  2. Hi Flatpack, i done the interview in London (Kent) make sure you do you're homework its not that easy, they will ask you questions on every module for a carpenter thats on their website.... You guessing you're a kitchen fitter??? If you want any info let me know. Cheers Chris.
  3. Hi I done mine about 3 years ago, I sent my nvq level 3 certificates , I had 2 site managers I knew write me a letter on headed paper stating that I had done various carpentry jobs on their sites for the past 5 years. And I wrote a letter with all my history of apprenteship and what work I have done to date, certified them all and that was enough I passed level at level 1, and sat the technical interview a few months back which was pretty tough but ok depends on you're nerves more than knowledge if you know you're stuff. cheers Chris

  5. Agree with that, you just got to get an interview or a chance to show you're any good....
  6. I'm a kitchen installer in the uk, I've never been asked for qualifications all my work goes on merrit, I am a carpenter/joiner though so I've never had to worry. is there much call there for installers? cheers chris
  7. Hi Dan, I would of thought so either a carpenter/joiner or cabinet maker. whats you're situation are you in Oz already? If so may not be such an issue as you could show you're skills, but if you're in the Uk and you are applying for a visa you could possibly need the quals for the application. Cheers Chris

  10. Hi I done the tech interview instead of the practical so I'm not a great help but I'm pretty sure you have mark out and assemble a hip roof this is done on a sheet of ply a wall plate is fixed around the perimeter and a little stud wall built at one end with you commons and you're hip rafters coming of this, there might be a saw horse to make as well and they will ask questions through the day, search through the search engine on this site I'm sure you'll find more info. cheers Chris
  11. Hi Dan I'm from Swansea in Wales, Ielts is my next step and if successful I'll go for a 189 or 190 visa, I'm in no rush so I might just sit tight for a 189, Any reason why you've chosen Perth? I can't get my head around where i'd like to settle, been looking into Perth, NSW Newcastle area and Adelaide they all look very nice Have you started preparing for the Ielts yet I don't think it's gonna be easy so I'm gonna book up this weekend for July and order some books up and get into them.

  15. Hi Rupert thanks for you're replies, as WA are offering state sponsorship for both trades on the same list I thought it was worth a shout, but hey no worries Ielts it is

  17. I'm think going to give Ielts a shot and see how I get on, if I think there's no chance ill take the 190 route.....

  19. Hi we are thinking getting my wife's hairdresser skills assessed for an additional 5 points for a 190 visa, it's either that or I do IELTS to try and achieve 7's for a 189. So my question is if we do make the move would my wife need to have her skills assessed which ever route we take so she would be able to work or would her NVQ level 3 allow her to work? Or would potential employees insist on the Aussie qualification?
  20. Checked Vetassess website this morning and hey bingo so now I have to decide wether to try and get 7's in IELTS and go for a 189 I'm UK born and bred but this IELTS looks like a bit of a knitemare, or I can apply for state sponsorship with WA as a carpenter and claim 5 points for my wife as a hairdresser under the 190 visa..... What do you guys think any pros or cons you can point out? Cheers Chris
