Tell your friend to seek professional advice about a pre-migration skills assessment from a registered migration agent. He would then be less likely to embark on a costly course of action that would lead nowhere.

It is 15 points for a degree, there is no mention anywhere that the degree has to be in the same discipline as the nominated occupation.

 

However your friend also has to pass a skills assessment and it could be that the degree will be a problem here? It depends upon the skills assessment requirements.

I have a confusion which I would like to be cleared with the help of esteemed members of the forum

My friend is telecommunication engineer, but has a bachelor degree in computer engineer. His experience is 8+ years as telecommunication engineer.

So, Now he thinks apply for assessment as professional telecommunications engineer, based on his experience.

Would he lose the points for his degree (that is computer engineering) while applying for 189 visa as he is not assessed as computer engineer.

Do the assessment qualification as bachelor degree need to be same for 189 visa to get points for 4 yrs degree
