[/b]Good post Ghost, you've been awol a while?!
The highlighted bits i agree with..I think for ping pongers...it can often be a curse to have ever come here for the first highlighted reason.
Hi happyheart
i don't visit the forums very often, but I occasionally come back to see if I have any words of wisdom I can offer some unhappy soul.

I used grace, they were excellent.

One I sold on the autotrader , the other I sold to a dealer, lost lots as they were brand new 7months earlier. The dealer one went the day before I went home so was just easier.

I'm back in the uk now, and I mIss so many things about Australia , but I know if I lived there again I would miss so many things about the uk.
There are great things about both countries , it's just too bad people just can't try to understand things from your point of view.
good luck and enjoy the journey. England's so much nicer when you've been away from her for a while.

Ghost the news is even better for you - it turns out your Meanstreak just happens to fall on the list of bikes that can be imported into Australia unrestricted! Thank your lucky stars you (presumably) have the 1600 motor...

Its the 1500

Enlighten me ironchef. I have a 2003 kawaksaki meanstreak, and a 2008 yamaha raider. Ive owned both since new. I will be on a 163 visa, which might make a difference, make my day and tell me I can take both.
We are not taking any cars, but my wife doesnt have a motorcycle license.

Thanks Iron Chef,
i appreciate your reply - but my husband is going to flip when he realises he probably cant bring his "baby" to oz - he's spent so much money on it!
Is there a way around it, if I import the KTM under myname, and he imports the fireblade, but he can prove that he owned it, it was in storage, no-one else was using it? Do they sometimes give lee-way in this situation?
Also, do you know if we can retain our personal number plates to use in Oz?
Thanks,
Cat
IVe got the same Dilemma two custom bikes that I love dearly. I think you have to have the motorcycle license and have had the bike in your name for the 12 months prior to emigrating, to be able to take it. I think theres even an issue with bike trailers, so im goingto have to sell that too :arghh:.
I will cry when I sell one.

hi Ghost,
My hubby had a car and 2 motorcycles to import. Unfortunately you are only allowed to import 1 vehicle per person every 5yrs under the personal import schemes. All 3 vehicles were in his name but a few months ago we chose to tfr one of the bikes into my name ( as i have a bike licence) on the log book we just changed the first name and left every detail the same. the log book came back as one owner still and i have been granted permit to import with no problems. Our car and bike is to sail at the weekend, but we are pretty sure there are other ways to import our other bike and we will make enquiries on arrival. One vehicle each applies to the personal import scheme. It is worth a try it has worked for us!
thanks for that informatiion , if u get anyfurther with your other bike please let me know

5 years today since we arrived in oz, and been back in the uk 4 years. We love things about both countries, but don't regret coming back. We do miss it some wet miserable days, but there's so much here to do. Just had a weekend in Manchester with friends, probably do another city break later in the year. Done regret going or coming home.
