  1. hi guys. when i submitted my application for my partner visa in December 2012, i thought it was decision ready.. when i was sorting through some paperwork last night, i realised that the police certificate i submitted is the certified copy and NOT the original. i have read a few times that it needs to be the original. i am worried that this will mean that when the case officer gets round to looking at my application, they will see this, ask for more info then put it to the back of the pile, and i will be waiting another year or more. is it worth me sending the original to the address that is on the website and they will just put it in my file? or should i just wait until the contact me for more info? thanks in advance B xx
  2. I just checked the website that i booked my flights with, and it states in their Ts and Cs “Resident of Australia” means someone who currently resides in Australia and is eligible for an Australian Medicare Card. i should be ok because i have a Medicare card.
  3. yes i normally live in Australia, and will live in Australia when i return from holiday. I'm just really worried that if it says need to be PR and i am not, if anything happens they will not cover my claim.
  4. Hi guys. I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. i am going on holiday back to UK in May next year, but i am having a major headache with travel insurance. i only want cover for luggage and cancellation, for me and my partner. at the time i will be on either a bridging visa or a temporary partner visa, but i will not be a permanent resident, but, my partner is a citizen. every insurance company i have tried will not allow me to have insurance unless i am a resident, and the ones that specialise in non resident insurance wont cover my partner, or they are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY expensive.. any ideas???? thanks in advance xxx
  5. The things I am worried about are, will my police checks and medical expire and have to be done again? And I want to go back home to uk for a holiday but I can't plan until I Know what is happening with this visa. It's really stressing me out
  6. Hi guys. I applied for my partner visa on 5th December, I received my acknowledgment letter about 5 days later.. I have since been put on a bridging visa a... And now I have heard nothing else. My application was decision ready, had all of the info they could possibly need, I have called immigration and they'd said everything is in order. I know there was a 13 month wait time when I applied, now on the website is 6 month processing time, but I have a friend who applied about 3 weeks before me and his was approved in may, and another friend who's was approved in 6 weeks. I'm getting really concerned why mine is taking so long.
  7. Hi Guys After much stress, i have finally submitted my Defacto visa application, and have received a letter by email stating that it is being processed and that when my current (WHV) expires i will go on a bridging visa a. I thought this would be the case, but i am confused by what the letter says. you were granted a Bridging visa A upon lodgement of this application with visa condition nil what is confusing me about this is that i thought the bridging visa had the same conditions as the visa i am currently on, but accouding to this, or at least what i gather from it, is that there are no restrictions at all? i have tried looking on immigration website, but cant find anything helpful on there, and as its a weekend i cant ring them.. i will stew on this all weekend so i thought i would try my luck and see if anyone can shed any light on this Thanks
  8. this morning i have been putting together all of our evidence to go with our partner visa, but i have a question. Do i need to get every single piece of evidence signed by a JP? like every receipt and card etc? i hope not because i have like 100 pages of stuff that i have scanned and printed, o photos which i dont have the originals for because they were taken by family and friends and emailed to us thanks in advance
  9. when me and my partner applied for our joint account, the bank didnt even ask what kind of visa i was on, so im not sure why you wouldnt be able to get a bank account, even a savings account, its not like your asking for a loan. there is no risk for the bank. i opened a savings account in both our names online, without even having to go into the bank. Also, i was put on the lease in his house, and was again not questioned about my visa. registering relationship waives the 12 month relationship thing, but you still have to have proof of joint commitments..
  10. i just called another migration expert, at my own cost, and she didnt tell me anything that i didnt already know. i really wonder what they get their money for. all of the information she gave me is readily available on the immigration website.
  11. i have had the same response from 2 different ones now. i know it will not be the same for every agent, and i am by no means tarring them all with the same brush, but there is obviously a few bad eggs out there, and it is just such a shame that some people, who are clueless and need help, like i was, will listen to what they say, pay them for it, and it end up being wrong advice. Moving to Melbourne, yes they were registered
  12. do migration experts actually know what they are talking about? i wonder how many of them have given the wrong advice to people and have caused them to not get their visa or caused much more hassle than is actually worth? i emailed an agent with a query regarding the 12 month relationship requirement for a partner visa, and they replied with The partner (de facto) visa requires that you and your partner have been living together for 12 months prior to lodging your application i know thats not the case, i know that it is the case that you have to be in a reationship for 12 months, not living together for 12 months. what would have happened if i didnt already know that i wonder? and what exactly are they getting paid for? Luckily i didnt pay for that piece of useless information, but some people might. Rant over
  13. my partner is currently filling in form 40sp for our partner visa, but it asks for employment history over last 2 years. He cant remeber the dates and in what order he had his jobs. is there any way he can find this out? would ATO be able to tell him like UK Tax office can? Thanks
  14. i think i will probably just wait until we can register the relationship, and that way we wont have all of the hassle. the visa is far more important that my job. im sorry GeorgeD if i seemed stroppy, i am just getting tired of the whole process xx
  15. i work in a call centre, so i dont think 457 is possible. so realistically, i need to wait until we can register our relationship before i apply for visa? i had to come back to england because my job was there, and i had to save enough money to ensure that i would be giving myself the best possible start when i came back. my intention was always that it was going to be temporary, and the fact that i applied for my WHV as soon as i got back and booked my flight back here straight away, proves that it was always my intention to come back to australia. wont taking professional advice cost a fortune?
  16. the reason i was in such a hurry to apply for the visa, is , i wanted to try and apply for a waiver of the work restrictions that are in place on my WHV, and the only way i could see that being possible is to have applied for another visa with no work restrictions. Both of our divorces will be through long befor my WHV expires, so registering the relationship then will be no issue, so i could just be patient and wait it out. i just didnt want to have to leave my job, and look for another job that pays as well as this one does. i have never found anything that states we have to be divorced for a partner visa either, but knowing my luck, it will say that somewhere. maybe i should just deal with it, and wait it out until we can register our relationship and there will be no problems?
  17. i thought that everything was going to be straight forward with this visa application, having endured so much stress at the beginning, i was sadly mistaken. i am applying for an onshore partner visa. i am currently on a WHV. as i have only been in auatralia for 5 months, i was concerned that we would not meet the criteria for livong together for 12 months, but i have since looked over and over the imigration website, and also the Booklet 1 partner migration, i cannot find anywhere that states we need to live together for 12 months, only that we need to have been in a relationship for 12 months. we have been in a relationship for 19 months, but we didnt physically meet until 8 months after we started our relationship. when we met in august last year, my partner proposed to me etc etc.. i had to go home due to finances, work commitments, family issues etc, but we maintained our relationship over the phone, email, skype, facebook etc. i applied for my next visa about a week after i got home, and only stayed in england as long as i did to save. having looked at the commonly asked questions with regards to this i came across this: My partner and I met over the internet and we established a close relationship before we had physically met. Can the time since we began our relationship before meeting be considered as part of the relationship requirement period? No. The period where you were in contact over the internet or by other means before actual meeting cannot be considered against the one-year relationship requirement. does this mean that our relationship will be classed as being 12 months long on the anniversary of the day we met in august, and the 5 months we spent apart will not matter, as long as i can explain why we had to be apart? we are living together now, have joint finances etc, and we were even going to register our relationship, unfortunatley we are both in the process of getting divorced from other people and i dont want to wat another 4 months to apply for the partner visa. i know that this is probably a bit jumbled up, but i am getting so stressed about it now, i just want the whole thing over and done with. and advice anyone can give me will be very grately appreciated. Thanks in advance xx
