  1. So does every other country , its called the economic cycle? http://www.propertyobserver.com.au/residential/australia-s-chronically-weak-house-prices-is-the-crash-upon-us-or-a-long-term-flat-trend-shane-oliver/2012062855322 Its not all doom and gloom Ausborn , but take a look at the graph which shows the long term trend and the real house prices , maybe your supreme knowledge on economics and statistics will enable you to decipher the simple graph.
  2. The dollar is likely to stay strong for a number of years , with the developing world countries demand for Australia's natural resources still buoyant this will keep it over valued. Keep an eye on the rates once she starts to drop, off load it or you can as you said get rid of it now, personally I will keep it here for another while.
  3. Yep thats deffo on the cards, what goes up must come down, its not a matter of if but a case of when. House prices are way over inflated here and a correction will be imminent. As Lambeth said there are places where it is more affordable, plenty of them around the country,he mentioned Frankston, Lara or North Geelong is not to bad either. But as a whole house prices are fairly over inflated. I have been here 8 months and as a single man I think I will save my money for a few years and buy something cheap elsewhere. I cant see either how you could retire in this country , I heard on the local news that the baby boomers need 55k per year to retire!, the days of Australia being a country where you could have a comfortable life as a working class person are on the way out.
  4. Eastern Europeans.. I lived with a few Polish people in London, lovely people great drinkers ( bit to much with the vodka) and they have some lovely cured meats French: I love them and their country I drove from St Malo to Hossenger surfing, eating fresh bread, cheeses, pate and washed down with vino. Viva La France. Africa: Have only been to mystical Morocco, Mauritania and the Western Sahara in a Toyota Hilux , lovely places with deep histories and cultures, the spices and food in the souks are amazing, sorry I have only been to North western Africa, but the rest is on the list to do
  5. ****............... I am half bogan I eat pies and drink beer!!!! I refuse to buy a ute as they are a complete was of space, can i be a bogan with a Honda CRV LOL!!
  6. Is it a dislike of outsiders?, an expectation that outsiders should behave only in a certain way whilst in Australia?, fear of difference?, or was her singing really just that bad?! I think its a combo of all the above, there is a bit of an undertone of anti-immigrant sentiment no matter where your from and as the economy tightens more this will rear its ugly head. Blaming the immigrant for all of your woes is an easy shot. I think its fear of difference more than anything and lack of culture on the bogans behalf. It occurred on a bus in Frankston (i think) and it is not a very delightful part of town according to some people. TBH it just looked like bogans being bogans, if you dont drink VB, own a Holden, eat pies, speak our language etc etc , then your not an Aussie! and plus half of them have probably never been outside of Aus and probably didnt even know it was french she was speaking. Her singing was terrible
  7. Tell me about it I am from the North west of Ireland, what does nee kill ya only makes ya stronger To be honest I don't mind it and prefer to have 4 seasons. I know what your saying about the weather and making the soul happy, but too much sun and you will end up like a zombie and get lazy quickly LOL The Metro train and trams runs till 12 most nights and runs later on certain events , Night buses run too , I have never had a problem getting a taxi plenty of them in the city centre. Its easy to get around Melb the trams are great Sure if anything come over for a weekend have a good look around and get on the beer or vino with the misses Its a lovely city nothing ventured nothing gained
  8. "What struck me was the really visceral tone of the anger and how quickly this flared up" That is when she should have put a lid on it! she kept going and inflamed the situation further, I think she was drunk and did not expect to get such a response.
  9. pretentious metrosexuals???? you hung around with the wrong crowd toots and probably the wrong part of town! Triple J is ****! Interesting= that's why they are in Perth! Driven= Yea I am sure employers will be all ears that you worked in the most isolated city in the world! They will probably ask you to study a 4 year degree to catch up on the rest of Australia. Young professionals who work hard = There is nothing else to do over there! Enjoy their time off= Drinking in Northbridge (the handful of pubs and clubs that's in it) Melbs ROCKS Perth SUCKS PS : I love the way you make Perth sound so cosmopolitan! like it is New York or London LOL!!!
  10. Watch it on Youtube, if she had shut up initially after some people has passed remarks , I don't thing it would have went so far ie the brick being hurled through the window, by the end of the incident it looked like half the bus was ready to lynch her! Common sense would have been to keep her mouth shut. I think she was a young,French backpacker who was probably half pissed.
  11. I seen it on the news and Youtube, she did bring much of it upon herself, thats no excuse for the behavior of those bogans!
  12. Your looking in the wrong dictionary Andy LOL!! check this out http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=redneck or better still have a look at this http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=bogan
  13. Thats fighting talk Andy I am putting 20 of the Queens pounds on flag of convenience for a KO LOL!!! Jerry Jerry Jerry LOL!! Andy you need to lighten up!
  14. I am no doctor , but you seem like a tall lad? I dont know about that BMI scale I was always top heavy, broad shoulders as i used to swim and play rugby a lot that BMI scale recokend I was overweight, even a doctor said i was fine. To be honest i went and did my meds for my visa the day after a 2 week bender in Spain!! I had the shakes from alcohol and my blood pressure was through the roof LOL!!! I had to get my blood pressure taken by my doctor the following week when it regulated, which it did no problems , observed 3 times at normal levels, got the visa about 3-4 weeks later.
  15. Townsville and Bradford its like comparing chalk and cheese!
  16. Never mind the kids, I dont have enough time to surf LOL!!!
  17. They are good cars but some 2.5 engines suffered from head gasket problems from 98-2005 and even some 2006 models had problems, $3,000 to fix and the engine has to come out as the "boxer" engine is opposed and lays horizontal therefore the heads are inaccessible , it seems like a pain in the ass to change the spark plugs too. Besides that they are good cars, I chose the Honda solely for higher driving position and its easier to service myself.
  18. Or a old Volvo as drivers are terrible here a Panzer or Shermen tank is not a bad option either!, I cant understand how many people are killed on the roads here, the roads are good, the cars are generally too , It has to be driving standards and driver education?
  19. Thats strong stuff Globe trotta sounds like your experience has not been the most pleasant when and where will you move next?
  20. I could not agree with you more! Australia seems to have turned very American to me, work , work , work , seems to be losing that work/lifestyle balance very quickly. Many people think that they will spend a few hours everyday rolling around on the beach, but end up stuck in the office and its deffo getting worse as the economy tightens , as employers look for more productivity from the chimps
  21. You need to be here really for any employer to take you serious, that's what i found.
  22. Take a look at BAE in Williamstown they are kitting out 2 new Canberra class helicopter landing vessels, I had a job there pending the granting of my ARTC certificate for my trade , which came too late as the positions had been filled The money was not great but its 3 years worth of work and they have loads going on Oz wide , they have a big project in Henderson in WA, SA and other parts of Oz
  23. Thank you northshorepom, jesus some of the people on this! PC brigade in overdrive! I totally agree with you with the multicultural point you have made.
  24. You know what i mean Andy! Get a grip if that's your take, you will be very offended when when you get here! Maybe your better off staying in Bucks?
  25. Buckets of American S***e , don't go near one!
