  1. Hi Janie

    How's it going?

Thanks for the reply / post.

We've looked at Avoca and it looks great!! I'm not on Facebook but my wife is so i'll ask her to look into it - thanks for that.

Yeah, I think the Central Coast would be a fantastic place for children to grow up.

    Speak to you soon

Hi there. We've been here nearly 2 years and it's a lovely place to live. The school is good and everyone is really friendly. There are surprisingly a lot of Brits in Avoca (good or bad, depending how you look at things). Beach is good and there's a local surf club. I suppose it depends what you want. Terrigal is also a lovely place and I would happily move there is we needed to.

    Good luck

    Jane

  2. The Central Coast is gorgeous. We live in Avoca which is a beach suburb. I don't know Lisarow it is more inland (but saying that only about a 20 minute drive for me). When I have driven through it, it appears more to be more acreage properties but as I said I don't know the area. If you are on Facebook, there's a great "Central Coast Expats" group. You may get some more info from there.

If you moved here, you would not be sorry especially if you have young children.

Sydney is an hour and half train journey away. Great on a Sunday as only costs $10 for a family of 4 ;-)

  3. Thank you ;-)

it can kinda be used as a pvr.

buy a freeview box in australia that has the function to record to a usb stick

(quite a few will do this check out reviews to get the best one)

then remove the hard drive from the sky box, and buy a 3.5" caddy to fit it in. ($10 ish)

plug in, job done, a cheap functional PVR. you can also plug the drive into your pc to watch the recorded contents. (from the freeview pvr not sky recordings)

  4. Thanks guys. Thought it was a long shot! OH said he knew it wouldn't work but was there anyway of using it as a a PVR ? (Know idea what he's on about)

    Cheers

  5. Hi there.

Just found our UK Sky+ box (no idea why I brought it with me along with the kitchen sink !) but wondered if anyone had plugged it in and somehow got Foxtel? Long shot, I know but thought was worth asking.

    Cheers

  6. What type of visa do you have? If you have PR you will probably be entitled to family tax benefit and rent assistance, which will help!

Yes. If you are a permanent resident, you will be entitled to Family Assistance. I could find you the link to the estimator if you need it?

  7. My mood is ALWAYS happy, but in answer to your question, we've not had a call, which I believe is a good thing. I've just had word from a couple of guys that they've been called, both unsuccessful unfortunately.

We have also spoken directly with Paula, aren't expecting a negative if that makes any sense, but still not 100% confirmed positive - 99.9% though.

    Still feel sick xx:biglaugh:

  8. Hi there. I found this on WA Education site. Right hand side there's a starting school calculator. I was trying to work out when my 4 year old who starts September in UK would start over there. I've spent 6 months building him up for "Big School" and didn't want to then be saying "Actually, you're not going now!". Anyway, it may help you work out which year for older ones??
