  1. nope link don't work for us either.....
  2. Been checking Gumtree and Ebay over last few weeks, as its getting closer to our move date (Aug 7th), looking for a Sprinter or Transit LWB high roof. Firstly cannot believe how expensive they are compared with back here in UK but secondly the lack of vans for sale! unless we are looking in the wrong place? Anyway just a note to people that if they are aware of a good van long wheelbase high roof (if sprinter, ok with MWB) going for sale around August time, please let us know. Thanks in advance
  3. Oh and the UK has changed in the last 6 years...... for the worse. In our opinion of course
  4. After reading jb39 initial post, its confirmed why we cannot wait to get out of UK..... Bring on August....... :-)
  5. Not sure this is on the correct thread so please move if necessary. We are flying out in August to move to Newcastle, and my first priority is to find a rental property, so we can then find schools for the kids. We have temporary accommodation booked for 4 weeks. We also need to find jobs once we arrive. As far as i understand it we can't we a rental property without such things as a tax file number or a medicare card. But can you apply for a tax file number or medicare card when you don't have a permanent address? Feel like we are stuck in a catch 22 situation, or am I understanding it wrong. Any advise appreciated. Nikki
  6. Thans so much for sharing this spreadsheet, you have thought of everything. I am a spreadsheet queen myself, but mine is no where as intense as this!! We appear to be in the same ball park for a lot of things such as groceries and car costs, but i guess we will know for real when we arrive in August. Being an accountant, no doubt I will keep tract, and can update people. Have you not made the move yet Itchyfeet76?
  7. I'm trying to decide between Doree Bonner, PSS and John Mason. So anyone who could give a reference it would be useful. The on,y difference we found was that PSS is £2k cheaper than the other two, for a 40ft container, and my thoughts are what have they missed or not telling us. Cheapest is not always the best in my experience, it can usually cost more in the long run. totally agree about being a minefield, none of the above have really explained very well about us taking our car, and we have had to do our own research on cost once the car arrives in Australia. Decided to probably send this via a specialised firm that only ships cars.
  8. Hi anyone arranged there own shipping? After recommendations for freight forwarders in NSW to deal with the customs clearance and movement of goods? cheers nikki
