Hi All,
Landed in Perth a week ago, seeking work as a 457 Sponsored employee
in the building/manufacturing industries. Tonnes of exp at home- but here
that really does not seem to count for alot. I didnt think it would be a
problem, but all of a sudden when I get here, I see the way they build
is different, and the materials and specifications and regs are different,
so ya, WA exp does make a huge difference.
I've been lucky enough to be in negotiations with a company here at the moment.
But the job they are offering is not the one that I went to them about.
They said that they have done 457 Visas for people in the past
and that they can work around it.
Any one heard of this, or is this even a problem at all?
I am just worried as my familys future hangs in the balance
of this JOb going right for me, and the 457 route is the only way we see it working.
I would like to know the ins & outs of it before I agree any thing with the new employer and
start the 457 sponsorship process with them.
While I'm here - Spoke to a few Recruitment Agencies about 457 visa jobs.
Recruitment Agents here are like Car sales men, himming and hawing
and trying to broker the best deal, (for them). So far any I have met
have met me in pairs like Good Cop/Bad cop and have stories and stories
and would have you settle for the least amount going.... hard to gauge them.
Any one advise on this?
Waiting here in Perth for another week just, so would like to get this clarified
and perhaps get some advice and possible well armed questions to go back to employer about before I leave.
Thanks
D
