...

I am hoping to apply for a skilled permanent visa for myself and family and I am the main applicant (mental health nurse). Only possible issue we have is that I have a cochlear implant, which I had done 2 years ago. After taking advice from folk on the previous thread I put up and trawling through migration agents that specialise in complex health cases I am now wondering whether there is really any point in using a migration agent at all when they have no influence on the actual decision by the medical officer to grant a visa...

We meet the points test and are quite happy to go through the process of applying on our own, and realise that we will not be able to get a definite answer until the visas are applied and paid for, and so are willing to take that gamble with our cash if there's a chance it will get us into oz (total scam though!).But, with fees of almost £200 for a 'pre-medical assessment' in addition to standard processing fees, and no real answers, is there really any point of using an agent?!!

    Cheers!

Do it yourself. Of course the agents will tell you that it's better to use them! I found it pretty straight forward to be honest. Good luck

  7. In what way will charging a co payment to those who can't or don't want to pay it reduce attendance at an ED?

You having a dog is your choice - him or her being healthy has no advantage to society. Having a healthy workforce does.

Perhaps instead of coming to ED with a rash that you have had for 3 weeks, an ingrown toenail, a mild headache, back ache etc the list is endless. All minor stuff can be sorted out at a pharmacy, or the GP?

However, if I felt like popping into ED to seek professional help then it would be appropriate to pay $7! And while I am waiting I could get myself a coffee, sandwich and bar of chocolate for $10. But this would be ok as I'll be too busy stuffing my face to think about the amount that I've just spent on food but never mind I'll still moan about paying a low fe of $7!!!!!!

  8. Well as a nurse in a very busy emergency department I actually wholeheartly agree with this. I have just spent $400 on my dog at the vets for an eye complaint. We seem to be ok with paying for vets bills etc and yet when it comes to paying for your own medical stuff there is a mutany.

The stupid silly things that people come into ED for that could go elsewhere for help .. but they choose to come to ED at no cost to them. I would be more than happy to pay $7 to see a qualified medical practitioner for myself or family if I was concerned in anyway. .. Rant over

  9. Been here in Brisbane 4 years every day is getting harder to be here, I find most days driving home from work I break down and cry. I feel so desperate and can't see any way out. We have two cars loans and a credit card. Found it so hard to get any kind of credit when we first arrived, we used all our saving keeping us here till we both got jobs. So we turned to the banks no help with a small loan to get us started but would give us a credit card. Used that limit quickly so they were happy to up it but again not happy to give us a small loan so now we owe a fair amount on the card. Got our self two new cars, which we just cant hand back. Were working hard paying extra off the cars and cards moving into a smaller house to pay less rent , this will save us an extra $400 a month, giving ourselfs till Aug 2015. But I'm finding everyday harder and harder, my hubby feels the same. We would love to drop everything and just go but were not that kind of people. But if the banks wont help with a loan we have no choice but to stay and work at paying the debts off.

How many other people are trapped and feel like there is no way ou?

I really hope things work out for you. I was just wondering though why you purchased 2 NEW cars? Why not buy secondhand cars for a fraction of the price?

  10. I received my letter of eligibility for registration as a nurse. I am looking for a job and so far havent been invited for an interview. Please do you know of any hospital, state or agency that is recruiting? Please help.

There has been a job freeze. Even the newly qualified nurses cannot get jobs. Funding cuts etc. I think you'll struggle in the current climate. As for agency work .. def not. I wish you well you never know.

  11. We're a family of 4 moving to Melbourn in August. We're looking for a place to stay till we find our way. The period would be 5/8 to 1/9. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Also have a look on www.gumtree.com.au I know some of the members on here say be careful of scams etc. However, I have never had any trouble renting myself and in fact getting a great long term tenant for my place via gumtree.. It's worth a try.

  12. HI

I am looking for a painter for a week. My husband is away for this week and I want to get it done while he is away. I have my brother in law staying with me and children.

Happy to accommodate for the week bed/breakfast evening meal etc. Plus daily rate for work. Does anyone know anybody who may be interested? I have been fed up with my husband telling me 'he'll do it on the weekend''. I am not sure what I am going to tell him when it is done but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it!

He will also be away for a week every other month so there will be plenty of opportunity for the right person. So much to do. I would imagine abut 2-3 months work if it was continuous.

    Your help is appreciated.

  13. Hi, I wondered if anyone living in Melbourne good give me some pointers regarding which areas of Melbourne to avoid?! I am researching short term accomodation, and longer term rentals too, and feel like my head is buzzing. I thought it would help to know where the rougher areas are. We have sons in their early teens, so even in the short term accomodation I imagine they will want to take them selves off to explore a bit, and I don't want to end up renting somewhere this would be ill advised to do!

I think my OH will be working at Campbellfield.

    Thank you for any info.

Avoid Dandenong and surrounding areas in my opinion!

  14. Hi

I am a specialist nurse with 13 years medical experience, I recieved my AHPRA in January, I have been applying for jobs since then throughout Austarlia and still have no interview. I have everything organised including having a tenent for my house who is expecting to move in soon, and I am wondering whether i should give up ???? any ideas or suggestions would be more than welcome ???

    Many Thanks x x

I work at Southern Health in Melbourne one of the biggest health care providers. Basically in my opinion there are no jobs. New graduate nurses cannot get a job anymore. There has been a bit of an uproar over it. There has been an oversupply the past year or so of nurses. Very difficult times ahead in my opinion. Good luck.
