Hi
Just interested in your thoughts really. We sold our house 'subject to contract' being the buyer needed to sell his house and he had until July to do this. A deposit of $100k was put down and a 'sold subject to contract' was put on the board. He has decided to pull out of the sale and has had his full deposit given back! He has taken his house off the market as he has changed his mind. We have however, offered to buy his house for the asking price but he has declined.
We have been left out of pocket and we have not marketed the house for 4 months as he was buying it. How can this be that he has got his full deposit back with no comeback on his part? No one seems to be bothered! How can this be legal? Our solicitor is bloody useless.

Hi there
we accepted an offer on our house with a “ subject to sell” from the potential buyers with a $50k deposit. . Our buyers have now pulled out of the sale as they cannot sell their house. However, we have offered to buy their house so sale can go through. They have declined to accept the asking price for their house.
Were in limbo now. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hi
i was wondering if anyone has done this ? I want to go to the uk for 3-6 months every year and want to take my dogs. I've just brought a house so I can spend half the year in melbourne the other half in the uk. I cannot be without my dogs. I know it will be expensive but that's how it goes.
Thanks in advance.

Dog wanted
in Pets
Hi
We have just lost our beloved 17 year old cocker spaniel. I have a 3 year old blue roan also. I would like another dog not too fussy about the breed. I will be going to the dog homes this weekend but just thought I'd put a note on here first. Happy to look after a dog if owners are going overseas. Anyway .... let me know if anyone us interested. I live in Lilydale Melbourne east. Thanks

And are you sure a name change is possible? This is usually a complete no unless you have a premium, fully flexible ticket - which few people buy.
Yes it is a fully flexible ticket. Just done the name change online with zero problems. Glad someone has got a bargain.

Ticket sold thanks

Hi what airline is it and what's the cost of a name change with them?
qantas
obviously if I can't change the name then I won't sell it! I was told $50 for each way ... I will need to check this. If I can't change the name then I'm not the slightest bit bothered . No one has died ..... ! Worst thing would be that I've lost money for the flight. My fault for not checking my mum had insurance.

I purchased a ticket for my mum to come and see us. Unfortunately she now cannot fly for medical reasons.
Bargain ticket selling at $1000 via Sydney
just need to pay for a name change

Hello, I previously posted up a similar thread but would really love to hear some opinions on this...
I am hoping to apply for a skilled permanent visa for myself and family and I am the main applicant (mental health nurse). Only possible issue we have is that I have a cochlear implant, which I had done 2 years ago. After taking advice from folk on the previous thread I put up and trawling through migration agents that specialise in complex health cases I am now wondering whether there is really any point in using a migration agent at all when they have no influence on the actual decision by the medical officer to grant a visa...
We meet the points test and are quite happy to go through the process of applying on our own, and realise that we will not be able to get a definite answer until the visas are applied and paid for, and so are willing to take that gamble with our cash if there's a chance it will get us into oz (total scam though!).But, with fees of almost £200 for a 'pre-medical assessment' in addition to standard processing fees, and no real answers, is there really any point of using an agent?!!
Cheers!
Do it yourself. Of course the agents will tell you that it's better to use them! I found it pretty straight forward to be honest. Good luck

In what way will charging a co payment to those who can't or don't want to pay it reduce attendance at an ED?
You having a dog is your choice - him or her being healthy has no advantage to society. Having a healthy workforce does.
Perhaps instead of coming to ED with a rash that you have had for 3 weeks, an ingrown toenail, a mild headache, back ache etc the list is endless. All minor stuff can be sorted out at a pharmacy, or the GP?
However, if I felt like popping into ED to seek professional help then it would be appropriate to pay $7! And while I am waiting I could get myself a coffee, sandwich and bar of chocolate for $10. But this would be ok as I'll be too busy stuffing my face to think about the amount that I've just spent on food but never mind I'll still moan about paying a low fe of $7!!!!!!

Question to the gallery. Should pensioners and concession card holders be forced to pay a co-payment?
Simple yes or no
yes

Well as a nurse in a very busy emergency department I actually wholeheartly agree with this. I have just spent $400 on my dog at the vets for an eye complaint. We seem to be ok with paying for vets bills etc and yet when it comes to paying for your own medical stuff there is a mutany.
The stupid silly things that people come into ED for that could go elsewhere for help .. but they choose to come to ED at no cost to them. I would be more than happy to pay $7 to see a qualified medical practitioner for myself or family if I was concerned in anyway. .. Rant over

Why did you partake, if you felt it was wrong?
Just curious?
No flaming intended
I did because she asked me too and she hasn't got many friends in Australia I guess she wanted to 'bump the numbers up so it appears that life is just fantastic?
-
Beggars belief.lol..... Some folk will sell their souls for money. As they say most can be bought if the price is right.
I was asked by a friend to go to her house as SHE was part of the WDU. I would not dream of saying that I did not like OZ etc because that would have not been polite in front of the camera crew and her Aussie friends etc. I am moaning out load, I suppose to PIO members which I am sorry I did ... that the filming was very staged. Of course my comment is not going to stop people from coming over .. it was a stupid remark which was made in jest. Not to be taken seriously.
What I objected to during the filming is that the film crew kept on telling all of us to say how life is great in Oz.
And YES they were being paid for the programme. I have no idea how much I did not, and would not dream of asking.
Life is very tough in my opinion in Australia.
I have forgotton how nasty and vicious people are on here sometimes.
-
Seriously though, if someone emigrated to Australia where they have an unemployment rate of a mere 5% and is unable to get a job in two years, does that not mean the person is doing something wrong? Things can definitely not be that bad?
Well it's the truth.

If you are both working that many hours to make ends meet you must be living
a. Sea view area Sydney Harbour
b. Massive mansion in Toorak
Sorry but no-one struggles here on hours like that- you must be rolling in it!
Well we are in fact. And no we live in the Eastern Surburbs.
-
I did the same earlier at $20 an hour but decided not to post it....then I found this
Australia's minimum wage is $15.96 per hour x 60 hours a week x 48 weeks of the year (assumed 4 week unpaid holidays) = $46,000 x 2 people = $92,000
($100,000 if holidays are paid)
Even after Super, Medi and Tax you have still got to be looking at a take home pay of $3,000 each
If you are working for a company that is only paying you for 35-40 hours a week and expecting you to work 20+ hours a week for free then its you own fault; a)for doing it & b)for not changing jobs
What an idiot you are! You have no idea of our circumstances.

A few months ago a friend of mine asked me to come over to her house as the Wanted Down Under team were filming an update on them about their move to Oz etc.
I had to laugh to myself. Talk about it all being staged. I had to come through the door bright and smily. (it took 3 attempts). Then we all sat around the table and we had to say
''Oh life is so great over here .. so much opportunity, the weather! the Austalians! So great for the kids .. etc..etc...''
They have been over here for 2 years now and the husband as still yet to get a job.
I don't actually come on here very often because I am too busy working 60 hours a week (same for my husband) just to make ends meet.
If I had my time again I would certainly not have emigrated. We are so much worse off here than in the UK.
I don't want to offend the ''Australian Lovers'' but this is how it is for us. The only reason why my friend did the film shoot is because they were getting paid. Funny that ...
