  1. Hi - try the shortstay network http://www.shortstaynetwork.com.au/‎ or http://www.wheretosleep.com.au if you want to be in the Brisbane area when you first arrive wotif.com may give you some properties closer to the sunshine coast. As cal says 4 to 6 weeks would be a good time for your temporary accommodation. My company gave me two weeks in mine and it was all a bit stressful and rush rush but we did manage to find a rental. If you want to have a hire car from the airport I have used AVIS and they seem pretty good. Some airlines have affiliates with the car hire places so it might work out cheaper to go through any that your airline is partnered up with. Relocation agents can be expensive but don't completely write them off as they may be able to get you into a property quicker saving you money on temporary accommodation - (prices and service do vary a fair bit though) Thanks Shelley
  2. Hi Scotsmum - it sounds like you have moved from the other side of the world once so this short hop should be a piece of cake for you My advice is to get a general idea of where you want to be from the internet as others have suggested http://www.realestate.com.au can be your friend. But either stay in temporary accommodation so that you can get a feel for the place or get a relocation agent to view houses on your behalf before you arrive (assuming you will rent to begin with). Generally the pictures of rentals on the websites are old and don't give you the whole picture unless it is a new build. I moved into a place on the western suburbs (Chapel Hill, Kenmore) with great schools nearby - and a short distance from the CBD. Depends how close to the beaches you want to be though as from here it is at least an hour. Let me know if you need any further assistance. Thanks Shelley
  3. Hi Bostick As PJ says depends how close to the city you want to be but that is most likely to be your range per week. You could stay in short term accommodation which is furnished until your belongings arrive but good ones close to the city can be upwards of $700 per week. Try http://www.shortstaynetwork.com.au/ as a starter. I can also put you in touch with recruitment agents if you need them - what line of work are you in? Thanks
