I've never heard of anyone being rejected unless they have serious convictions. I think the general rule of thumb is if you are sentenced to 12 months or more in prison. Don't quote me on that though.
I applied for a WHV about 3-4 years ago, for various reasons I never actually used it. Mine was granted in about 12 hours.
My brother is going on a WHV in September and his took about 4-6 hours. (We think. He was asleep while it was granted.)
I wouldn't worry, if you meet the eligibility criteria and have no major convictions, you will get the visa. Have an amazing time! It is till a goal of mine to go out on one eventually.

So sorry to hear about your nan Anna. I hope you're doing okay xx
would love to catch up with you if you can make it.
Hope you get the passport issue sorted! Exams are kind of important
Thank you, that is very kind. Yeah I hope I get back alright! I know, end of year exams. Stressful enough as they are, without know if you will miss them totally!
Luckily, so far I've had pretty decent results, so Uni are being amazing. If I get really stuck, I can just do them during the retake period in August. Probably right when this meeting up is!
Hope you are well? xx

@annagilda I see you looking, are you up for?!!
Absolutely, If i can make it! Sorry I haven't replied yet, have been out of the loop. I had to make a mad dash back to The Netherlands because my gran passed away on Monday. I've since been having all sorts of passport trouble and don't know if I can get back to the UK in time for exams, so haven't been online for a bit.
If I can be there, I absolutely will. xx

I might just show up, get on the ales and start pulling a few wheelies. It's kind of my trademark. x

No sign of it yet PB!
We shall wait and see. I'd love a decent summer! Get some good quality silage in!

Cos they have their whole family there?
... Oh wait.

I think it's pretty reasonable. Why wouldn't they recoup their costs of a PR visa? If it was a temporary visa, that may be different. If you don't like it, don't sign.

Congratulations Snifter! It's wonderful news, you deserve it and it looks like a beautiful house. x

Hey! I say go for it! I'm not quite the same as you, but I can empathise a little. I've grown up in the UK and will always love the UK. I however, don't feel English in the slightest. I've got Dutch/Irish parents. I spend a lot of time in The Netherlands, speak Dutch and have a Dutch passport. The same goes for Ireland. Speak a little Irish, spend a lot of time there and I feel Dutch and Irish. (Mad combination I know!)
I've never quite felt like I belong here in the UK for good at least. I am seen as that Dutch girl by others, (which I don't mind) I think I understand that feeling you have.
However, I would say, however English you feel in Australia, be prepared to be seen as an ozzie when you arrive in England. Here in the UK I am seen as Dutch, but when I go home to Holland, I am seen as English haha.
Other than that, come home, give it a go! Enjoy yourself, there is no reason why you shouldn't. Also the media like to portray a pretty negative picture. Sure we're still having a few issues from the recession but things are looking brighter for sure. :-) x

Looks like the area took a beating. :-( Hopefully with the winds being ok no one was hurt. Other things can be rebuilt. Hope you're all ok. xx

Honestly they are enough to drive a sane person mad, just no need. How can I get rid of them?, I know I could shoot them but I'm not really down with that I just can't deal with the intrusive noise they make all day.

Hey Crags, how are you doing?
Essentially, your or your wife's occupations need to be on the SOL Or CSOL lists as published by the Australian immigration department. You can check them here: http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/consolidated-sponsored-occupation-list.htm
If your jobs aren't listed, then there is possibly sponsorship, however as far as I am aware, this can be very difficult to gain, there are all sorts of rules and regulations.
I'm sure someone else who is more versed in the different visa options will be along in no time to give you a more detailed answer, but anyway, I wanted to wish you good luck, whatever you find.
Anna.

hi my kids did there visitor visa online last year - one came for just under 3 months and the other just over, and it took seconds, before they'd even had chance to tell me they'd applied for them (as i was worried how long they'd take) they got the confirmation back. Think the visitor ones are a formality as long as you have no convictions or restrictions on your passport, have a good holiday, word of warning its raining in Adelaide at the minute.

Oh that's brilliant! Thank you. :-) I thought it was easy like that. (It was last time, I'm just over thinking everything!)

Anyone got any idea roughly how long the current processing times are for a tourist e-visitor visa?
Hoping to go to Adelaide at the very end of June. My new passport isn't due to be ready until the middle of June, so probably only going to have a week or 2 to get the visa. I remember last time, it took about 24 hours but if anyone thinks the risk is too high with regards to just loosing the money on flights then I might reconsider.

Are you sure these are Singapore Airlines flights and not 'code shares' with KLM? That would explain the cheaper price and the Amsterdam hub.
Nothing wrong with KLM - we took that route from Perth but it is a different experience in terms of comfort and service compared to Singapore Airlines flights.
On the two airlines and what happens if it all goes wrong, ensure that the travel insurance you take out covers you for missed departures caused by public transport (including scheduled flights) - I believe any policies underwritten by Lloyds of London include this.
Another potential issue though could be if Easyjet lost your bags, I do not think they would be picking up the cost of transferring them to Australia!
Deffo flying with Singapore airlines, at least my brother is. Not that I have a problem with the KLM, but being Dutch I am a little biased.
I do agree about the experience being somewhat different to SIA though.

My brother is just after booking the same. He got a fantastic price from Amsterdam to Brisbane for September with Singapore.
It's a bit easier for us what with being Dutch and having family 10 minutes from Schiphol. I often fly over the day or even a week before if I can, visit my family and then fly on to wherever I am going. Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get to Amsterdam though, in case anything this side of the North Sea goes wrong. :-)

Absolutely sorry to hear this Nick.
Condolences to your family and especially your Wife. Can't imagine it. x

Are you a registered nurse looking for work in Australia but are on a working holiday visa and you do not want to register with AHPRA. I have the solution. A Not for Profit aged care provider is looking for experienced aged care nurses to join their team. Being situated in the Northern Territory you will NOT have to undertake the regional work on a farm to stay in the country for 2 years. What they ask in return is that you bring not only your clinical skills but also a sense of adventure. You will be helping not only aged care clients but also local Indigenous communities across the state. Please PM for details
ALARM BELLS ARE RINGING!
As has been stated before, This WOULD NOT COUNT as specified work for the second WHV.
Sounds awful dodgy to me!

Thank you everyone for your lovely words. It means a lot.
I hope to make it to the meet up, it would be wonderful.
On another note, I've just looked through a few of my last posts. I would like to apologize for my English! It is atrocious!! I guess that's what happens when you stop using it, even for only a week!!!
