How will kitty cope?!

Hiya! I was worried sick at the thought of my beloved 15 year old cat "Pebbles" keeling over after all the drugs she had to endure :-( and then there's the never-ending god know's how many hours flight from LHR to Sydney (Eastern Creek) - so I thought it best to send the cat first - 2 weeks before us...then I couldnt chicken out of coming! This gave me time to call everyday at 3pm (aus time) to Alicia who fell in love with my cat (thank god!) at Eastern Creek....apparently my cat was really good with the flight as it turned out - because she was used to Aircraft flying over us in the UK :-) something I wouldnt even think of! Older pets are better too as they are happy in their cages.....well this cage fitted me, my hubby and my 3&4year old in...so not that small! :-) Pebbles even had a nice box with a heated bed in it - charmed life for sure! When I finally got here (completely jet-lagged!) we went to see her...was one of the best moments of my life and totally made me feel better...10 days after this (my wedding anniversary) we picked her up - best present ever! She's just celebrated her 18th and really happy, although when its stinking hot out there I do bring her in and she doesnt wonder anywhere past the back garden, we have our house sprayed regular and am always careful with spiders...I'm on the coast so dont get many and the breeze makes it cooler...happy days now...so good luck with your baby, like mine it will surprise you! And fill us in when your here.x
4. Try Raine & Horne, Portside, Coastal, Global - all are in my region :-) Cooler (bearable) by the coast in summer too and you get to cool off in the sea! Nelson Bay is good - if you can afford and views are fantastic! Newcastle near CBD has also a great nightlife - if you see Stockton - its a cheap ferry ride over to Newcastle CBD, although recently has been a chemical leak up there! Check rental has air-con...need it when its really hot (to sleep!) Good luck!
5. Hello there, Anyone out there in our neck of the woods wishing to meet us? We are a happy family of 4 (southern softies - 2 kids aged 4&6) and would love to meet some more pommes over here and to raise a glass with for pure friendship  Cheers and lets talk soon.x
6. We would be happy to be filmed - we left a huge amount of friends in the UK and have had lots of ups&downs here and remember the TV show very well - so would be happy to help :-)
7. Avoid eating bananas - read this somewhere! Use Euculuptus somewhere on you - apparently burns their senses...have no idea if this is true? Also the warmer you are the more likely you will be bitten - shower or swim somewhere before going out. Can you sit in the sun? hardening/tanning the skin is sopposed to make it harder for them to penetrate - good luck :-) I'm still sure that if you eat foods containing garlic they leave you alone!lol
8. I will ask my hairdresser if she can braid? If so you can come visit us.x
9. Hiya, you will love it! and its really hot here - remember to pack light and maybe a raincoat (just incase of the odd shower) and make sure you hit those beaches :-) I live up in the bay so contact me if you need any more info? Long flight but so worth it!x
10. No probs - life is really good here and just let me know if you need help? Good friends are bloody hard to find here, most I have met are fair-weather type!
11. Cool - Sherbertdip - whereabouts in Hampshire are you from? We came over from there! small world hey :-) Also think I paid Quarantine fees when I got here on collection of my cat when she was released and we also got to keep the wooden box she came in :-)
12. This list is good - dont forget the Centrelink / Family Assistance thing for those that have kids - have to register with them and provide all documents to them too  oh and the RTA (in NSW) to get your licence to drive!

14.

Welcome to our world

15. Hiya, I have seen "the new black industries" in Newcastle - must be near the main train station :-) or try Gumtree? Most hairdressers will braid.x
16. Hi there, we live just outside Newcastle on the coast of Port Stephens and property here is cheap to buy :-) Small place surrounded by beautiful beaches and has good schooling, we love it hear and I would highly recommend living here. Newcastle is not far for work - 30 to 40 mins and there's always jobs for electricians in this region - especially UK ones who know what they are doing :-) I have found a part-time job too that's flexible with my kids. The only thing I cant find is a decent best friend who I can share the odd glass with - think its because of my apparent "posh" accent! So I cant give up my facebook UK friends for sure :-)
17. I live on the coast outside Newcastle as we purchased our property - Try Gumtree? Or one of the Real Estate companies that rent properties in the area. If you do rent? You have to put up about 6-8 weeks in fees (a months rent & a bond) so bear this in mind & good luck!
18. Hi there,we used Air Pets UK in June 2009, for our cat, she travelled from London Heathrow to Sydney and spent 4 weeks in Quarantine, I sent her 2 weeks before we arrived so that we could visit her in Eastern Creek Quarantine Station in Sydney :-) Was not cheap! But she did travel direct on a BA flight non-stop and gold premium class. I have heard recently that all pets since January 12 now need a rabies vaccine within a set time period before travelling to Australia. Good luck :-) P.S she's still alive will be 18 in afew weeks &loving Aus :-)
