[/b]Good post Ghost, you've been awol a while?!
The highlighted bits i agree with..I think for ping pongers...it can often be a curse to have ever come here for the first highlighted reason.
Hi happyheart
i don't visit the forums very often, but I occasionally come back to see if I have any words of wisdom I can offer some unhappy soul.

I used grace, they were excellent.
-
One I sold on the autotrader , the other I sold to a dealer, lost lots as they were brand new 7months earlier. The dealer one went the day before I went home so was just easier.

I'm back in the uk now, and I mIss so many things about Australia , but I know if I lived there again I would miss so many things about the uk.
There are great things about both countries , it's just too bad people just can't try to understand things from your point of view.
good luck and enjoy the journey. England's so much nicer when you've been away from her for a while.

All the best mate , I know it's no easy ! And your so right about the big dream !
-
Think of it as moving forwards not backwards !

I had a bit of trouble with my lg tv. I told it I was in newzealand , it downloaded all the channels but the guide doesn't work.
-
Not at all! Loved my time in oz, still miss aspects of it of course, but overall we like the uk better !

Agree with the others maybe selling the cars will pay the loans. You could pay off you credit card bill with a uk loan. Interest rates will be much lower and you should still have a credit history.
hope you can sort it out.

I found the 3 month mark particularly hard, it got better, having said that we came home after 8. Maybe it was knowing we were coming home made it easier.
google buggy buddies. It's a group for people in perth with young kids, they always have things going on.

Don't beat yourself up about making the wrong decision, you would never know if you hadn't given it a go. And whatever happens next wouldn't have happened had you not moved to geralton.
hope you can make it work.

Ours did , its just the transformers that are the issue

It's been a lovely cold sunny day today. You do forget how pretty the uk can be when your in aus!
-
I miss the clear blue skies and the beach. I do miss the hot weather a little. Oh and sound of the sea in the evenings. Miss my summer walks with mrs.
-
Hi dan
understand just what you mean, I'm back in the uk now , and there is so much more to do. Australia is a great place, but we found not enough contrast.!
have to say I'm looking forward to our summer though!
you've really had an adventure, the uk will look so much different to you when you get back and you will never take her for granted again?

bit of a winging pom i think, i have been i WA for 10yrs and loved every minute of it and can not see myself moving back to the UK
when moving to another country you must realise things are different eg houses schooling prices people not all are the same and you should not compare
many people have visited our familly here all have fell in love with the life style and everthing that goes with it some have even bought property here to rent out. i to come from Yorkshire as do most of the friend and familly that visit and all those with children tell us how rascist it is back in the schools in the UK
ok so the country side is not as green but it is a different climate here but then when was the last time you had beaches in the UK like we have here with free bbq areas no graffiti or dog ****
i did go back after 5yrs here it was nice to see all my mates sat doing the same old **** with long faces looking forward to 2 weeks in the sun in spain driking english beer and eating english food moaning the weather is to hot and the beer is cold
hope you settle in your new life as we dont need you here winging about everthig
have to say jez , not sure what part of wa you are in but we saw plenty of graffiti and used to laugh at white dog poo something I hadn't seen since the 70's in the uk most people take bags with them when walking, Aussies didn't seem to worry about it.
just my observations.

You have to declare them, we had some declared them but never had to pay any duty
-
Glad the op is enjoying being back home.
As far as comments about schools is concerned , that was HIS experience of aus schools. No need to get your panties in a bunch if your experience is different.
my experience was the same, my kids even had to mark their own homework! We have great schools where we are in the uk, and our school in aus as not so good, other people may have had rubbish schools in the uk and better in aus. Don't take it personally !

Hey Missus B. I felt the same, mine came afer abut 4 months. We decided to move back. But Id give it until 6 before you make a decision. Your one of the lucky ones, you can pretty much slot back in at home. Good luck whatever you decided.

I've used grace removals , found the, very good

Ghost the news is even better for you - it turns out your Meanstreak just happens to fall on the list of bikes that can be imported into Australia unrestricted! Thank your lucky stars you (presumably) have the 1600 motor...
Link to the eligibility - http://raws.dotars.gov.au/motorcycles/files/856_00_Kawasaki_Vulcan.pdf
Its the 1500
-
Yeh Id be happy to pay a bit extra just to keep my bikes.

Enlighten me ironchef. I have a 2003 kawaksaki meanstreak, and a 2008 yamaha raider. Ive owned both since new. I will be on a 163 visa, which might make a difference, make my day and tell me I can take both.
We are not taking any cars, but my wife doesnt have a motorcycle license.
-
Thanks Iron Chef,
i appreciate your reply - but my husband is going to flip when he realises he probably cant bring his "baby" to oz - he's spent so much money on it!
Is there a way around it, if I import the KTM under myname, and he imports the fireblade, but he can prove that he owned it, it was in storage, no-one else was using it? Do they sometimes give lee-way in this situation?
Also, do you know if we can retain our personal number plates to use in Oz?
Thanks,
Cat
IVe got the same Dilemma two custom bikes that I love dearly. I think you have to have the motorcycle license and have had the bike in your name for the 12 months prior to emigrating, to be able to take it. I think theres even an issue with bike trailers, so im goingto have to sell that too :arghh:.
I will cry when I sell one.
Do you regret moving back?

5 years today since we arrived in oz, and been back in the uk 4 years. We love things about both countries, but don't regret coming back. We do miss it some wet miserable days, but there's so much here to do. Just had a weekend in Manchester with friends, probably do another city break later in the year. Done regret going or coming home.
