Hi Jo

Just thought I would let you know that we have finally recieved our 176 Vic SS. Our application should now be winging it's way to the DIAC where it sits and waits it's turn. Not too sure how long it will be before we are assigned a Case Officer, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

I hope everything is good with you since we spoke. Take care and hopefully speak soon.

Michelle, I have never been to australia - ever. My daughter didnt do the 11+ - well because in N Ireland it doesnt exist anymore from this primary 7 year. I think we will go for the 457 Visa if we know for def that the $4500 bill x 2 wont have to be paid. I have 3 daughters, 2 of which are school age. I dont think I wont like Sydney, I went to the states a few years ago & would have stayed there no problem with their lifestyle - only it isnt as easy to get in there. I know Oz is something similar with a more laid back life style. We are going to give it a year minimum with my hubbys job & see what happens from there.

hi michelle.

you are more than welcome to 'hang on my thread'. Are you proposing to move to Oz, if so where? My hubby hopes to accept the job offer is Sydney CBD soon if the negotiations work. There are so many hurdles to over & having two daughters age 11 & 8 $4500 X 2 would eat a chunk of our budget. I have received an email from St patricks primary school in East Gosford with a list of their fees for 2010. For both my girls to attend there it would be no more than $3K - a little less wouldnt you say than a public school where the education wouldnt be as advanced. I have nothing against the public schools & if I was going to get a 175 visa I would def send them to a public school. But I think they are about $6k to get whereas a 457 visa is only a thousane dollars or thereabouts.

I think the reply to this thread has helped alot.
