  4. Does anyone know how long an Australian police check takes?

I have 70 days to get PCCs and meds back to my case officer, and realistically I would like to take as much of that 70 days as possible as it gives me more time to validate or make the move.

I'm aware my validation date will be 12 months from the earliest of my PCCs or meds.

I assume I have 70 days instead of 28 because I have to get overseas police checks done, so wanted to know how long the Oz police checks will take, so I can use as much of the 70 days as I can, without going over my time limit.

    Thanks

Ours came back within the 15 working days they quote on their website BUT have had to ask for them to re do them because they spelt our names wrong, now waiting for them to return but I only contacted them at the end of last week about it so hope to get them back soon.

  5. Hi Bob,

We are hoping to make the move to Oz next year (hopefully around July) my cat is due his annual vaccination next week, would it be worth asking the vet to do his rabies jab at the same time or leaving until after Christmas??

    Thanks in advance

  6. Hi Bpremji,

We're very much in the same boat as you having applied on 15 June 2011. We decided to just go ahead and book medicals, and have them next Friday! Bit of a 'follow my gut' thing, but I'm taking an optomistic approach - assuming they don't suddenly remove my occupation over the next few months or anything else stops cat 4 processing, then as someone else said, I think we might be looking at COs in December and I'm quite happy to have to be in Oz by October next year. Plus Nov and Dec are going to be hectic enough for us, so we'd rather get meds and PCCs done now to get them out of the equation!

I know a few people will think I'm a bit mad, but suppose all you have to do is look at all the 18 March email applicants who have meds done about 6 months ago, and most of them seem to have been dealt with, bar for a few who will hopefully get processed soon!

We have also had our medicals done and are now awaiting police checks from UK and Oz, we submitted our application 1st June, we are aware that we may have to do it all again but were willing to take the risk, my OH medicals were referred and he had to have further checks done so this took some time tooand were not finalised until the end of September.

Hoping that things carry on moving as they are now.....

  7. Morning everyone, just wanted to share our news! We got our visa granted this morning! Still can't believe how quick it's been! :biglaugh:

Looking to move to Perth around the middle of September next year!!

Good luck to everyone in the future who reads this thread!!

    Congratulations

You are the only other "engineering technologist" that I have seen on the forum, my OH is applying under that title/code too,

Hope our visa comes as quick as yours!!!

  8. We went to Maidenhead for our medicals too and found them to be very nice, although slightly frustrating that they didnt upload my husbands second medical(he was referred for a further medical) until he reminded them and with a deadline to meet was a bit nerve wracking for a day or so!!

We have spent £1200 there so we expected them to keep to their side of the arrangement, this said I havent heard anything else negative about their service.

  9. OMG OMG OMG

I cant stop shaking we have a CO :jiggy::jiggy::jiggy:and I am at work but really shocked excited and all the rest I haven't been able to tell my husband as he is at work, we have been asigned team 4:biglaugh::wacko::biglaugh:

    Tania

Congratulations, hope its not too long before you get your visa x

  10. I have tattoos and they were done in the UK and I had to have the Hep this is at Manchester also you have to have them in Manchester if you have body piercing not ears.

    Tania

Oh, we went to the Maidenhead clinic, wonder why it's different from clinic to clinic, you would think that they have to follow the same criteria????

  11. Thanks Anlopa, does everyone do the Hep tests do you know?

We were told that if tattoos are done done in the UK then you dont need extra blood tests,

I had the hep tests because I will be working in the childcare sector, anyone working in a health setting would have to have them too.
