  1. Wow congrats! That is very good news.

How long did it take you? I've been waiting for around 9 months and I haven't heard anything from AHPRA for over 2 months. Called them last week and they said my case worker would call me back with some feedback, but of course she never did. I've tried this before and she basically never calls me back. We are at the verge of loosing our house because we cant't make the repayments without me working. So frustrating.

    Hi Petal.

I had an email at the beginning of March saying they'd received my application. Approx 4 weeks later I was asked to supply another verification from the NMC. At the end of April I emailed to ask if they'd received this & was told at this point that my application had been forwarded for assessment of my qualification. I didn't have any other correspondence until my email on 11 July saying my application was approved.

Although I've 12 months to attend an AHPRA office to prove my identity, if it's more than 6 months I've to also supply further proof of my current nursing registration with the NMC.

I have been lucky that I certainly didn't have to wait 9 months for an outcome x

  2. I have been lucky enough to get the golden email today with my letter of eligibility from AHPRA.

My background is having a BA Nursing Studies & BSc Hons Specialist Community Public Health Nursing.

However, after 20+ years of nursing alongside colleagues who's training ranged from the old modular training through to masters level I am deeply saddened that highly trained, highly experienced, dedicated & intuitive nurses are not perceived to be 'good enough'. I will continue to support everyone on here & it's from the bottom of my heart that I hope you are all successful in knocking down & destroying the large barrier AHPRA have erected on your path to Oz xx

  3. morning guys, just a quick update for you.I woke up to an email from APHRA....i have received notice of in principal APPROVAL registration subject to proof of identity (being passport and proofof Aus address) to present in person by the 4th July 2015.

though hopefully it provides you some hope they are finally doing registrations, unfortunately i was Bsc with Hons trained not diploma. it is exactly 4 months to the day i originally applied.

Hopefully this is a sign that many more of us will be receiving some good news............good luck everyonexx

Congratulations. It's nice to hear someone getting some good news on this thread x

  4. I'm really sorry to hear your news abbilouiseslatter.

My thoughts are the same as the others though, that if it's your dream then you have to plough on & jump through this new hoop if it's nursing you want to continue with & not give up. I realise it is easier said than done though & I really hope you end up where you want to be.

  5. Hi guys, just to let you know, a girl who is with the same nursing agency as me received her AHPRA registration on Wednesday this week! She applied in October and has a degree in nursing from the uk. Hope this is a positive sign for everyone and they'll slowly start coming through!...x

Thanks for this Lilmiss. It's good to hear there is movement. Hopefully, since the board are meeting fortnightly more people will start hearing from AHPRA.

  6. I am hoping to hear something this week/early next week. They set a deadline of 19th Jun to make a decision on my case, (they chose to extend the assessment period). They haven't contacted me to extend it again....yet! but as it is tomorrow, I am hoping this will be result time.

I am hoping for a yes, expecting a no and a suggestion of bridging

Good luck. Any news would be progress just now x

  7. Hi Hayley,

Yep, we are all being driven crazy on here but at least we're all in it together.

We've got PR as well & the house is up for sale. The college I did my nursing degree at no longer exists & my transcript only states pharmacology so the NMC sent some general EU directive. I've no idea if this will be enough evidence to cover criteria 8 & will just have to wait for the outcome. Personally I'm determined to go no matter what even if it means a career rethink.

  8. Hi everyone, just to make you aware these are 2 tweets from AHPRA this morning in response to 2 questions

DipHE is AQF level 6. IQNM Criterion 4 requires AQF7. Post reg nursing quals also considered. AQF info: bit.ly/1nDMGxh

The local Board is meeting on a fortnightly basis for those IQNM applications that require a decision of the local Board

  9. Hi Titan. They have sent an 8 page document asking me to send proof of 3 further criteria on my diploma and approx 6 other various criteria on my nursing degree to prove it is equivalent to an Aus degree. (when anmac have already approved it). They have had all the transcripts etc already plus extra documentation on pharmacology etc. I think I will have to phone someone and get Anmac to send my file aswell even though I resent everything!! #stressed:mad:

There doesn't seem to be any end to this, beginning to wonder if AHPRA themselves actually know what they're looking for in our qualifications :ssign1:

  10. Hello everyone I have received a messaged from AHPRA, and they are going to look into the registrations. They have asked for names of those who have been waiting from last year before the framework, I am not sure what it means in terms of what actually will be achieved. I also have the shadow assistant health ministers(Oz) from labour paries and MLC looking into the situation and I will be speaking to them sometime tomorrow morning Oz-time.

Well done & thanks for all the work you've done so far.

It doesn't apply to me as I only applied at the end of Feb but perhaps those who applied before the changes will be assessed using the old framework.

  11. Geordiegirl - reading the other tweets Ahpra also say the 'first cohort' will be getting decisions soon. Surely you and a few others fall into that category!! There have been a barrage of tweets over the weekend re: overseas nurses.

Thanks for keeping us updated. I see they've also mentioned the board is meeting 'more frequently' due to the number of applications.

  12. thanks , will do that and get it underway . is the nmc verification of registration enough to cover that , the nmc one that cost £34?

I've also sent a copy of the form regarding criteria 3 that's now on the AHPRA website to the verification dept at the NMC for them to complete & send to AHPRA. I don't know if they've done it yet because I've not had any contact from them but I don't think there's a charge for this. If I get asked to pay extra I'll let you know.

  13. dont quite have all docs ready for ahpra yet , shall i just apply now seeing as they are taking so long at times ? still need to contact uni about pharmacology criteria , ... anmac can send other stuff to them . shall i apply and wait gor them to ask for other stuff they want?

Think I would consider applying as I assume they've got a large backlog if people who applied last August are just getting their LOE now. Ask ANMAC to send on your file & that'll cover some of the documentation. I contacted NMC & uni at the same time I sent my application just so they'd have it before the other stuff was sent, although I think the NMC has still to send confirmation my course was verified! They're not the quickest.

  14. Hi all, whilst i am still at the "i'll believe it when i see it stage" i phoned AHPRA and was advised "it's good news, the evidence you've provided has met the education criteria 1-8 so that's good, it's now gone to the professional registrations officer for final sign off, it's on her desk as we speak so i've emailed her to get a timescale for you"........here's hoping!

That's great news. Thanks for keeping us updated, it offers some hope

  15. Hi Bigmac.....this is what my case officer said about the EU directive...."The NMC did not have a copy of your transcript of training and sent a copy of the EU directive in its place. This is a general document which does not relate directly to your course of study, but will be included in the application. The university of Lancashire have provided a transcript summary. It would be advisable to see if you can obtain a further breakdown of the module/subject which covered medication management and have the university provide this information to AHPRA"......i've managed to get the uni to send a letter re criteria 8 and a further breakdown, but looking at the fact sheet on this criteria i can't see how i'm going to meet it to be honest

I really don't know what's going to happen here. Can't believe there's a chance I won't get registered even though I've worked constantly as a nurse for over 20 years. Very frustrating!!

  16. Received this from the NMC today.

"Unfortunately a copy of your RN1 transcript could not be located; however I have included a copy of the EU Directive. This document outlines the successful training programme that you completed in order to be registered with this council."

Had asked them for a transcript of my Nursing Degree as the uni transcript only stated pharmacology & they didn't hold any more info as I completed it back in 1991.

Have no idea if this EU directive will state enough for Criteria 8. Will let you all know in due course incase anyone else is in the same boat.

  17. agreed; they've been particularly obtuse about the whole thing, although they have sent us a confirmation letter stating that they have sent the required info through re criteria 3 and my uni have sent through the stuff for criteria 2 & 8 so it's been over to AHPRA again to see what more we need to send!

Harby88 how long did it take the NMC to send on the info to AHPRA after you requested it?

  18. hey bouncy guidelines for cpd on ahpra web site but it basically 20hrs in last year. There is template on site ( can't put link up soz as not great with tech) I got my ward manager to verify cpd. Even reading article can count as do mandatory study!

Big Mac see you sent ur ahpra just before I did any word from they!!(am praying mine not lost:( the thought of gathering all info again:( then again only posted two weeks.

I had an email from them on 5/3/14 saying they'd received my application & the money was taken the same day. I've asked my uni & NMC for further info to be sent to cover criteria 2,3 & 8 so now hoping they can do that & also hoping it doesn't get lost in transit.
