<p>Hi Melanie. we have just moved to Cleveland from NZ. We were in NZ for 2 yrs prior to moving here. We are from Doncaster, S Yorkshire. I have an 8yr old boy and an 11 yr old girl. They are starting Cleveland state school next Tuesday although they are not very keen on the idea! we have had 5 weeks in the Gold Coast in a motel whilst looking for a house to rent. Any tips on the area would be greatly appreciated. My hubby works in the mines in Emerald so is away for 7 days at a time which leaves me & the kids to explore the area although it is always good to get good advice from someone who has been here a while. How long did it take your children to settle in school if you don't mind me asking as that is my biggest concern at the moment. My daughter is really worried about starting over in a place where she knows no-one! Sorry to ramble, but as you are local, I thought you may be a good one to ask. Take care. Lynda x</p>
