Hi there, I have a question....Do you have to be in the UK when you get your visa if you have applied for it here?....could I get a visitors visa, go back to Aust (where my OH is), then before my partner visa is finalized, leave and go to fiji or new zealand then go back when I have the visa? Im not really sure how it all works?
From what i understand as long as you are offshore anywhere when your visa is granted it doesn't matter where as long as you let your CO know about your travel plans to Aus!!

just handed in my remaining documents so lets see what happens. The original paperwork was handed in 4th May and meds suppllied 18th May and all remaining docs 15th June.
What I want to know is will it 3-4 months from 4th May or the 15th June?
Officially they say 3-4 months from original receipt of application. However, I wouldn't hold your breath. Some peoples being processed in 3 months but lots of us are still waiting over 4 months for them!!!:arghh:
-
I would tell your case officer but not sure it will speed things up. We are in the same boat - leaving UK early August and we have both resigned from our jobs, but we are still waiting for our visa and have been told we won't get it until early July.
I am going to phone my CO today and see what he says! Will let you know!!

Oh Peach you must be so patient, I would be totally ropeable by now! But you are obviously a good person! I hope you get yours with bells on!!!!!

I think it's a case of not having immediate travel plans, so being bottom of the pile in priority. CO told me back in March that my application was complete....
So do you think it is worth me telling mine that we have booked our flights for August?? And I've handed my notice in at work?? And we've sold our house???
-
You've got to be kidding! What's their excuse for that???

They close for Australian national holidays as well as the UK ones.
Yes can't bloomin believe it!! No wonder processing takes so much longer if they are always on holiday!! I encountered this problem today as I am getting really impatient and thought I would phone my CO!! It's been 16 weeks now!:arghh:
-
Ah in which case that really sucks for people who have applied afterwards! I am hoping to get the 100? Has anyone else got this recently?
-
Peach - just spoke to my CO - apparently as the rules changed mid march, and I applied the week earlier, I am still on the old system, so wont get a 100 form...
Sorry am probably really naive but what did they change about the 100 in mid-March? I was hoping to be granted the 100 as well and I also applied in February! Sorry if I have got the wrong end of the stick, but they keep changing the rules and I don't have enough time to keep up with it all!!

Ok I have given in and e-mailed my CO to ask when he is likely to finalise my visa as it's been 15 weeks now! I was fine until I read lots of other people have recently got theirs and am feeling a bit left out!!! But at least they seem to be moving again!!

I know how you feel, we have been waiting that long too. After looking at all the posts from last year I thought our application would take about a month at the most! Hopefully we will hear something soon. Have you been in touch with your CO?
No I haven't been yet as I thought I would wait until 4 months and then start pestering. Our flights are in August so it's not too desperate yet!!! Does it help to tell your CO when your flights are?
-
I am so pleased for all those who have received their visas! We are coming up to 4 months and waiting!! I honestly can't believe how long it is taking! I was naive enough to think ours was a straightforward case and would have been sorted earlier! Hopefully we will behearing soon!

I also thought that our case would be fairly straightforward - married 5 years, together 8 with 2 children but have been waiting 16 weeks now! It doesn't seem to be the case!!
