  1. Okay, I'll do that. Thank you Will they do it the same day? I'm kind of anxious to have this done and dusted!
  2. Hi guys, I was just filling out my painstakingly written stat dec when I relalised I've put the answer to one in the wrong box. I've found a form online that is the same but for one thing, can I use that and kind of 'edit' it? Thanks for any help! Sara x
  3. Help! I have just realised that instead of selecting the Citizenship/Immigration box on the online form I selected Overseas Employment/Visa as I was doing it at work and didn't read it properly! Will I have to do it again or can I call them and let them know the problem? I'm a bit worried as I'm running out of time before I have to send it off! Thanks for any help x
  4. Thanks so much. I didn't know it was all online, must be a recent thing - have just done it in my lunch hour I'm relieved I don't have to do one for my partner. Do I need to get a new UK one done too? Only it's a bit of a pain in the neck isn't it! Thanks again x
  5. Hello, once again I need your help lovely people. I recieved my second stage paperwork to complete and it seems fine, but I am a bit confused. They are asking for another police check but it is unclear whether they mean just an Australian Police check or another UK Police check also, which would be odd as only had them done last July and I haven't left Australia since. Also can I use my previous certificates since they are in date for another 3 months? Another point of confusion for me is since my fiance is Australian, do I need to get a police check done for him also or would that only be if he was British too? Plus he lived in the UK for 8 years so does he need a UK one too? I'm starting to panic a bit as my time is running out and all this takes time! They make it sound as if they do, but I'm not sure! Thanks so much for any help anyone can give. Sarah x

    Homesick...

Hello people. I'm feeling quite homesick today. Even after being here for 2 and 1/2 years it still hits me sometimes. I just read a post saying how lovely it was to pop around the corner and see their parents and get a hug from their mum and it's made me quite upset. I've recently found out I'm pregnant, and I'm thrilled about it, but it just breaks my heart that mum and dad aren't here to share it with me. They are coming over closer to the time, but it's just the little things. I miss my friends so much too and as much as I love it here in Oz I'm still feeling the pull of the UK. My fiance is Australian but he understands because he lived in the UK for 8 years and knows what it's like to be homesick. I'd love a visit home but can't afford it right now. I'm sorry for this rather gloomy post, but I know there are people out there who feel the same way sometimes and it feels good to write it all down. Sarah x
  7. This was my third Christmas in Oz and we had a really nice time with my fiance's family even though it was boiling hot, lol. However, I find I miss my family & friends all the more at this time of year, so much so, that I've decided next year is going to be a UK Christmas for me! Let the countdown commence xx
  8. Great post! Really happy for you, Homewardbound588, but Oh! this has made me feel really homesick! I've been in Brisbane for over 2 years now and while I do love it here, I still pine every now and then for my friends and family, the seasons, the cold winters and everything you and Lemontree46 have mentioned. We're coming up to Christmas again which is when I always feel the most homesick. Hoping to go back for a holiday next year tho!
  9. Hey all, I was granted my onshore 820 temp partner visa in August and we just got engaged a couple of weeks ago  Do I have to let DIAC know or is that something they only needed to know while they were processing it? Thanks people Sarah x
  10. Thanks so much guys, I still can't really believe it, I'm so used to stressing about it. I will indeed be checking my post tonight Loopylu, and good luck to Kellbell, it shouldn't be too much longer. I'd just like to thank everyone who has helped me out on this amazing forum. I would quite literally have been lost without all your valuable advice. xx
  11. I was just checking my Vevo status, as I do fairly often waitiing to see the usual message but no! Today I have been granted my 820 Partner Visa and I am thrilled! After 15 months of stressing and worrying I finally have it! I'm now just awaiting the official documentation!!!! So happy! Will have a big grin on my face all day. Just in case anyone wonders, I submitted everything but my police checks on May 27th 2011 at the Brisbane Office. Good luck to all you guys out there still waiting, I feel your frustration. )) xxxx
  12. Hey, I applied for my online AFP on 12th July and got an acknowledgement email straight away and then another one the next day asking me to upload my identification and I got my certificate in the post on Wednesday so all in all it only took about 2 weeks. It's really strange that yours is taking so long. I know they were had a big backlog but thought the online version was a quicker way round it. I hope you get yours soon
  13. I realise the address is on the forms but it's a PO Box and the bank will not let me use it to apply for a bankers draft. I think the simplest option is as you guys say, to send it to my parents and ask them to do a cheque and send it on. Thanks for you help guys.
  14. Hello lovely people, I wonder if anyone can help me. Last week I received an email from Immigration requesting my police checks. I've done my Australian one as I could do that online, my problem is with the UK one. I have all the paperwork ready to go but when I went to NAB to get a bankers draft, they told me that I couldn't have one unless I had a postal address for them as they do not accept PO Box addresses. They only state the PO Box address on the forms and the only other address I have found is this - HPA Westgate Chambers, Staple Gardens Winchester SO23 8AW Would this be the correct address? If it's not I am unsure what to do - I don't think Australia Post would do anything similar. I could send it to my parents but that will take even longer! Thanks in advance for any thoughts, Sarah x
