  1. its worth bearing in mind that there are ways in Australia to buy vehicles for less that carsales.com prices and below redbook. i realize its not for everyone, but for example auctions in Australia are far more transparent than the uk. the bidding process is more transparent - no bids "off the wall", and all newer vehicle come with vehicle inspection reports - detailing faults. I've been involved in car sales in uk and australia and also looked into importing.

     

    Thats not to say in some circumstances its not worth it - but for bread and butter vehicles you need to look beyond the straight redbook price. for example is it Australian spec (will main agents recognize the VIN and have all the parts). There are plenty of cars that in UK are diesel but mainly sold in Australia in petrol. As unlikely as it sounds big petrol engined vehicles (which no one wants in uk and so are worth next to nothing) maybe best to bring out here - for example land cruiser and BMW X5 V8 petrol. Friendless in the UK but in demand out here
