  1. Well I guess if they have never been then yeah, I'd leave it blank. If it lets you leave it blank then I'd say that was correct. Mind actually have been here, so that bit was easy. It amazing how often you have to enter the same into multiple times. For my holidays since I was 18, I filled all that out when I applied for PR, so they already have that, but you have to go though the pain of entering it all again. I'm just going to do the last 10 years for that.

  2. Hello,

I have just started my application for citizenship and I am not sure about the bit where you enter your parents citizenship details. The question is...

Has this parent ever held citizenship of any country? Include all current and all previous citizenships held

So my parents are standard British born and raised with British passports, so do I need to fill this part out? The pop up box asks for when and where the citizenship was acquired, how am I supposed to answer that? They wont know as their parents would have done it.

    Thank you for any help.

  3. Has anyone tried to transfer money from Santander to Moneycorp? It has been nothing but a nightmare. I'll forgo the hour and a half I spent on the phone to Santander to get my payments to moneycorp, but I have received an email from MoneyCorp telling me I have a negative balance, but the money should have been there by now. Looking at my online transactions is confusing, it looks like the money left my account, came back, then went out again.

30th - Bill payment via faster payment to moneycorp reference <myrefnumber>  THE £ AMOUNT
1st - Pended bill payment credited for interest to moneycorp      THE £ AMOUNT
1st - Bill payment via faster payment to moneycorp reference <myrefnumber> THE £ AMOUNT

Does anyone know what this means? I cant ring the bank as its out of hours, and also for Moneycorp. I mean, its only going from one UK account to another UK account. What's the bloody issue? Very frustrated, I've done my part, now it looks like the bank is shafting me. The Au$ should have been bought on Friday as per the contract.

  4. John,

Is the budget expected to weaken the pound?

I am thinking of using MoneyCorp, I've opened an account and uploaded documents. I was wondering why MoneyCorp does not provide the opportunity to put in a figure somewhere so a customer can see what they would get after the transfer, Transferwise has this on their website.

  5. Hey does anyone know about the Euro 2016 coverage in OZ? I'm not a massive football fan but I do like the international games. I have Fox Sports on a sh*tyy t-box (terrible picture quality), but not seen anything on Euro 2016 coverage.

  6. Hey PW1, u totally misunderstood. I may have asked more questions but my intention was just to get some help from somewhere. On my front, I m also trying hard to find jobs. I also have friends in OZ but all of them have told me to try hard to get job from the day u get PR as they said it takes a lot of time to search job after coming here, entire family including spouse, kids and parents also suffer. I may not get a job until I m in OZ, but atleast I want to give my 100% in job search. So don't tell me what to do. People who genuinely want to help provide suggestions.

Hello Sameer123, sorry, didn't you post to ask people what to do? And I suggested you read the thread. Once again, good luck, I wish you well.

  7. Samer123, don't you think that with the power of the internet at your fingertips, you could try putting in some effort to find recruiters yourself, rather than randomly posting a question on this site and expect people to do the hard work for you. Either that or you are not a naturally resourceful individual. I have read every post on this thread, and there have been several posts that answer your questions one way or another. So, at the very least, make the effort to read through the thread and do something for yourself. I don't mean to be harsh, but first impressions make it seem like your looking for an easy road to take, when there really isn't any. Still, good luck, I wish you well.

  8. Its been 3 months for me now since I started searching for job. I have a great 2 yrs local experience under my belt. Inspite of that not getting any calls. neither from any recruitment agency or from an employer. This country is really getting on my nerves.

Hello, what methods have you used to find a position? Let us know, somebody may be able to suggest something new, put your industry quals in your signature so people can see what you have. Mrs POB, left a great post a week or so ago, have a look at that, have you tried any of these things?

    Regards,

  9. Just thought I'd chime in and share my experience...

Last year my husband and I decided to take the plunge, we relocated from just outside of London to just outside of Sydney. We decided that the 457 visa would be the easiest pathway for us to get to Australia. So we both went searching on the net, like most folks we found and applied to loads of adverts on Seek, only to realize we were wasting our time on 2am calls with agencies just milling out our CVs (my husband is a welder and I have 15+ years of international experience in technical pre-sales for collaborative technologies), the majority of adverts we answered weren't for actual positions.

So after about 3 months of nada, I changed my tactics, I researched specific Sydney-based companies I thought I would like to work for and also tried to figure out which companies were investing in the technologies I liked to work with - I ended up with 22 companies on my "hit list". I then followed each individual company and their recruitment accounts on Twitter, I followed them on LinkedIn (I made sure I had a solid, up-to-date profile) and, if they had one, joined their LinkedIn group. I found their recruiters' profiles on LinkedIn and sent them "In Mail" introductions (I upgraded my LinkedIn account to premium for this specific reason), I explained who I was, why I was contacting them and more importantly why their company appealed to me. Within 2 months a had a firm job offer and a 457 to boot. Of course not all the emails worked, but I will say the majority of them did. Plus, the contacts I made then allowed me to make another job change 6 months later.

There are jobs out there and I don't think it's any different than trying to land a job in England. Sure it can be a bit more complex if you are doing it remotely, but that just means you need to be a bit more creative in your approach.

    Area: Sydney

Position: Solution Architect (Microsoft Collaborative Technologies)

This is a great post, thank you for taking the time out, much appreciated!

    Regards,

    PW.

  10. Hey folks,

This thread looks quite interesting. Kudos to all you guys who are keeping it alive.

It helps a lot of people who are in a dilemma.

Just to mention about myself, I am a S/W developer with ASP .Net, C#, SQL Server background with 6+yrs of experience.

Got my 189 PR visa Oct'13 and Planning to migrate with my wife who is S/w test engineer with 5yrs exp in Manual Testing.

Plan is to migrate in Jun'14.

I have started looking out for jobs from India, but as many ppl mentioned in this thread, haven't got any luck getting a call yet, as I am not on ground!!!

Well, that's the reason consultants gave me when I called them.

Beebs, please let me know any job opportunities matching mine or my wife's profile that you are aware of.

    Happy job hunting guyz :)

    Cheers!!!

Chethoo, thanks for your contribution, the thread is really geared towards people who are already here and looking rather than asking people for opportunities when you have not arrived yet, otherwise it dilutes the threads purpose and loses focus. That aside, your post would be a little more relevant to the thread, and more helpful to you and the readers if you actually mentioned where it is you intend to settle when you eventually get here. Cheers! P.

  11. Hello Everyone,

I will finally be making the trip over to Melbourne this year, I was wondering how all the previous posters have got on since? Even if its just one sentence, a little update from everyone would be really interesting, don't forgot to mention what you do, and where you are located so people can work out if its relevant to them. Remember its not a thread for finding a job, its a thread to find out how you are getting on finding a job, and how you view the industry as it stands.

Looking forward to hearing your replies! Thank you, everyone and happy new year (the 7th, I think I'm still in the 'Happy New Year' window?)!

    Regards,

    Paul.
